If you need anything pierced Miss Hannah Cherry your girl! She is very good at what she does, very informed about sanitation and first aid. She is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome as well as the rest of the staff. I have never had a problem with my piercings, they healed perfectly, the actual piercing was almost painless when she did it. She was very clear on what to do with my aftercare. She has been doing this for a long time and she has taken many classes to learn more about anatomy and the art in general.
But for real this girl is amazing! I wouldn't think of going anywhere else, I've trusted Hannah for years.

The first in the local health club chain, Results' Dupont location on U Street began as a training studio in 1994 in a former restaurant supply warehouse. The three-story space still has a unique feel; find yoga and Pilates classes on the first floor next to the men's locker room, while the second floor boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and an open space for free weights and cardio equipment outfitted with personal television screens. "Ride," the cycling studio, is also on the second floor, and the third level includes the largest group exercise studio (for classes such as bootcamp, urban funk, and chisel), a women-only free weights space, massage rooms and the women's locker room.

Solid service and well-done work. The ladies here are quiet and efficient. It gets busy around lunch time and right after work, but making an appointment a few hours the day-of is usually enough time. The price ($14 for manicure, $28 for pedicure) seems like the going rate downtown these days.

This is the perfect place for anyone who lives in the neighborhood and needs a manicure on-the-go. No appointments are needed and someone will be able to assist you within minutes. The manicure costs $15 and within 15-20 minutes, you're out of there with fresh looking hands. I haven't tried out any of the other services offered here but I definitely recommend the Macomb Salon for a quick mani.

It's hard to find a salon in a city that isn't exorbitantly over-priced or conversely, cheap but disgusting. Luckily, Vicky's is the perfect middle ground. Located in Georgetown, the decor is super cheery and bright and the place is incredibly clean. I've only made an appointment once and generally just walk in. Sometimes there is a slight wait but Vicky and her staff are fabulous about accommodating everyone. The pedicure comes with a hot stone massage (ahh) and it is so reasonably priced. Rumor has it that Jill Biden is one of the clientele.

Though this basement level nail salon doesn't offer much in the way of thrills, its under-the-radar status--especially compared to some other area salons with cult-like followings--makes it perfect for walk-in appointments on the cheap. Though below ground, it's plenty bright with several windows and walls painted in cheery primary colors. The small space also features a flat screen TV mounted across from the spa pedicure chairs and racks of polishes from Essie and OPI. Massage services are also offered (choose 30 or 60 minutes) as well as facials and all types of waxing, from lip and eyebrow to bikini, chest and back. What it lacks in luxury it makes up for in friendly staff and detailed work.

The downtown location of this upscale local health club chain occupies two chic, below-ground levels just steps from the Farragut North Metro stop. Find ellipticals, treadmills and other cardio machines outfitted with individual television screens on the first floor, and weight machines, free weights and additional cardio machines (without time limits) down below. Three group-exercise studios host classes such as yoga, cardio dance, cycling, Pilates and the strength-training class Chisel. Behind the large fish tanks that lead to the men's and women's locker rooms, there's also a small, individual-sized pool that can be reserved for blocks of 30 minutes for water tread-walking or in-place laps against a current. Luxury locker rooms come equipped with towel service, hair dryers, and basic toiletries such as deodorant spray and body wash.

I've preferred threading to waxing for a very long time, and upon moving to DC a few years ago, I was thrilled to find out that I wouldn't have to track down some Indian auntie all the way in Leesburg who'll do it in her living room for $5, which is what you would normally do in a more suburban area. Dupont Threading is conveniently located about a block from the Dupont Circle metro. I only go to these folks, who'll get the job done in less than 7 minutes (depending on how unruly they've gotten). They always do an excellent, clean job and my brows have always looked perfectly shaped, streamlined and arched after. I rarely use a tweezer on them anymore, as I'll only trust my brows to Dupont Threading. If you make an appointment, you'll be able to bypass the wait you'll almost always get since everyone else (girls AND guys) know to come here. I've never had to wait longer than around 10 to 15 minutes, however, so I often just swing by after work don't even bother to schedule ahead. They're unfortunately closed on Sundays and Mondays, so you do have to keep that in mind if you plan to just swing by unscheduled.

Patsy's team takes the time to consult with you, where most nails salons, just cover up mistakes instead, not caring for them. Patsy's Nail Bar has cool and relaxing colors, with walls of original Romero Brito paintings with 47 inch HDTV's. Foot treatments are in semi-private pedicure chairs with manicures at the Italian tiled nail bar. The skin care rooms feature health and wellness products that are organic and soy based. Patsy's Facial Treatments include massage techniques that leave a client feeling like he/she has receiving a massage from face to toe! On March 1, Patsy's Nail Bar launched the "Prettiest Hands and Feet DC Contest". Each month until July 31st, a client will be chosen as a semi-finalist in 5 age categories (categories include 20's, 30's 40's, 50's and 60+) and featured on Patsy's Nail Bar website. This Foggy Bottom day spa strikes the perfect balance between cheap-and-simple nail salon and luxury spa. Owner Patsy Tavenner lets her Texas roots shine through in the establishment's focus on hospitality; the former licensing and marketing expert for the U.S. Postal Service has thought of every detail from offering refreshing drinks to patrons when they first arrive to the nail bar's hand-picked Italian tile. The spotless, green-and-teal space features a long manicure bar, a massage room, a facial room and luxury pedicure spa chairs. Sheer curtains between each chair provide the option of added privacy for those who want to zone out in front of the flat-screen TV, and men can take it a step further on the second floor, which is equipped with separate pedicure chairs just for them.
