You will not find the items displayed here anywhere else to my knowledge. Buyer is very good. I always find things to buy, both for myself and for gifts. When you attend the Fisher Theater, always stop in this shop!!

This gallery is one of my favorite places in Detroit to shop and/or stop. They always have a unique collection of beautiful art pieces and jewelry. I have several items purchased from this gallery throughout my home. Gift giving is a pleasant experience for both the giver and receiver when shopping at the Detroit Gallery of Contemporary Crafts. In response to another review posted, I must add that I used to frequent this gallery when I was a student (just browsing), when I was working with expendable income and now as a stay at home mom (back to primarily browsing). The staff has always been helpful and pleasant whether I'm visiting as a business woman or as a harried mom with kids in tow. I don't get to this area very often but when I do, this gallery is a must visit. Love it!

555 is an energetic place full of budding talent and possibility. They are in a renovated building that by no means is as clean and pristine as many of the galleries you will find in the suburbs; instead, you will find a wide assortment of local art, much of it fresh, new and sometimes wild. The building itself houses several artist studios, so something is always happening here-- a lot more than exhibitions. It is also large with lots of space to hang art, but if you come in the winter bring a coat. This is a place where not only can you afford to buy the art, but you will probably be entertained in the process. For those of you wary of Detroit, it has its own fenced parking lot-- no street parking.

Nate Muccioli is a true artist. He listens to what his customers want and then designs creative masterpieces. I have sent many friends and family members to his shop, not only because of his talent but also because he provides great customer service. Quality work and beautiful, unique pieces at a reasonable price. You will not be disappointed!

Never ever shop at this place it you want to keep your sanity. The owner, Judith, it openly rude and has an air of arrongance about her boutique and its over-priced funishings. Most of the things things there were purchased somewhere else on sale and marked up. I kid you not, this place is pricier that Neiman Marcus/ Horchow combined. Staff are very nice and humble when you act like you want to buy something, but dare not want to make a return/ exchange or you will certainly feel the wrath. The return/ exchange policy is only good for ten days!!! The items in store are very unique so if you need to take them home and compare them to your decor, if they don't match or don't seem to fit you liking you won't get the astronomical amount of money you spent back. Just a due bill or another item which you can exchange for. They will give you a very hard time about this and act like this is the norm everywhere else. I qoute the owner, "If you bought this at Macy's they wouldn't even take it back." The last time I checked Macy's has an 180 day return/exchange policy. Neiman Marcus allows you to bring things back whenever the hell you want!!! This lady just wants tp take and keep your money. Don't be suprised if you're surfing the net and happen to see your unique/ one of a kind piece on another website for less than half of what you paid for it at the Gallery. Trust me, don't get taken to the bank like I did. Again, I was appalled as to how I was treated when I only wanted to exchange something because I changed my color scheme in my kitchen. She told me that that was not her problem, yada- yada- yada. She also pointed her fniger in my face like I was a child. I am a very wealthy freelance journalist who happens to profile local business' and venues, but this particular day I resembled a highschool student. Regardless of how much money a person appears to have they schould be treated with dignity and respect. Judith needs a whopping does of whoop as!!!

The Zeitgeist looks for raw talent. Talent that is intuitive, dark, juicy, pure, untainted, and imaginative to the highest quality. Our main goal is to show the best art and produce the best plays we can find, working with artists who dig deep for their creation. Just a mile from Detroit's beautiful abandoned Train Station on the outskirts of Corktown, The Zeitgeist Gallery and Performance Venue's vision is as rare, raw, and unexpected as the city itself. Along with producing classic avant-garde plays as well as original works, half the Zeitgeist space became a venue for art just as invested in the experimental. The Zeitgeist Gallery was inspired by the late Jacques Karamanoukian: artist, thinker, art dealer, humanitarian. In the last 10 years the Zeitgeist has been proud to exhibit European artists such as Jaber, Rosemarie Kozcy, Stani Nitkowski, Sanfourche, Sendrey, Claudine Goux, Pascal Hecker, as well as fantastic local artists including Diana Alva, John Elkerr, George Graveldinger, Roger Hayes, Robert Hyde, Charles Keeling Lassiter, Maugre' a.k.a. Maurice Greenia Jr., Aaron Ibn Pori Pitts, James Puntigam, Karl Schneider, Michael Loverich, and many others.

Boring for me, but others may like it. Heavy in African-American art. ...Cy
