Wed Nov 04 2009I live in an apartment in an urban neighborhood in central Seattle, on a street that is in a valley. I'm near the towers, but there are trees and buildings that block the reception. I had digital TV rabbit ears from Radio Shack, and with it received two to three channels consistently, and received all the other channels intermittently. When a favorite show was on, I sometimes walked around the room with the antenna trying to get a glimpse of the show and would stand holding the rabbit ears in order to watch. After over-researching and reading reviews, I decided to try the Winegard SS-3000. It does work as promised--I receive all local channels strongly now. I am completely satisfied with its reception. YAY!!!!!!! As far as aesthetics go, it looks sleek and fine except for the reflector, which is the mesh looking thing behind the antenna. It's just a little funny looking. However, I don't mind as I can now watch a show if I want to. As far as packaging goes, I was imp... Read more

Tue Nov 03 2009I got this based on the reviews here. I have difficulty picking up a digital station that is 21 miles from me (with rabbit ears) so I thought I would give this a shot. Even though this is power amped, it did absolutely no better than rabbit ears. In fact, it did a little worse, as it didn't pick up all the 'junk' channels the rabbit ears did. That was ok, as they were 'junk' channels, but still I expected at least the same performance and better. I realize this will depend on distance and terrain, but 21 miles isn't that far away. Save your money, go see what rabbit ears will do and if you're close to getting most channels, stick with the ears.

Thu Oct 29 2009third antenna after the digital switch over, first one that works without dropouts. The others were the DB2 and clearstream 4, both with the best amplifier i could find. This antenna pulls in more pictures and with better signal quality than the others - and I spend tens of hours with the others experimenting with antenna angles/positions/etc.. Setting: metro apartment with transmitters coming from all directions (Mock) Cons: the xtra channels i got were either repeats or religious. There are soooo many over-the-air exclusively christian religious channels out there (12 of 30 in my Portland, Oregon area and this is one of the least religious areas of the USA) it is absolutely ridiculous- and scary. Makes one feel they are living in a christian nation and other world views are unwelcome. If I went to a middle eastern fundamentalist country I wouldn't expect this ratio of religious channels. Luckily, those channels are deletable but consider keeping a couple for comic relief, serio... Read more

Wed Oct 21 2009I also have a Wineguard Square Shooter outdoor antenna. And this SS-3000 indoor antenna works at least as well. I live in the Evergreen area of San Jose, CA. And I am able to pick up all the major broadcast stations *most* of the time (ABC 7-x and Fox 2-x sometimes drop out). But I truly only care about the PBS channels and sub-channels (9-x, 54-x), and I always receive them, so I'm mostly happy. I would give it 5 stars, but I do have the complaint is that there are no mounting locations, brackets, or holes anywhere on the anntenna--forcing you to need to place it on top of some flat surface. Also, the material and construction quality are flimsier than what it looks like in the photos; but that doesn't really matter.

Wed Oct 07 2009The Winegard SS-3000 Indoor HD Antenna has miraculously changed my free HDTV experience. I initially bought a Philips High Performance Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna in which first the metal coxal cable connection snapped off. The second replacement order of the same Philips Amplified Antenna broke when adjusting the metal rabbit ears. The Winegard SS-3000 is definitely heavy duty & will not break if it falls. I live on the 3rd floor of a 4-story apartment complex in the densest section of Los Angeles & my reception is great! During the late afternoon/early evening reception for our local ABC channel falls in & out, but it's possible due to being sandwiched in a multi-unit apartment complex & possibly from the surrounding neighborhood radio/3g/wifi/wave activity. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the Winegard SS-3000 HDTV Indoor Antenna for those looking to purchase an indoor, dependable, affordable & durable antenna.
