Overall a decent movie. Some of the parts seem a bit corny or completely unrealistic but then again.. its whatever.

The movie introduced us to the characters, let us know their strengths, weaknesses and why it sucks to have their powers. It set up the bad guys, other mutants and normal people, and was entertaining as well. The perfect super hero movie. Plus, its really good with popcorn.

I found this to be a pretty good comic book movie. The visual effects are good and theres a lot of action scenes.

They were okay. If they would have staid closer to the comics it could have been better.

I'm biased, in the way that I'm an X-Man fan. The movie and any upcoming movie that is comic-based, which I have come to follow, will always be put up on a higher pedestal of judgment. In this case, X-Men, the first of many and I hope many many more sequels, is adequate for a first movie. It sets up characters, storylines, and themes. There is action, romance, and some sci-fi goodies along with the special effects. For fans, watch it on the big screen & buy the DVD; for people who are indifferent, watch it at home somehow, maybe TBS will have it in a year.

Well, you gotta expect that the movie really isn't going to be the exact depiction of the book/comic, in any circumstance, before going to see this. As a movie, it served as just one big introduction of the cast, with little else really. I liked the little cheesy one-liners and interactions between Wolverine and Cyclops--that was probably the best part of the movie. The effects were alright, especially for Mystique--she literally had that stuff painted on her, that had to be a pain! Well, don't expect too much from this movie, it's just fun to watch. (Oh, and don't worry, most people agree that the second movie is better than the first.)

Loved it. Even though I heard the second movie was greater. Actually, I was a little disappointed in finding out that Tyler Mane wasn't going to play Sabretooth in the second film. Hopefully Bryan Singer will bring him back in the third film. And I thought Halle Berry was an excellent choice in the part of Storm.

Very well done. I grew up watching and reading X-men. So I was very satisfied with how this was done. The cast was perfect with one or two exceptions. I was pleased that they decided to keep Magneto's origin. Since that is his main reason for despising mankind. But like all comic book movies it wasn't exactly like the comic. But considering that fictional characters have been turned into flesh abd blood actors it is easy to forgive these faults. I expect the same satisfaction from the sequel.

Most of the time, going from a comic book to film is a 50/50. It's either going to be very good or very bad. I thought X-Men was very good. It had a decent story and the effects were very good. It does lose something watching it on t.v. See it in a theatre if you can.

I was actuately going to give this movie a 1 but felt generous today. I got my hopes up once I saw the adverts for this movie.....but the classical american way of making crap movies look good fooled me again. With stupid lines such as when Storm says 'Do you know what happens when a frog gets hit by lightning?.....the same thing that happens to everything else'.....what kind of a line is that? This must be one of the biggest movie losers of all century. The only highlight of this movie was seeing hugh jackman.

I was dissapointed in how they skewed the comic book storyline but they did the best they could and I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

One of the best movies of all time. The cast: Great. The actress playing "Dr.Jean Grey" is very convincing. She's a very pretty woman, one like a lot of women would like to be. The girl playing "Rogue" was impressive. Haven't seen her in many films, but in this one, she was particularly good. "Cyclops" (played by James Marsden) is also VERY impressive. Haven't seen him act so well in all the other movies he's been in. Last I will be mentioning (but certaintly not least), is Hugh Jackman. Wow. I was stunned when I saw him act. I was in heaven watching him. Can life get any better than this? I don't think so. He's so amazingly talented and handsome, that I can't put it into words. I seriously love everything about him. I love his smile, his eyes, his hair, his body, even his nose! The man is highly underrated and should receive lots more attention. I am looking forward to seeing ANY other movies he ever decides to do. Heck, I saw "Someone Like You" the other day. He's wonderful. Everythi... Read more

As a kid, I collected comic books and was a big fan of the X-Men, so I really looked forward to seeing the movie. But my expectations were low, because movies have traditionally done a poor job with comic book characters. As it turns out, “X-Men” isn’t too bad at all. People complain that they didn’t include all the characters (no Nightcrawler, Colossus, Banshee, etc.), but there’s no way they could have introduced that many characters in an hour and half and still have had room for a plot. As it is, you hardly got to know Storm or Cyclops at all. And of course purists are going to find fault with the fact that small details of the comic aren’t respected (Rogue is too young, Wolverine is too tall, etc.), but give me a break – that stuff is far too minor to matter. Overall, the movie works. The special effects are great, the story is interesting enough for comic book fans but basic enough for people who are new to the X-Men, the acting is decent, and there are some good fight sce... Coming from along time reader of the X-men comics, let me say that this film seriously exceeded all expectations. Wolverine was perfect, with one-liners true to his comic book counterpart, although i think that ? would have been slightly better considering that Logan is meant to look slightly older than 30. Not even his healing powers could make him look that young. The weakest link [if there was one] has to be Rogue. Too much of her personality was melded with Jubilees', meaning that her true past from the comic books cant be explored. Also i didnt like the way that original members of the X-men were made to be teenagers. I mean anyone currently up to date with the comics, will agree that ice man is one of the most interesting characters with the expansion of his new powers. and yet here he is all spotty and hormonaly charged hitting on Rogue who is obviously just waiting for Gambit to get a call up. I know that i need to get a life, but i dont care! i'm going to go home and... Read more

