If you are a baseball fan, go to Comiskey; if you want to sit in the sun and look at the vines and listen to the ignorant drunks and dumb blondes, Wrigley is the place for you.

I have been a Cubs fan since I was 5 years old. Nearly 30 years later, STILL a Cubs fan stuck in a world of Sox fans (Family and friends) I have stood my ground. I will defend the Cubs until I die... whether they win or lose... because that's the whole point of being a fan... the good and the bad. You know, I've been sitting here, reading these comments, and for the naysayers... I have something to say. First of all, do you go to the park for the bathrooms? Who does? I don't pay attention to the bathrooms as long as theyre clean. Don't use that as an argument for the field as a whole. Secondly, does anyone remember the old Comiskey Park (or the newer one for that matter), or old Yankee Stadium? Yes, I've been to all three. Two of the three don't exist anymore - they were rebuilt....and yes, they were almost as bad as any OLD park. You cannot compare US ...whatever field... to Wrigley. When Comiskey was still standing (THE REAL ONE), then I would argue which was better. But please... Read more

ne of the great open air real grass ballparks. It is classic in its look and feel. It is much overpriced, like most other ballparks. If you are planning to see a game there, do not drive, as parking is a nightmare. Take public transportation.

I'm only Sixteen so my word may not carry much weight with the older crowd but i love Wrigley Field and there is no other stadium where that many fans will show and support a team when its forty degrees out and raining. if you've got a problem Wrigley Field then go and get your head examined or leave it alone so others can enjoy it. i love the people and the team and i hope Wrigley stay exactly the same.

Dirty place; rude people who try to pass as fans. Feared for my kids safety there. Least knowledgeable baseball crowd in the majors. Very unimpressive. Nothing but a tourist trap.

This is the best place to see a game in the country. It's nothing buty fun! And the area around it is amazing with hundreds of fun options for after the game. Whoever doesn't like Wrigley is out of their mind and should probably visit a shrink.

Overview From ivy clinging to the outfield wall to the manually-operated scoreboard, Wrigley Field is the real deal. There isn't a bad spot in the intimate, 40,000-seat house, save for a few behind the supporting beams. Standard hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, peanuts and brats can be found at vendors sprinkled throughout the stadium. If you're looking for unconventional baseball fare, try one of the specialty stands or the resident sports bar, Sheffield Grill. The Experience The usually rowdy crowd keeps Wrigley lively with sacred traditions like throwing the opposing team's home run balls back onto the field and traditional outfield chants. Although the Cubs haven't reached a World Series since 1945, the loyal fans pack the place even in September.

Man, I thought going to Wrigley was going to be a nice experience but it was horrible. The seats are cramped with very tight aisles, the food is absolutely horrible and extremely expensive, the Cubs never win and they haven't won a World Series since my great-grandma was still young, the parking is just awful and it costs around $50, plus the fans don't know the difference between the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. But, the thing that scared me the most was that I might get knocked uncoscious by falling concrete and lastly the bathrooms look like barnyards. It's like going on a farm. Horrible place and if you want a great atmosphere go to the South Side and watch a winning team.

Unless you're a die hard Sox fan who wouldn't root for the Cubs even if they do win the World Series (which we will... ... ...before I die), what's not to love about the Cubs. When someone mentions to out of towners the phrase "Chicago baseball", I gaurantee the first thing they'll say is "Cubs". They've been around since 1876 and according to my knowledge are THEE oldest league in the entire MLB, even older than the Phillies or the Red Sox. So ok, we haven't been to the World Series since 45, but hey who REALLY care; you're enjoying a Cubs game in the league's 2nd oldest ballpark (1st being Fenway). Speaking of the stadium itself, although it has gone through significant renovation throughout the years, it's one of the many symbols that puts Chicago on the map. It's history goes way back to 1914 when the Chicago Whales used to play Federal League baseball here before the Cubs moved in. Before "Da Bears" had Soldier Field to themselves, they played in Wrigley Field. Wrigley also... Read more

As a Chicago native that now lives in North Carolina, I spent most of my teenage years sitting behind first base at Cubs Park. Those are the best memories of those years. Now when I go back that is the one place that I always try to go. We have the brand-new Turner field in Atlanta where I can go to see the Cubs play; but, I would rather drive the 10 additional hours to get to Wrigley Field. Turner Field is nice, but, it is sterile and not someplace to watch a REAL baseball game. They have mascots running around?? What's that about?? Parking? Who drives to Wrigley Field? There is more than enough public transport.... Food? Eat somewhere else or bring your own Cramped seating? Try sitting in one of these newfangled stadiums....it's a whole lot worse! The atmosphere is great, the baseball awesome and the fans the best. GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually lived within walking distance of Wrigley during one summer. I live in San Francisco now and my memories of Wrigley are extremely fond. Even on a humid 90 plus degree summer I never got over being at a game at this great ballpark. I hope I can get back here soon some day even though here we have this new park that the Giants play at. I still am fond of Wrigley; I grew up in the midwest several hundred miles away and saw the Cubs on WGN with Harry Carrey announcing the games as a kid. What an awesome thrill it was to finally go to a game here. Don't get rid of this park Chicago; trust me you will regret it. It has it's annoying points but after not being here for a few years now I can't wait until I can get up some vacation time because I will come back to Wrigley for sure. Sometimes the new ballpark gets on my nerves because it's almost TOO new with flat panel plasma screens and sushi. Wrigley Field doesn't try to pretend to be a giant Wi Fi park or a winery or a high tech sp... Read more

