    This is a tough one to rate. It's one of those films that in so many ways is so disturbing that you feel like you shouldn't endorse it by giving it too glowing of a rating but at the same time I recognize that I should be rating how well the film re-creates this disturbing era/event. So with that in mind I still don't think the film was worth more than a 3, it was well done but not nearly as moving as perhaps it could have been. Yes it was upsetting and enlightening but more because the events that take place in the film are so unbelieveable and disturbing, not because the writer/director/producer did such a great job of portraying them to the viewer. In case you don't know anything about the film it is about China during it's re-education era where they had a program to send city children to the country to live country lives and both spread their education and as well as learn the ways of a different part of Chinese society.
