Second best to raw in my opinion. It's better than any other high quality kibble, dehydrated, or freeze dried food I've tried, but after being on nothing but ziwipeak for a few months, one of my dogs developed awful dandruff and the other's white fur turned pink. I fed the different meals available on rotation but I think maybe there was not enough variety still.I can't indefinitely say that the ziwipeak caused the above, although they didn't receive any other food or treats. Although it claims to be raw it isn't truly, ....you can't put raw in a bag with a shelf life unless it's frozen! It is back to Darwins and lentils for my dogs. -not as convenient but less expensive and the only food we've ever used long term without seeing a problem in our sensitive pups, and we have tried just about every high quality food out there! I will still use the ziwipeak for training treats and snacks, just not for their main meals.

I mix this canned food in with my dogs kibble. She has never gotten so excited about eating not even with raw. I take that back she gets as excited over left over coyote kill in the snow or the sight of a rabbit. I also use the treats ocasionally you'd think I was handing her a rabbits foot. Glad I tried it.

my little yorkshire terrier has the worst food allergies, and he is sooo picky! I have tried several different types of food, I only feed him natural pet foods... I have tried raw.. innova evo.. timberwolf..wellness..and many others. I was feeding him orijen for the longest time.. (it made his breath smell really bad!) I heard about ziwi peak from one of my family members and decided to give it a try.. to ease my little baby into ziwi peak, i gradually added ziwi peak to orijen slowly.. HE LOVES IT! he loved it so much that as he was eating the orijen and ziwi peak together.. he would SPIT the orijen out and only eat the ziwi peak.. :D he is so funny. Its a very good dog food, only thing is, it is kind of expensive..but I THINK ITS SOO WORTH IT. I want my dog to be healthy and I want him to enjoy what he's eating.. and i have never seen him like this with any pet foods i have gave him in the past. I think i found THE pet food for snickers. Thank you ziwi peak! :)

I have two mini dachshunds. I had heard horror stories about the 2007 pet food recall. So originally I was cooking food at home for my doxies. Due to time constraints with my job, it became impractical. I went through a variety of dried dog foods trying to wean them away from homecooking!! i went through sooo many dog foods that it looked like I had a puppy buffet going on in my house. Pups wouldnt touch Wellness Puppy or Merrick Puppy Plate. Blue buffalo gave them horrible gas and after a while they stopped eating it anyway. I dont have anything against these brands. My pups just didnt jive with it. Tried Royal Canine Dachshunds 28 and Science Diet as a last resort. These dog foods I wasn't really comfortable feeding based on all the problems people have had with grain inclusive diets. Ziwipeak was recommended by the owner of a locally owned pet supply store in my area. I was a little taken back by the price. However, I agree with the other user post - its cheaper than vet b... If it is the only dog food my dog eats...its GREAT!!! So it is expensive, but she eats it!!!! I spent more money on expensive dogfoods she didnt eat...orijen (it wasnt cheap, but she didnt eat it), pinnacle, evo, timberwolf, before bg grain, lotus (she didnt eat not a bit) Now I dont have to put wet food over...she eats tiwipeak!!! If she loves it...thats the only matter to me.

My toy poodle loves this food. I was throwing away half of the others I tried (Canida and Wellness) so though it is $21 for a 2lbs bag for a small dog it still makes sense. She eats all of it!She has more energy! For about a dollar a day for a small dog, you can't do better. Just get a free sample (like I did) and see for yourself how they gobble it up! Worth every penny!!!! Forget the rest, try a sample and see what works for YOUR pet.

Are you crazy, this stuff is $10 a lb. Feed your dog fresh food, you can feed him Flatiron stakes for $6 a lb. i read the ingredients, nothing special. Any decent canned food is better then this.

Awesome food! Loses one star because it's ridiculously expensive, and hard to find anywhere near where I live, in the DC area. I originally had my dog on Blue Buffalo, and I switched her to Ziwipeak because it was recommended to me by an employee at a dog boutique in La. My dog previously had stinky breath and horrible gas, and she tried (often) to EAT her feces, and had VERY frequent BM's (bowel movements) before i got her on this food. As soon as I got her on Ziwipeak, though, within a week her breath started smelling fresh again, she stopped having those horrible farts, and she only has one (small, might i add!) BM a day. she also, thankfully, stopped eating her feces! And though my dog has always been healthy minus the feces-eating, gaseous issues, her fur got even shinier and softer since getting on Ziwipeak. I made the mistake of trying to switch her to Orijen a couple days ago because it's cheaper and seems to have great ingredients/great reviews, but the gas/pooping often p... Read more

This food is unbelievable!! I have started using the Venison Cuisine Formula as part of my dog's rotation about 2 weeks ago. I can't believe the results I have seen in such a short amount of time. Less stools, less doggy smell, better breath, no runny eyes. The ingredients are the best I have ever seen. I also feed Great Life Dog food, and Natural Balance Dog food during my rotations. My dog has many allergies and sensitivities. I thought the other two foods were sensationtional, but this stuff blows everything away!!! It is very expensive. I do recommend buying the 11 lb. bag, esp. if you have a medium to large sized dog. I do add canned pumpkin to the food for a little extra fiber and for his stomach issues in general. I am just shocked and amazed at the quality of this food. Best choice I ever made for my dog!

