Yankee Stadium 1923-2008 (New York Yankees)

Is this the new or old Yankee Stadium? Either way im not a fan. Overpriced and over rated.

To the despair of my sports-loving father, I never had the slightest interest in sports. As a kid, I was compelled to participate in numerous PAL-sponsored activities; baseball (I remember mostly standing in the outfield, gnats buzzing around my ears), basketball, boxing (all it took was one or 2 punches and I was practically kissing the canvas), etc. Perhaps the only sport I didn't have to engage in was football-- I was too skinny (thankfully). Less onerous for me was traveling to sporting events with Dad. My favorite was football games at West Point's Michie Stadium. I didn't enjoy the game...I was never really even sure how the game was played...but I loved the scenic drive up, and I loved the magnificent beauty of the West Point campus and its surroundings on the mountainous banks of the Hudson River. No question it was a classic park overflowing with history. As a lifelong Red Sox fan, and by extension all 28 of the other clubs besides this onethough, it should have been called Minas Morgul instead.

Can't see the score board from the bleachers. Parking is bad. Fans are in the game and know their baseball.

Great stadium, bad location, mean but very smart fans. The same stadium hosting the Brewers would not find so many awe-struck people. The facility itself is imposing because of the tradition of the Yankees. If it were in a better neighborhood, you'd have a 6 star place.

This spot is still a great place to watch a game. It is definitely part of Americana; the legends from this stadium shall never die.

as far as the stadium i think they need a new one but this one is great because of all the history but they do need a new clean one with more excitment

I hate New York and the people that live in that cesspool of a town. Yanker stadium is a terrible stadium. The outfield walls are incosistent and not properly proportioned. Come on short porches down the lines then well over 400 feet to left center and dead center makes it even worse. Yankee fans are the rudest and most obnoxious fans in all baseball. How could any sane person rank yankee stadium in the same league as Wrigley field? I would like to see that dump torn down. NYC is a overpopulated turd infested garbage dump so I guess it is only appropriate they have a stadium that echos the true spirit of NYC.

A great view from every seat. If you want to eat, get some great food OUTSIDE the stadium like a real New Yorker and stop whining. The only thing that really matters is the history built into the place - go and worship at the temple!

History? Who gives a dam(n), this place is a dump. Not only is Boston, way, way better. You are all fair weather fans, you love the stadium only because you love this team. No place to walk, and I have develpoped a tailbone disorder from my years of sitting there. Milwaukee is even better than this place.

How can anyone love this stadium? There are no moderately priced decent seats (either you're sitting right up front or way up high). The food is way too expensive and is not good. The concourses and bathrooms are dirty and smell bad. The top deck is crowded, steep, and offers a crappy view of the game. For my money, I'll head to Coney and watch the Psyclones play.

This place is a nightmare. It's located in a dangerous ghetto and inhabitated by thousands of violent a-holes. I wish they would demolish this armpit and build a real stadium.

So much history into packed into one building. Sure, it's crowded, narrow, and a little dirty in some places, but just imagine, Babe Ruth stood at that home plate. Lou Gehrig made his farewell speech right there. The best players in baseball, today and yesterday, have stood on that same field. It's hard to imagine that. Sure, you'll go to Astro Field, but who can you say stood at that home plate? No one. Just because it has more modern conveniences doesn't make it better. You're there for one reason. Baseball, baby.

This place is way overrated and a total dump. First of all it's ugly. I always heard how classic it was, but a big concrete monolith is very unattractive. The blue seats are very odd, and cushioned seats don't belong in baseball stadiums. Also, the ushers acted like Nazis. An overall dismal facility.

Home office of Baseball. Ruth, The Iron Horse, Joe D., The Mick, Yogi, Reggie and on and on. What else do you need to know?

Take away its history and Yankee Stadium is a mediocre ball park. While it is not nearly as bad as those concrete caverns like the Vet in Philadelphia, it is uncomfortably outdated with unduly narrow corridors and tight confinds, and fans do not get that sense of being there like they do at truly great parks like Wrigley. Top it off with its dangerous location in the Bronx and you get two stars. History does not make a park great, no matter how grand that history is/was.

