Trinity UCC at the corner of Maize and Shanley is a neighborhood church with a mixed-race congregation, which fits the Maize-Morse neighborhood. All ages are present, and the congregation is somewhat small (about 50 in attendance on a spring Sunday morning). Members are friendly. The pastor has some showmanship, and the sermon is grounded, engaging, and relevant. The worship service starts at 10 am Sunday and is done by noon. Be prepared to talk to the person sitting next to you.

I really love going to this church. The people there are like family to each other. The minister and his wife are so caring and when he preaches he lets you know that this is God's house not his. He also lets you know that he is at your level and not any better that he has had his days of sin also. If you would like a church that is very family oriented come to this church to worship and praise the lord.

This is truly a church where you can feel the glory of God all over! The members are so friendly and welcoming, the pastor is an excellent teacher who loves to preach about JESUS and does not hide the truth of the Lord's word! The praise team and choir sound wonderful and usher in the presence of the Lord for a glorious worship experience. I love the fact that the pastor and first lady know their members individually and actually care about their well-being. You should definitely take a look here. I did, and I'm grateful that I did!

I signed up for CitySearch specifically to refute the negative review posted here, I would hate for anyone to not consider WUMC on the basis of one moron's opinion. (so I'll offer this moron's opinion!). I must say that the other poster certainly has interesting priorities...the first negative thing he noted has to do about the floor in the women's restroom? Since he and his partner are gay males, what the heck was he doing in the women's restroom? Anyway, I have been a member of this church for a long time and it is a very welcoming church. I personally know the ministers - they get to know all the congregation. I have never known them to 'snub' anyone, regardless of race, creed, country of origin or, yes, sexual orientation. The congregation is presently a mixture of older members (who range from stodgy to friendly) and a younger generation of 30s-40s with kids. My wife and I (and our two kids) are part of the latter group (and I would hopefully not yet merit the 'stodgy' label. Give me a few years.). There are two services, one catering to the more traditional and another with more contemporary flavor. There is also an active program of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, etc. As of 6-09 our church is in transition with its beloved senior minister (Alan Sippel) retiring. We are looking forward to seeing what direction Rev. Garn takes us.