Excellent product, highly palatable. Second best to RAW in my opinion. It's just so expensive. A 11lb bag would only last me a month and costs over $90.

This is probably the best dog food on the market. It is on the pricey side, but, for the high quality ingredients it has, it is well worth it. We ended up switching our dog from a raw diet to this because we wanted to put some extra weight on him because he had lost a lot of weight when he had a food allergy. This is the raw without that thaw. You take raw food and have it air dried in a control environment, and you you get Ziwi Peak. We have our dog on the Venison formula, and use Pro Zyme also, and he has gained his weight back, and know longer has diarrhea. Your dog will go crazy for this food, it's like crack for dogs. You can also use it as a treat if you can't afford it as a everyday food. This was also the only dog food on the market that was pure venison, venison meat, venison liver, and venison heart, not just the meat and then low quality lamb or chicken thrown in there, which defeats the purpose of a novel protein.

My dog loves the food and it is great for him, but my cats who arent normally picky like most cats, refuse to eat the dry food. They do like the canned. The last time my cat refused to eat a food we were trying, he had good reason because it made him vomit as soon as he ate it. Now ziwipeak has never made him vomit, but I dont think they put as much thought into the cat food ingredients as they do into the dog food. There is litle difference. I am a dog person too, but c'mon, cant a pet food company put a little more thought and care into making a nutritionally sound cat food as well?? One that they actually like?

This is one of 3 dog foods that I am reviewing (Great Life dry kibble & Addiction Dehydrated are the other 2). Out of the three brands Ziwipeak is the one food that Mr. Winki completely enjoys, meaning he will clean his bowl as soon as I put it down. No sniffing, walking away to think about it, grazing on it slowly, just overall enthusiasm over his food. It was a treat for me to see since he is so finicky and the road to finding him a good balance of food that he actually enjoys and does well on has been a challenge! Customer service is good too. I initially had questions regarding the low fiber content and high ash content in the food and the rep emailed me back in less than a day with a thorough, sincere response.  They do stand behind their food. This is an expensive food - no question. I am already through 1/2 a 2.2 lb bag (which was around $22 + s/h) in about 2 weeks & he only gets a half scoop per day.  But considering the amount of money wasted on brands that he doesn't like & I... I found this food at www.daisypet.com. I have been feeding the dry food with some of the canned mixed in to my huskey for two months now. Her coat has never looked better and she is itching much less. Plus it is much easier to feed then frozen raw food.

Yes this stuff is expensive but my dog loves it. I give her the canned lamb and the fish treats. Great quality food, especially for a little diva pug with a sensitive stomach. I mix the wet food with Orijen adult dry food and her bowl gets licked clean every single time. I would rather pay that little extra on good quality food than have her on the cheap crap and see her unhappy and unhealthy.

I can't afford to feed this product exclusively but I give 1 supplemental feeding a day to help keep weight on my agility boxers. I can't afford to feed this food as the sole diet, but each dog gets a large portion per meal. High quality protein/natural food.

I add the Cuisine to Orijen dry food and love the results. My dogs enjoy ZiwiPeak and one of my coon hounds would not eat a raw diet but loves the cuisine. Very good food but it is too expensive to feed large dogs without a high quality dry mix like Orijen.

I first see Ziwipeak at Cow Palace in January and I bought a big of 11 lb bag plus a few bags of treats. It impress me a lot when I see it has stated the % of each meat content individually, and a total of over 85% meat as a whole. I currently have my golden retriver on Innova EVO, and I mix Ziwipeak into it. NO running stool and no bad things happened. I even use the food as a treat. After a week of having Ziwipeak added to the diet, my dog's coat is a lot shinier, a lot softer, and smell better. I don't have to bath my dog that often (now only once every 2 months). I am thinking of switching to ziwipeak completely, although this food is hard to find and expensive, I still think it is worth the price!

This is the best dry dog food I have seen on the market. I can feed less food to my dog per meal, and yet, he can still have enough and have wonderful coat and shine when he is under the sun!! Perhaps, a bit expensive, but it is still cheaper than vet bills. I see changes in my dog after two week of adding ziwipeak to his diet.

In my opinion, ZiwiPeak makes the best cat food. This is the only food our cat is not allergic to. And thankfully she also loves eating it. Also, unlike so many other pet food companies, ZiwiPeak is made in New Zealand with all New Zealand grown ingredients.

My Pug loves this food. Her coat is so soft and shiny. She has been eating it for about a month now and everytime I give it to her I swear she looks at me like I am nuts because she is absolutely sure I have lost my mind and I am giving her treats to eat! I absolutely recommend this food, it is expensive, but I have found it to be totally worth it. The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not have as much fiber (1.5%) as I would like, so I supplement with green beans and other fruits and veggies.

I recently came across a dry food that has chewy texture. It is made in New Zealand and is being discussed and reviewed very positively on other dog nutrition sites. I sent away for some samples and ordered a few cans of their venison, lamb and tripe combo. As soon as I put a littled dry and canned in my dog's bowl, she couldn't get enough. This is a very expensive food and would be difficult to feed totally on a daily basis. It is however an excellent food. I am using Orijen regularly but will alternate with ZiwiPeak.
