Terry Gilliam's brilliant tour de force of our world run to it's logical absurdist end. The movie nakedly borrows plot, themes and tone from Orwell's 1984 in the same way that many a modern day filmaker visits upon the works of Sakespeare.

Gilliam has let our worst impulses of social indifference, beauracracy and the petty frustrations of living in a depersonalized modern world tell the story of one simple man, minding his own business who gets caught in a breakdown of the system and victimized by its cold, efficient brutality. As an added insult the victim is a long serving and active cog in the brutal system that fucks him up.

The simple message - THIS CAN HAPPEN TO YOU. Or maybe its This WILL Happen to You.

I'm not really into science-fiction type movies, but this was pretty well done mockumentary. It's a movie about prejudice and segregation set in South Africa (coincidence?) and follows a government agent who was exposed to some alien goo and turns into one himself. He is helped by alien named Christopher and drama ensues as Christopher attempts to get enough stuff ready to go back to his home planet and then return in a few years to save his people and fix the government agent.
It was a pretty good movie, but nothing I feel the need to rush out and watch again.

I've loved this movie since it came out in '97. It's kind of cheesy and a little over the top, but it's a fun movie. Gary Oldman is awesome in any movie he's in, and this one isn't any different. Chris Tucker as Rudy Rhod was quite entertaining as well.

Was very slow and I was quite disappointed in the way they started the new trilogy. Not to mention Jar-Jar was a TERRIBLE addition...

There were some great fight scenes, the battle on Genosia and the Obi, Ani, and Dooku duel were great, but watching the love story between Padme and Aniken was quite painful.

The more notable scenes for me are probably Hoth evacuation, Leia calling Han a nerf herder, the asteroid chase, the "I love you, I know" lines from Han and Leia, the freezing chamber duel with Vader and Luke, not to mention the big reveal from Vader. All in all this is by far my favorite SW movie.

I actually quite enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. I, like Numbah, enjoyed how they made the humans out to be the bad guys. Not to mention, we've gotten some great fodder from the movie dialog.

Influential in that it opened the door for anime to hit the US in force, but I've never taken a particular shine to it.

Weird ass flick that I kinda liked, but the "humans are the bad guys" theme only goes so far.
