Thu Feb 04 2010The only thing I didnt' like about my V Star was how it stalled and bucked at low speeds do to the clutch. I got a new clutch lever at http://www.clevverlever.com and now it runs MUCH better. I LOVE my V Star!

Thu Feb 21 2008I had a 2006 1100 V-Star Silverado for my first bike. I really liked it but soon found out that the 1100 just didn't quite cut it on the highway. At 65 - 70 MPH I felt like I was on the verge of pushing it to its limits. In it's defense, though, I'm 6'3" and weigh 285 lbs so it had to work a little harder to get my a$$ around. I have since traded it in on a '07 Yamaha Stratoliner and have never been happier. The Stratoliner has a much more powerful engine and handles as well as a sport bike. The difference between the two is really night and day. I have heard many good things about the 1300 V-Star, though.

Mon Aug 20 2007The V Star 1100 is close to perfect. It has two problems. (1) Vibration at high speed. (2) Lack of a 6th gear. Adding a 6th gear will get rid of problem number 1. The V Star 1100 is a real winner. It is the most cost-effective motorcycle of its type on the planet. It is fast enough for all purposes for which it is intended. It is light and nimble (for a bike of its size) and it is as reliable as a stone. Oh, did I forget to mention it doesn't cost that much either. Its powerplant and drive train whine, whir and click a bit more than a Harley. But, hey, its not a Harley! Yamaha built a different power system that works in a different (and very reliable) way. The V Star is a tank, and a very good one. It won't take your wallet to buy one either.

Sat Mar 17 2007I purchased Vstar 650 new in 2004 and love it at 15,000 as I did on the first ride. As a 5 tall woman, it fits me perfectly. I sit flat-footed and do not feel stretched out over the handlebars. I have also taken the 1100 for a spin and was very comfortable on that bike as well. I agree it could use a 6th gear, but my small stature and quick wrist easily cause my ridding buddy to have to catch up. This bike is great for long rides; it needs refueling around the time my legs (& seat) need to stretch. The hard side bags are a great for trips. They are much more accessible than the leather bags and store lots of gear. I commonly commute to work and haul a computer, change of clothes, shoes, lunch and a purse. :) I commonly am asked what am I doing on such a big bike, but it is very ergo and looks great! I wouldn't want any other bike.

Fri Apr 28 2006At age 62 & retired, my family was more than a little apprehensive about my intention to resume riding motorcycles. Even though I had extensive experience over the past 45 years riding Harleys, Triumphs and Goldwings I had not been on a bike for 10+ years. That all changed on my 63rd birthday when I got my 2005 V Star Classic. To say the least, I am impressed. This little bike (548 lbs wet) is all it is advertised to be. From the fit and finish, engineering, beauty and performance, the V Star does not need to take a back seat to any mid-sized cruiser. The V Star has proven to be very nimble, quick and very comfortable. Simply put, a pleasure to ride. I'm no different that any motorcycle enthusiast. It never seems to be good enough. With the addition of Cobra slash cut exhaust (very throaty), Memphis Shades windshield, Saddlebags and a Cobra lightbar it just got better and prettier. I couldn't be happier with my V Star. Sun Sep 04 2005Vstar is the beswt buy in the cruiser market. Dual floating callipers up front. Adequate power and torque. Needs sixth gear.

Mon Apr 05 2004I have now had my '03 V-Star for about two months, and love it's styling, ample pick-up, and low center of gravity (I'm 135 lb. 57 female). It has the look of a classic cruiser without the Harley pricetag, and I can still ride with pride with my Harley owning friends. I highly recommend it to seasoned or new riders!!
