I think Yoda is a good character because he is an amazing Jedi who always fights for good. He also is very knowledgeable and many people look to him for answers. He is also and amazing Jedi master and has trained many Jedi. Overall, Yoda is a knowledgeable character who always has the answer.

Is he any relation to Yoga? He always looks to me that he could use a good laxative.

This will probably get me lynched, never mind hounded from the site... but here goes. Yoda speaks like Sukings on crystal meth, has all the worst attributes of your dad, is colored like what your bum produces after washing down spinach and Mexican food with 19 beers, and his hackneyed, cliched, pompous and self-righteous philosophy is what might be produced if you could somehow integrate the messages in fortune cookies into the mind of a drunken grizz dipper with a larger brain than normal for the species.

Yoda was a great character but he looked stupid in The Phantom Menace. They should've made him look identical to how he looked in Episodes II and III. Surprisingly we learned that Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was even more powerful than Yoda. We learned this in Episode I. Yoda trained Luke Skywalker to be a Jedi but Vader thought that Obi Wan Kenobi trained him. I give Yoda a 4 star rating.

In my view he is every bit as annoying as Jar-Jar Binks. He is not a hero, and at times is a damn fool. The weakest major character in the films.

A great character, without him Luke Skywalker wouldn't have got the training he needed to defeat Darth Vader, which would have meant the movies would have had a very different outcome

A little green elf-like creature that can bring down the house literally is always a sight to see.

Yoda was a great Jedi but couldn't kill anyone that mattered.  He couldn't even tell the sith lord lived in the same town.  Very wise and knowledgable with the force and only was at the head of the council because he was 800 years old.  Pretty cool when he chopped the 2 clones heads off with the wookies...  and when he threw his lightsaber through that clones chest in episode III.

I could listen to him talk for hours. I would only understand half of what he said, but I would listen... UPDATE: Whoa there. Sure, he acts like an idiot in Empire, but he's testing Luke by pretending to be a moron. He's also one of the best lightsaber duelists out there, nearly defeating Palpatine and sending Dooku packing in Ep 2. The little backwards talking sage is no Jar-Jar...

As far as the character is concerned, don't have anything to say that hasn't already been commented on.  However, growing up in the seventies, I enjoyed watching the Muppets and Frank Oz, who is the voice of Yoda, was the voice of Fozzie Bear in the Muppets.  Unfortunately, everytime Yoda spoke, I couldn't get the image of Fozzie Bear out of the head.  For me, this kind of ruined the Yoda character and I couldn't really take him seriously.

Yoda was competent but he never did defeat a major character. He tried to be the rock of the JEDI in their most tumultuous time. Don't blame Yoda for everyone elses mistakes, Yoda may have seemed like he made many mistakes, but in the end he really made none, when you look at it from the point of view of the Force trying to regain balance, and suffering from imbalance. The Dark Side covers all, I thought it was funny how Luke treated him. It was like "yeah, whatever little man" over half the time.

Strong in the force, knew Anakin was bad news, and spoke with a speak impediment. Cool guy.

None of them came close to Vader's power, but I will definitely give five to Yoda. A lot of wisdom.

A very overrated Jedi. He could have been beaten by any number of powerful Jedi or Sith (certainly by Mace Windu). He was also arrogant, (in Episode III) he sends Obi-Wan to be killed by Anakin, while he takes care or Sidious. How wrong he was...

Yoda was WISE. Yoda gets 5 stars. Who would you rather have as president--war monger idiot Bush, or Yoda??

I can't argue that Yoda did more to hold things back and mess things up than he did to help, and I STILL can't believe that he could talk to the Sith-lord and not have ANY CLUE! But then, neither did any of the other Jedi either (and really, how weak was that?) But his two fight scenes, in Clones and The Sith were the highlights of those two films, so I have to give him credit there. I was very disappointed when he gave up after losing to Palpatine the second time. After all, in his own words, Do, or do not, there is no try I still like him, though.

Who gets all the ladies in the end of every movie? You would be a damned fool not to say Yoda. More women went down on Yoda than the Titanic. If you disagree I will kill you to death.

Yoda is uber- cool. I f he was real I would want to be his friend. He could rearrange my heavy furniture for me. With his mind. He's the kinda guy who's good to know.

Yoda is the greatest! Very wise, very precise. He was a strong warrior up until his death. He is arguably the strongest warrior. He is the one responsible for helping shape the jedis. Such a loveable character is he!

Yoda is just awesome, despite his massive height disadvantage he is still a great warrior when he needs to be (even if not the best). He is wise, and his wisdom is what defines him. When analyzing him, focusing on something else could lead one astray.

I can't believe I'm rating a Star Wars character, but I've always thought Yoda was a class act turd. I know he is suppossed to embody the childlike essense of a Zen Buddist master, but Yoda kept getting in the way, acting like a brat and then getting his butt kicked when the action came. Yoda seems more like a "Dark Crystal" extra who wandered onto the wrong movie set and did a mean Grover impersonation when he spoke.

What can you say about Yoda? He's one of the most unforgettable heroes in all of cinema history. I hope he is remembered for his part in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, rather than the Attack of the Clones. It was great to see him wield a lightsaber and all that, but Empire and Jedi showed his true soul.
