I have used this kennel a number of times for boarding, grooming and even training. Altogether we have spent several hundred dollars at their establishment. I recently made an appointment to have both my dogs groomed. I showed up at the appointed time, the front door was open, but there was nobody at the front desk. I waited 15 minutes, rang the doorbell and called several times. Finally, a caretaker comes out, rudely tells me that they don't open for another 15 minutes and insists that I must leave. If you want a kennel were they just want your money and don't care about customer service, this place is ideal.

We just returned from a 6 day trip and had left our two dogs in Woodmen Kennels' care. BIG MISTAKE. First, we followed BBB advise which was to Personally visit the facilities. Check for cleanliness and offensive odors and note the overall safety of the kennel and cages. What I noticed is that every boarding facility we visited, (Petsmart, PawsAbove, Camp BowWow), allowed us to see where the dogs were kept. The EXCEPTION being Woodmen Kennels, We as pet owners, made the mistake of not heeding the red flag on that and reserved with them anyway. What do they have to hide? If it is policy that owners aren't able to view where their pet is to be kept, for safety reasons, then build a gated viewing area. Our Great Dane can NOT sleep on concrete, and we were told that she would not be, when we offered to bring in her own bedding, it was discouraged, due to the 2 xs daily bleaching that the runs would receive and that she would be provided with thick comforters, blankets, etc. Whatever, ... I do personally know the Johnsons- they have been given extremely high honors in the world of Dog breeding- they are some of the most revered dog breeders in the country- They could NEVER attain that status if they showed dogs who were anything but extremely well socialized and trained and loved animals. Furthermore, their son, Colton has shown a puppy that i bred and sold to a pet home in the Springs, and has turned her into a confident show pup, and treated her with the utomost care and respect- my dogs don't do well at ALL with any kind of heavy handed training - I would recommend them as a breeder, training facility and as a handler for show dogs.

There is not one bad thing i can say about the Johnson family or their kennels. I have used many of there services and have never been disappointed. The mad employee seems to have left on bad terms and is trying any way to get back at them. Very disrespectful i think. Anyways, i would recommend them for any of the sevices they offer. You can guarantee that a family who is all about dogs and has been for many many years, know just how to take care of your pet and assure them a safe and comfortable environment. A wonderful family with two excellent kennels, Who can top that?!?!

I have purchased several older Bouviers from this wonderful family. I have seen where the dogs are kept and the conditions of these wonderful dogs, and I have to disagree. I am on my 3rd dog from them and am honored that they would even sell me a dog. They have been wonderul to help me with everything from boarding, grooming and training of my pets! I have been treated with nothing but respect from them and their staff. I do know that when I have purchased all of my older Bouviers ( from 1 year to 5 yrs) they take time to adjust, but have never been mis-treated by anymeans. Not only do I continue to use their services, but have recomended several freinds with other types of dogs and have never heard a complaint. I would srongly reccomend them and will now and forever use their services.

I can second that. I was an employee at woodmen kennels/sunrise kennels and I can tell you that the breeding animals are kept in extremely poor conditions. The bouviers bred there have absolutely NO human contact AT ALL and the full grown breeding Old English Sheepdogs are kept in 2 foot by 2 foot metal "crates" and only allowed out for 15 minutes during my 8 hour shift. Also 90% of the staff there is mexican and dosent speak english so management has no control over what they do.You wouldnt believe some of the things ive seen these people do to peoples dogs that are boarding there.(Ive seen them torment dogs, kick at dogs, saw one once hit a dog!!) I would NOT RECCOMEND boarding your dogs or buying dogs bred from Doug Johnson or Sunrise Kennels/Woodman Kennels

Rude, horrible people who don't care about their customers or their kennel pets. I returned a sick dog they sold to me and not one person asked what was wrong with him, what the dog's syptoms were, or how long he had been sick.. My guess, they already knew when they sold the poor neglected dog to me (at top dollar) in the first place. There is something wrong with people who treat animals in that fashion. Shame on them.