I really enjoyed the movie. Being a die hard xmen comic/book/cartoon fan I could appreciate the acting in prof-X and Wolvie.I thought that even though this is the first of many sequels the Xmen seemed a little too weak and teenagerish. The fight scenes were good the first time but need more depth, especially with storm. I mean Halle didnt really move, run, jump, or anything like that and she is supposed to fly. The was too much shown in the prep-school mansion area and not enough in the lower"cool x-men" area. The danger room could have been shown..(or is that saved for the sequel with aypocolipse and the Shi'ar.) For the most part the acting was good. The COSTUMES WERE TERRIBLE!! I understand that it would be impossible to bring the comic book costumes, but they could have been a little similar at least. I did not like the "boyfriend" of rouge or soon to be iceman, he was too not like iceman.Scott Summers was not tough enough and didnt have any leadership. The movie(s) need to evolve ... Read more

First of all, let me start by stating that I have followed the Marvel Comic's X-Men for quite awhile. I think the movie was excellent. All though some of the characters could have been introduced and expounded on... (such as Storm)... the over all casting was terrific! I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone with any interests in a good flic!! I am eagerly awaiting a sequel!!

I rented this DVD this past weekend and I was expecting nothing. Absolutely nothing. I didn't think it was going to be good but was hoping it would be somewhat entertaining. Well, the DVD was really cool. The menu was awesome. The movie had good special effects and costumes. As far as following X Men even though I have never even seen a comic book, I followed it fine. It was not as bad as I thought but it still had some strong elements of cheese which prevent it from getting higher than a 3.

I could only give this movie one star because of the entertainment. As a movie itself it was one of the worst movies i have ever seen i seriously could not even sit through it. There were many actors and actresses that took part in this movie but how good could they act if they had a screenplay that was pathetic. Don't get me wrong I love comics and love marvel heroes but this was the worst portrayl of the marvel heroes ever. Rogue and sabertooth saved the movie but where the heck is Gambit?

I have been an X-Men fan for years and when I had scene the trailers for this movie I was given a low expectation, however, when I saw the movie it proved me wrong. This tale touches the viewer in a rare way, much like the comic. Here you are watching this movie which is done, for the most part, in a comic book 'storyboardesque' format, and finding that it moves you more than movies that try to be moving. This was a good movie for couples to go see. It represents the agression that men have and shows the balance for love that some viscious men possess, much like myself. Wolverine is the chief character for this. He is brutal and trusts no one, but he is in love with Dr. Jean Grey and feels a fatherly love for Rogue, just like the comic. Wolverine is the impossibility, but the necessary element in the X-Men. As for the type casting I thought it was very well done. Hugh Jackman took the character and personality of Wolverine out of the 'old school' comics and threw it on the screen. I pe... Read more

Many Stan Lee fans will be disappointed with this uninspired flop. Problem 1- X-Men traditionalists won't like the leather uniforms. Problem 2- Anna Paquin is a stick who's supposed to play the voluptuous Rogue. Problem 3- Halle Berry, while fine, does not do Storm justice.

X-Men was more of a movie for kids. It's a movie that has no point. The ending makes no sense and resolves nothing. X-Men is a cartoon that should remain a cartoon.

Solid movie - spent time dealing with the characters, plot and not just action sci-fi. Truly did justice to the origin, and gave a human side to all characters. Great cast of actors.

If you love movies and comics, this is the perfect movie for you. I thought that X-Men had to be one of the best movies of the year. I was just overwhelmed by all the special effects and how close the movie was to the comic book. It was worth my money to see.

X-Men seemes like a promising movie. My favorite Wolverine failed to meet the standard. Special effects were pretty cool but overall the story didn't go anywhere. Action is low and the plot is an absolute disaster.
