An absolute joke but I give Wiccans three stars because they have some real hot smart/alterna girls that practice this stuff. One the serious side, Wiccans tend to be rather smart and open-minded. . .but I don't take this stuff very seriously. Wiccans are charming losers in a race to make the most ridiculous religion - and that's quite a strong field. . .

They may put the Kook in "Cuckoo for Cocopuffs" but they seem like they're having a good time.

Hard to rate this one. It is not one of the major religions, more of the sect of an extinct religion. It is not Satanism as Satan has no place in the Wicca pantheon. It is a new movement based on old ideas. Wicca is based on the extinct beliefs of ancient Celtic society dating around 800 BC. It is partly based on the Goddess and the horned God and the fertility beliefs of the ancient Europeans. It is very difficult to study and trace the history of Wicca because there is so little archeological evidence for it and no written records of beliefs and practices. This, to me, raises many questions of the validity of many of their current claims. Much of what is written now is very biased and of little historical worth. Modern day Wiccans trace their beliefs to the writings of Charles Leland, Margaret Murray and Gerald Gardner. All are as young as the 19th to mid 20th Century. Gardner claims that Wiccan ideas have continued for centuries, but there is little evidence to back that up. Ther... Read more

Wicca (pronounced Weird-a) is a Neopagan religion dating back to the early thirteenth century BC. Archeological records indicate that Marshall “Hale-Bop” Applewhite came up with the idea after receiving a strange vision from Satan. In this vision, Satan appeared as a morbidly obese 500-pound woman (with more chins than a Chinese phone book) who happened to bare a strange resemblance to Barbara Bush while wearing nothing more than a Horned Viking helmet. This vision not only made Applewhite go blind, become celibate, and loose all interest in young boys he also develop the guidelines for Wiccan practices, which are considered a modern day fusion of Dungeon and Dragons, Yahtzee, witchcraft, Catholicism, Mormonism, and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Wicca often referred to as World of Witchcraft or WOW, requires a $20 dollar a month service fee and caters to followers that call themselves Shamans, Druids, Witches, Mages, Warlocks, Rogue Priests, and Knight Elf Mohawks. Wiccan followers are not d... Read more

I may be an atheist, but my dad is pagan, and I've always found the Wiccan religion to be very interesting. While I may not practice it, I do like to read about it. Reading all these hateful comments about it on here makes me sick, and I'm not even a practitioner, so I can't imagine how frustrated they must feel. Calling it devil worship and terrible. What exactly is so terrible about it? Maybe if some of you would do your research you would understand. Wicca is NOT devil worshiping. In fact, Wiccan's don't even believe in the devil. Satan was invented by YOUR religion. All the Wiccan's I know are also very friendly and non-judgmental. Some of you could really learn a thing or two from them. I don't see a bunch of hate and judgments flying out of their mouths, like I see from some of you.

The description above is kind of misleading and incomplete. Wicca itself is from the last century. But it's a movement that was based on re-creating the culture (culture is a better word for it than religion) of pre-Celtic ancient Europe. http://www.knowth.com/ireland_pre-celtic.htm http://northernway.org/homepage.html http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Polytheisti c_reconstructionism

"A nature-based religion popularised in 1954 by Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant, who at the time called it Witchcraft. He said that the religion, of which he was an initiate, was a modern survival of an old witchcraft religion which had existed in secret for hundreds of years, originating in the pre-Christian paganism of Europe. The veracity of Gardner's statements cannot be independently proven, however, and it is possible that Wiccan theology began to be compiled no earlier than the 1920s." It sounds only slightly more formal and rooted in actual epistemological grounds than my wife's book club.

Haven't picked a religion but it ranks right up there with me. The peacefulness and the nature consciousness of it ranks high. Also, it seems like a very empowering religion as opposed to the dispowering beliefs of original sin and an angry sadistic god

Wicca is a Sissyfied rip off of older pagan beliefs, Around 90 years ago, Gardner made up the religion when he took paganism, cut it's balls off, forced it to wear a dress and heels, and called it Wicca

Whatever its origins, In Wicca we have an attempt to harness magic ( one most oldest known of only a few holistic systems that realize the awesome potential of Humanity's creative potential, what in my opinion may be our quantum intelligence birthright) into an ordered system using the order and harmonic balance observed in nature as a logical framework. This is good what is bad is the persistent tendency to deify numerous spirits and defer to superstitious traditions that constrict the outlook of seekers. A neo feminist arrogance has also settled into this movement that smacks of the ancient serpent cult's influence. It is probably sad that Christian persecution of both magic practice and ironically it's more inquisitively methodical and consensus oriented cousin the Scientific methods so successfully, I wonder if humanity might be further along in understanding it's ultimate place in the universe and have a better sense of our priorities and I'm sure as individuals and communities wou... obviously I'd think so-but I am also a solitary practioner, and if I feel that I need insight, I pray and chant, as I am a solitary practioner-initially, 12yrs. ago, I referred to several books about Wicca(mostly Celtic and Nordic) in order to understand it-however, now that I'm grown, am able to seek advice from my guide, and "travel" to the astral plane, I do not seek insight or advice from "men", cuz who kno's if Gardener was right?! not one person in my opinion, n u also have ppl that used manipultion in order to to "create" what they wished to happen(I'm speaking of Aleister Crowley, just for example-there have been others that do that as well, but Crowley is most well known to most ppl)-tho, at this point in time(for bout 12yrs. now) this is my chosen path, so I do recognize that I'm biased