This my first message. I have visited Wrigley Field 3 times. I enjoyed the atmosphere, however it is one of the worst places to actually watch a baseball game. Most of the fans in the bleachers could not have told you who won or lost, nor would they have cared. They enjoyed themselves and tolerated us non Cub fans. The parking was expensive. The beer was cold.

Dont get me wrong I love the cubbies, but thats just it. I love the cubs, I dont love Wrigley anymore. It has some history, but lets face it what have the cubs done there? Keeping Wrigley in tact wont get the cubbies to the world series, I'd much rather see the cubbies win the "big one" in a new stadium than sitting thru another bad season w/ concrete possibly falling on me. Look, its got great atmosphere, great fans, decent food, but a tired look. Im a baseball fan first, and a tourist a distant second.

Wrigley is THE BEST! For those of you complaining about parking - take the train! I would much rather go to a stadium in a great neighborhood like Wrigleyville than to some eyesoar surrounded by acres of parking lot. And as for the legroom, give me a break! I'm 6' 8" tall and while the seats are cramped for me they are no worse than any other stadium I've been to. The seventh inning stretch with "Take Me Out To The Ball Game", the ivey, the Bleacher Bums and everything else make Wrigley the best ball park in baseball!

Today's baseball world is saturated with new high tech fancy smancy ballpark's with all their bells and whistles and gigantor screens and bla bla bla. Sure it is great for business and for everyone to have a good time. But the thing that gets missed in all of the hoopla of the new ballpark's is why they were built in the first place. To watch the amazing game of baseball. At Wrigley Field that is all that is there. A great appreciation of a great game filled with an amazing history. For people who truly love the game there is no place better than one of the true historic places that still stands today. That is why in September when there is no hope for the Cubs making a play-off run, the stands are still full with baseball fans having a good time.

I walk to Wrigley Field, so I can't say anything bad about the parking, I always grab a bite to eat on the walk down to the park, so I can't say anything bad about the food. They sell Labatt's Blue in the bleachers, so I can't say anything bad about the beer. I pay attention to the game while it's in progress and not the people around me, so I can't say anything bad about the "fans" (though I have made several friends just shootin the stuff talkin bout everything between innings). I go to Wrigley Field to watch 9 innings of baseball, that's what I paid for, and that's what I get. The Cubs win some, the Cubs lose some, heck, that's everyone's life story. If you don't go to a Cubs game, (or any baseball game for that matter) to watch a baseball game, then don't go. Leave baseball to the fans of the game. There's no place like Wrigley.

Wrigley field is an icon. You cant judge a ballpark on what it is on the outside. It is the atmosphere and the love of the Cubbies. If you do not know the traditions of Wrigley Field then do not diss my favorite ball park in America. It still has a manual scoreboard. You do not go there expecting your favorite team to loose but its all in the atmosphere of the park. WHat park today can still say it even has a manual scoreboard? The dogs are great and the Peanut throwers are a show in themselves. Do not go to Wrigley field if you are looking for that ultra modern playing field. Go there to feel what it was like in the hayday of baseball. If you are from out of town, order a Chicago Style hot dog. Do not be surprised about the relish, it is just good. Oh and ask for a little more celery salt. Its a great park for the family and to enjoy an afternoon at the ballpark today!

I happened to be clicking through this site and started to read some of the reviews. I immediately started to laugh at some and HAD to join up so that I could post this comment. I got a kick out of some of the people reviewing Wrigley Field as; old, cramped, bad food, no parking, or even fans not caring or paying attention to the games. First off, have you ever BEEN to Wrigley Field? It's not about modern day architecture (with unobstructed views) or "parking lot" parking for your SUV. It's about a "one of a kind" experience...not a cookie cutter suburban mega-field. It was built in a time that people wanted an intimate place to watch an American Game. Wrigley Field is a place to have a time of your life...because people "check" there life concerns at the door and have a GREAT time. Win or lose! You have to see it to believe it!--and for god sake, don't expect valet parking or bathroom attendants. For that, you can stay in the suburbs!