A stadium rich in tradition and heritage, but lacking in the creature comforts that contemporary fans, a spoiled and immature lot, have come to expect. The playing field is first rate, but the dimensions of this park have always been illogical. The real problem with this stadium is the fans: either they're drunken, loud, obnoxious yuppie a**holes or drunken outer boroughs minority types whose sole reason to be at the ballpark is to find a fight with someone. I'd rather go out to Shea, which is a toilet and houses a sub-mediocre team, but at least the fans are knowledgeable, well-behaved and not criminal in their souls.

A few of the bad comments come from people that are resentful that George Steinbrenner has figured how to run a baseball team, as opposed to some of the really poor businessmen in MLB. Also, that their team hasn't won anything in a near 100 years. Yes, the Yankees have the greatest history in sports. This category is about baseball stadiums. Yankee Stadium combines basic heaven on a sunny Saturday with the proud feeling of being a New Yorker. Go to the stadium to watch a game and then you have the right to leave a comment. Some naive people out there like to confuse humor for arrogance on the part of New Yorkers...they just don't get it and will likely be made fun of if they make their presence felt at the House That Ruth Built. The best fans in the world help make this stadium what it is...a beautiful place.

If New York is the Mecca of Baseball, then Yankee Stadium is the Kabaa.

I am a die hard Mets fan which means I hate the Yankees, but I must admit the fans are the best and the food is great. The stadium itself is a bit old, but there is too much history there. I would go to Yankee stadium on any day.

I still remember the moment I was hooked on basebal and the Yankees, I was about four years old and I was seeing my first major league game at Yankee stadium. I still ove the stadium, It's not big it's grand. And while the upper deck is high, they are actually my favorite seats in the house. You get a great bird's eye view and miss no action.

One of the best. Now I admit, the Yankee fans have a lot of nostalgia these days (he he), but this stadium is the holy grail of baseball, the way it was meant to be. And that is all that has to be said.

You must love to see little boys, covered with beer outside the building, when you get in, forget trying to do anything but get to your seat. . .lines. . . the most obnoxious fans in all of baseball. . . they have a mindset, if the team loses, its because they beat themselves. Did anyone mention the fresh urine scent that lines a mile radius around the building. . . people love Jason Giambi there-- probably because he, like his fans, shoves needles into their arms nightly. If there was a grade below F, Yankee Stadium would get it.

If you were to take this stadium out of New York it would be terrible. It's dirty, the seats arent great, and its not easy to get there. However the New York fans get into the game more than any other baseball team's fans out there. Great atmosphere, but thats pretty much all it has going for it.

It is the most historic place in sports. The best players to ever live played there. It truly is and it is agreed upon that Yankee Stadium is the pinnacle of the sports world.

The Cathedral of Baseball. The Home Office of Baseball. The House That Ruth Built. Name one other park with nicknames anywhere near as strong or as poignant. Simply put... The Best. Bar none. Walking on her field was one of the best feelings I ever had in my life. To stand where Ruth and Gehrig and Matle and DiMaggio and Reggie and Donnie Baseball stood... Wow! There may be newer, more modern parks, but nothing matches the karma or the mystique of Yankee Stadium. Anyone who thinks otherwise is probably a Mets, Red Sox or Braves fan.

Classic, Historic, a Must See. You get goose bumps walking in the place

A true gem, anyway you look at it, for a true sports fanatic. Casual fans need not come, we don't want your kind.

I have been to quite a few of the ball parks out there and while there are other parks that are more comfortable and modern, there are few that come close to the feeling of awe one gets as the field lays out before you when you emerge from the tunnel. There is something special about the history of the franchise and the history of the building that you can feel when you are there. While at the stadium, you must get there early in order to experience monument park - definitely a not to be missed stop. Otherwise just sit back and soak up the atmosphere.

It might look good in yahoooo Texas, not in NYC. The only reason people like it is because of the history of the Yankees. Its not very intimate. Build another one.

Good staduim but over-rated

The grand-daddy of them all. The history in that stadium in like none other. Yeah, the original facade is gone and the monuments are no longer on the field, but the tradition lives on.
