This is a list of a few films that made use of some of the greatest stunts in the history of motion pictures. Some of the stunts were pure human achievements; some employed innovative technology. With pressure currently being placed to add Academy Awards for achievements in the areas of stunts, stuntmen and stuntwomen, let's take a look at some of the most famous stunts in motion picture history. Suggestions are welcome, as always. The photo shown here is a tribute to one of the greatest of all stuntmen, Dar Robinson, shown just before his record jump from the 1170 foot level of the CN Tower in Toronto. He made this jump twice, once in a free-fall, when he jumped without a wire, fell 700 feet before opening his parachute and once with a 1/8 inch cable that stopped him just before he hit the ground. In 1979 he set the world record for a freefall from a helicopter, dropping 311 feet (95 metres) onto an airbag. He was never seriously injured in his career, but died in 1986 in a motorcycle accident at the age of 39. 5 = Death-defying/They're nuts!