As a Cub fan, this place is detestable...because, as long as the Cubs continue to play in Wrigley and the Tribune maintains ownership, they will never win. In order to win, the team needs to be sold OR they need to get out of a park that the rest of the world thinks is the greatest place to watch baseball AND serves as the teams biggest marketing tool ALLOWING the team to play pathetically and lose, yet continue to set attendance records.

I have been to many different baseball stadium, and honestly Wrigley Field is one of the worst to watch a game. Yes there is a lot of history in the stadium, but there's a lot of history in museums too. First, the seating is horrible, with tight rows. Next, the sight lines are bad. Unless you sit up front, chances are you will have a pole or the overhang of the upperdeck blocking your view. Parking, HA! The only parking available is at the gas stations for $30 more. The food is terrible. The hot dogs are rubber tubes filled with salt water. You can't even get a good beer to wash down the taste! The bathrooms are basically flush port-a-johns. Wrigley Field is bad place to watch baseball. If you want some history check out the Field Museum, it's cheaper, cleaner, and the product inside is much better!

What a cool park - possibly the best thing about Chicago. It's one of only a few parks left that have the old school feel to it. The houses in the outfield - man that'd be a great place to live, or at least catch a game from the rooftop.

This is old time Americana in an increasingly upscale neighborhood of Chicago. The ivy gets green about May, and then the park is in full flower. Just take the train from the loop and get off at the Addison Street station.

Wrigley Field is wonderful. Cubs fans are avid (or even rabid) no matter whether we win or lose, since it's the players and the game that count. Hot dog vendors, the scoreboard, balls getting stuck in the ivy, manager/umpire disputes, it's all about the game. If you complain it's old, then you don't appreciate the incredible history that lurks there. Plan and arrive early enough and there's plenty of parking in people's alleys - some even open their garages - all for a fee, of course, but it's about the same as parking farther away and using the shuttle. The experience is all worth at least a yearly family pilgrimage.

I don't understand the aura of this ballpark. i have been to better minor lrague parks in my lifetime. The seats are cramped and uncomfortable. If you sit under an overhang, there is a good chance a pillar will affect your sight lines, the parking and traffic congestion around the stadium is horrible. The only thing good I can say is the outfield ivy looks nice. Thats it. Its time for this relic to go.

Even if you don't like baseball, you'll like Wrigley Field. It's in one of the best neighorhoods in Chicago, the L train runs right to it, and it's a genuine ballpark - few ads, and every seat is good. Only Fenway, Camden, Yankee, and (surprisingly) Coors begin to approach the quality of this ballpark.

Except for the 2003 season the cubs are rarely title contenders for the national leage central division. Harry Carey isn't with us any more. But there's just something about sitting down into a seat in Wrigley Field with a program in one hand, a hot dog in the other, and a beer/soda sitting at your feet. A wonderful experience.

There's nothing that sums up a classic Chicago getaway better then a day pilgrimage to the legendary Wriggley field. If you can actually find reasonable parking and a ticket, then sitting way out in the bleachers, shades on, flesh bared and burning, beer in hand, is nothing short of a religious experience. In the pews of Wriggley, surrounded by the greenest of ivy, a normally cool lake breeze, and a couple thousand rowdy friends, you can't help but feel the energy and excitement of the experience. You can still feel the ghost of ole' Harry Carey, the god-father of Cubs baseball, roaming its bleachers. A Carey-led seventh inning stretch belting of, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, is a sacred rememberance. The smells, the sights, eh and da' beer make this a must-do, must-see outing/experience while in Chicago.

More tourist destination than place to watch baseball. Most don't watch the game. Fans care about seeing Sosa HRs than a win. Too many drunken young adults. Concession area is DREARY and bathrooms are awful. Tickets expensive and hard to get just to see losing team. Plenty of great seats, but more lousy (obstructed) seats than people ever admit. Not all views of Wrigley are beautiful - exterior consists of concrete slabs and chain link fences. Great neighborhood w/ lots of bars and restaurants. Parking is the worst, but el access is good. Too many of Wrigley's faults get excused away as "charm". Comiskey is a better place to watch and enjoy a MLB game in Chicago.

Wrigley is the best ballpark there is to watch a game: period. Sure there are fans who don't watch the game and go to drink, but that's part of it. The scoreboard is old-fashioned and real fans will love it. The only negative is the trough in the men's restroom, but again, that's part of it. If you don't take the L or bus to the game, then your just dumb and shouldn't complain about parking.

First thing I did in my first visit to the Friendly Confines was grab a Brat and a Beer. Then sat back and watched baseball in one of its temples. I've seen Fenway, and Wrigley just puts it to shame. The crowd reminds me that a team can stink and people will still be loyal and unless you're a Chi-Sox fan you gotta love the Cubbies.
