I love Glen Acres. I have never had any problems, and I have many friends here. I know it hasn't had a perfect past, but I also know that any problems with leadership was solved long ago. We follow the word of the Lord, and preach the good news to anyone who needs it.
It is also safe. We have many checks that have yet to fail in my time to protect everyone. Background checks are required, and even I have taken them to help with childrens ministry, though I am just a teen. It's obvious they care, and i feel safe and loved there.

I love this place so much. I grew up out of the church, but the people here brought me to know Christ. I now go to one of the safest schools possible, but i still feel safer here!!! No one can work with kids without a background checking being cleared, but its not like they turn people away. they just don't put them where they might be tempted. :) i love Glen Acres church of christ, and wouldn't want to ever go anywhere else. But with what i have been taught, i think i'd be fine most anywhere else.

Glen Acres Church of Christ is a Bible-believing Christ-centered church that upholds sound Christian standards of morality. We have been compassionate on those who fall victim to the devil but we have never condoned any abuse.
Two women have been posting malicious hate attacks slandering us everywhere. They have a history of causing trouble and attacking churches, claiming they are a "cult" because they don't get their way. They demand that they be allowed to start a women's "support group" in churches run by them but they have no advanced qualifications, they have terrible backgrounds of bad behavior, they are malicious gossips, and they are totally reckless with the truth. Get the facts before you judge. We invite anyone interested to go to our web-site, come visit and talk to us or call us and get the truth.

It is a generally friendly parish community, but its clergy foster an obedience-cultlike mentality and an unflagging unquestioning loyalty to the group's "elder" Archimandrite Panteleimon (Metropoulos). This unquestioning loyalty contributed to the clergy's conspiring against, and uncanonical removal of its lawful bishop Metropolitan Moses.

I would watch out for them.

The Cross offered me a home last year. I was so broken, no one could recognize me. I gave my life to Christ and have never looked back. The Cross loved me until I could love myself, they helped me to become an active possitive member of society. I now have a great job, the honor of serving my ministry and paying it forward for the next life that needs to be saved. The Pastor and his wife have layed it all down for us, and they never give up on us. Matthew 11: 28 is as close as I can come to the love poured out through Jesus Christ. Thank you Pastor Jerry and Ms. Jennifer

I've been a attending this church for about 4 year, since that time my life has changed for the better I've gotten closer to Jesus than I've ever thought possible. I've learned the Bible in a new way, I've grown in my faith, I'd been able to lead other to Christ, and when I here it feels like a real family..

If you like terrifying cults, this is the church for you! Complete with a shady past, slanderous accusations against anyone who speaks out against their abuse, and an unclear grasp of biblical doctrine regarding the abuse of wives, women, and children, the Glen Acres Church of Christ is so cult-like it may take you several years of intensive therapy to recover from their emotional abuse! Doesn't that sound terrific!??

Do you really think giving, giving, giving will teach these homeless, ex-cons, hookers, pimps and drug dealers to make it on their own some day? NO, they just keep demaining more and more free to them. Why don't you teach them how to be a contributing memeber of society or have them trade some service they have rather than give it all away? We need so much work around SLU due to these who want a free ride. Cannot they do something to help us back for dealing with all the misery they put on us? - rather than contunie using and I do mean using the church for a free ride. Don't you see you are being taken advantage of??? Open your eyes good people of the lord. Yes, be good, be good, but at some point, you need to really help these people and giving them all this, isn't helping them, it's only hurting them in the longrun, by making them dependent on someone other than themselves. They would feel so much better about themselves if they earned something. We in SLU, are tired of our nice neighborhood being filling up with their trash, feces, sleeping bags, bottle, needles etc. The break in's, the tagging, etc etc etc......They only reason they are here is due to your church and that Center. Community Center??? give me a break!! The actual community is scared near it !!!! Why don''t you think about being a good neighborh for once!

I was also raised in this church, and there are some wonderful people who really love the Lord and do wonderful
works to help all people. There is absolutely no doubt about this fact.
I also came to know the Lord through this body of God, I was six when I first attended and baptised at the age nine.
I will always be thankful for the many good times and many good lessons I received and the effort that was put into
my life and the life of my family.
Please don't confuse the good people of the Lord at this church with the wolves in Sheep's cloting.
The allegations made against the leadership is absolutely true there is evidence and admittions by the leaders
which I have in writting from them. There is still a danger and threat to young people and children in this church.
You just maybe lucky enought to not be attractive to the molester still in charge of the young people and the church.
I know many young people that were not so lucky.
The woman that was taken out of the church orignally wanted to help start a support group for the people that were abused by the adults in the congregation and one women that is still there. We had approval by some of the leaders to start the support group, a group for sexually abused christians. One Leader put his foot down and then the rest of the leaders like someone had used a weed wacker on them and then lied about the approval. In trying to understand why the support group was disallowed we found many more horrible facts then what we ever even thought. Many of our memories were finally explained. If it hadn't have been for the support we young people gave each other things could have been worse. We love our church. We love the Lord Jesus and God. Our attempt at helping other souls with the same issues we faced was turned into a perverted lie to cover the facts of the still in place leaders. Which understanble they feel that if the facts were known they would loose the standing with their flock.
I actually started the ball rolling because I knew that I could not finish my healing until I faced up to what had happened to me. The women taken out in handcuffs was trying to defend her reputation that was being torn to shreds. I knew there were many other like me so I wanted to help other people come back to the church.
Some how the church took this as a campaign of slander against them. They also offered to take over the support group if the very same people that abused us could be in charge of the group which made no sense.
Also they say they do background checks but the statues of limitations does not reveal past behaviors of teachers and leaders in this church. It is easy to do background checks of people who are young and haven't to this point abused anyone. They do background checks on leaders because they get better insurance rates. This was explained to me by one of the leaders to make me feel more comfortable about what was the on going situations. One particular leader of the church has had two of the children abused by a family member and another family memeber abused a seperate person and this person still is a leader of young people,. Why? The professionals now know that sexually abuse is a preference. So why have a church leader who lust after young people in charge of young people. Doesn't it say in the Bible that As a man(women) thinketh so are they. So still to this day they are committing sin in their hearts and minds about the very children we wanted to help and the very young vunerable victims.
The mind set of the leaders haven't changed. They do love God as we do and we love them for this. Their version of what is acceptable doesn't match with current laws and the current understanding of what abuse can cause a person. Abuse can cause a person to act out in away that can be taken as willfull sinning. If a yound women is abused and acts out she is cast out from the congregation as a sinner. While men are simply made to confess there sins and then are forgiven. Letting them Abuse again. Even upto 7 times.
Really if the law hadn't stepped in to say this is unacceptable much of this would still go on uncontrolled.
Yes the law helps now, but the tone of the leaders sets young people up to be abused.
They can say its horrible and wrong and how much they care. Try having deep conversations with them about why it was aceptable and you will be suprised.
If you care about sexually abused people that love the Lord but are having difficulties help us get a bill passed through washinton state that allows victims from the past to prosecute their abusers, then ask your church leaders and listen to their response as to why they don't support this bill we are woking on. You would think they would want to help the flock and help protect the flock instead of the wolves.
Been there done that and still love them hoping for a closure and my family in Christ again. I have other families in
Christ but we all know, " There is no place like Home" "Click Click goes the ruby red slippers"
