I visited World Revival Church in Kansas City a few weeks ago because I had heard about the "Revival." I'm a pretty big skeptic, and I like to check these things out. But I was pleasantly surprised by how un-evangelical it was! It was wonderful to be greeted by so many people who were real, and genuinely interested in making me a friend, and not just a new member! There was no "one man show" of healing or crazy kooks coming up to "give me a word". The music was lively! Like a concert, and the whole place got into it.
There were testimonies, and a young blond girl sang who was very cutting edge and so out there! Normally, I do not like that sort of thing, but in the midst of all the shouting and loud singing there was the reverence and mystery that I feel should be in church.
The sermon was very long, but I enjoyed the topics. The minister was very genuine and actually pretty funny, his wife came up with him for awhile, and she is just so energetic. It was great to see so many young people, old people, children, college kids, teens all there and enjoying it.
I will probably come back to visit!
