This is good to know as I was talking to Dish about changing over to their service 2 days ago and was quoted a price for the package I wanted, plus free installation of dish and boxes....maybe it was not such a good deal after all if they just charge you whatever they want to regardless of what you signed up to pay!

I too am being pushed by Direct TV into some sort of 24 month contract. So far, I have resisted as I won't even have a regular cell phone due to the contracts required. I don't like Direct TV because everytime it storms, it goes out, every time it snows, it goes out and their customer service tells you things like "go brush the snow off the dish to make it work because it won't work with any snow on it" and it happens to be 9pm at nite and the dish is 2 stories up, yea, right, just what I am going to do! It did clear itself about half hour later and work again. Or, when it went out during a rainstorm, I called for a credit and the CS rep told me that they ALWAYS went black at that time every week for "update maintence"...which was a lie, this was at 11:45 at nite during the Tonite Show, and it never "regularly goes black" at that time! Lazy SOB's! I frequently tell friends that the customer service reps at Direct TV are ones that even everybody's nightmare, Comcast, would not hire!

Now I have a LCD HD TV, well, you have to upgrade everything for that---and Direct TV quoted me that to replace the dish to an HD dish would cost me $149 plus $49 installation, plus they would have to re-do all the wiring (??) and there would be an extra $10 a month to 'rent' the new HD ready box. And, of course the 24 month contract was also mentioned. So far, I said NO!! They want to keep me as a customer, they hustle their bustle out here and replace the dish/box for FREE!

But, I am shocked that all the people who complained here about Direct Tv and Dish TV have not also written to their state Attorney General's office about some of the tactics used by both companies. There are some real illegal things going on here, and don't just write once, write once a month if need be! They have to answer to the AG by letter for every complaint sent in, so, write away folks! If they get enough complaints, they open an investigation against the company, so, these companies HATE to see complaints to the AG's about their business practices!

They can't charge you for "free" stuff like giving you free HBO for a month out of the blue and then start charging you for it!! That is a negative sign up, where you have to contact them NOT to bill you for a "free gift", and I thot those were illegal everywhere. And, what I am seeing with these contracts is anything goes on the cable companies part (ie raising rates from agreed upon prices, lowering services, not replacing equipment etc), but the customer is stuck paying regardless of what the contract says! If I am forced to sign a 2 year contract at say, $75 a month for the 1st year, then that is what I had BETTER be charged!

All I can say is you get the cable company you tolerate, and we need a massive campaign to the AG's of each state demanding they closely moniter these thieves!

Isn't it illegal to give you a 'free' gift and expect you to pay for it later, especially if you did not ask for the 'free' gift originally? Free is free with no strings attached! All I can say is with Direct TV and Dish TV, everyone should be writing their problems to their Attorney Generals office! And don't just do it once, do it every month until you see some resolution. They do NOT want to have to explain themselves to an AG! And, after xxx complaints (and you never know how many xxx is), AG offices usually start an official investigation against the company. Who knows, maybe your complaint will be the one that breaks the camels back.

I loved this movie! It came as a total surprise to me as I found it on HBO one afternoon and did not expect anything other than something mildly entertaining way to spend a rainy afternoon.  Boy was I taken by surprise!  It was not only an interesting story, but was dramatic, action packed and very funny too--I think the humor sold me!  I never saw the TV series it was based on, so, coming in cold, I found it a great movie if you like the sci- fi/action/thriller genre. It was still easy to understand despite not knowing the characters from the TV series.   And, Nathan Fillion is a great actor, could have hammed it up, but played his flawed Captain role just perfect!

More, I want MORE!!  Lets fire up the old story board and make MORE of these films!  Please????

Entertaining actor, has made some great choices over the years, his Indiana Jones series was good, and his Jack Ryan character was good, all in all, makes for an entertaining couple hours, and that is what it is all about, certainly not a potential Oscar winner, but who cares if the movie works and is a fun, entertaining movie?  Well, maybe he cares...

He is pretty horrible, his range is right up there with Arnolds, ie wooden.  His only claim to fame is his live in girlfriend all these years.

This guy is a good actor!!  I wish he would get more film/TV roles as he really surprised me with his acting chops.  It came about accidentally, was a rainy day, looking for something entertaining to watch and found a sci fi movie called "Serenity"--in the beginning I was a bit nonplussed at the story of the wild girl in the lab, but once it switched to the spaceship, I was hooked, and surprised at how good an actor he actually is!  Definately a fun movie to watch.  Right now he is getting great reviews for a film called "Waitress".

I had never seen him before or since--guess he was on a couple TV shows (Firefly which I guess the movie Serenity was based on and Buffy) but I never saw them.  I hope he gets some great roles in the future and gets the credit I think he deserves for being a good actor--and rather handsome too--that never hurts :-)

Handsome guy, I think he has potential, but has not always lived up to it in his movie choices.  He was really good in Changing Lanes, probably his best movie, and  his others have not been really bad performances, ie Pearl Harbor, Sum of all Fears, Armaggedon, he just seems to fall a bit short of being good.  His movies are mostly entertaining.

This guy is NOT an actor!  He is just SUPER lucky, he came along and started making what are modern verisons of basically Tarzan movies, just at a time when young teen-aged boys had lots of money to spend going to movies and catapulted his movies over the top.  He has NO range what so ever!   He has two acting styles, wooden and wall like!  And as for his body, his wife that scarecrow, half starved to death Maria always says "look at his body" like it is something most women die for--nope, you keep him, his body is not that great, overmuscled men are not attractive to most of us.

I really like this guy, altho some of his movie choices have been a bit bizarre.  LOVED LA Confidential, one of my favorite all time movies, and loved his role, the uptight, almost yuppie by the book cop.  He was outstanding in Memento and good in the Time Machine (which was kind of a lame remake except for his performance), but I was rather turned off by Ravenous!
