Wed Feb 16 2011I went to the store in downtown Des Moines. Dr Daniel Draayer seemed nice enough; he did a good examination and his prescription was right on - I can see great. But - like the commenter who said the staff treat you well - until they get your money - is right on. Rick is the employee that I worked with to order my bi focals; and everything was great - he was friendly and eager to please - until he got my bi focal wrong and I asked them to correct it. When I ordered my glasses - He put a "rush" on it and I got them back in 2 days. But when I told him the bifocal was too high (under my iris not my lower eye lid) his demeanor began to change. Immediately he got defensive and started bending the nose pieces to try to make it work. I told him it still seemed to high but I'd try it for a couple of days. The frames were now off centered, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed him being the "professional" at an eye care center, he'd know how to fix it when I went back. Well ... Read more

Sat Mar 06 20100 stars!! baileydon hit it right on. My husband had his eyes tested by doctor powell.It had been 3 yrs. since his last visit. He is supposed to go every two years for a regular exam and once a year for medical, as he is a diabetic. Several things made it hard for him to get an eye exam when needed.We have vision insurance and we pay a $5.00 copay. My husband's exam was rather short, and dr. powell charged him for the medical exam. My husband had to pay a $30.00 copay, and this upset him.He asked the girl at the reception desk for the corporate number. She replied that she couldn't give him that number. Like baileydon said she needs to wear something else. My husband made the comment to me when he came out that the receptionists top was cut way very low and not at all appropriate attire for her job. Mon Nov 20 2006The WHylie Eye Care Center in ALtoona is terrible when it comes to fixing a manufacturers problem with frames. My husband bought a pair of glasses and also sunglasses from this store and we have had to go back about once every 3 weeks for them to put the lenses back in. They refuse to make it right with us and there is NO Corporate website to complain to! He needs these to drive as he drives over the road for a living!!! Go figure!

Thu Jun 29 2006The Whylie Eye Care Center in Ankeny is horrific. The associates will treat you with respect and a good natured willing to help UNTIL they get your money. If you have any questions when you receive your glasses, or are dissatisfied in any way, they are the most unhelpful people. One even got angry at me and grabbed the glasses from my hand. She then refused to let me take them home because she said I would always be coming back and complaining. She then insisted on making me take a refund, although they would only be able to refund the frames, the lenses were mine to keep... even though that was the part I was unhappy with! I will never go back to Whylie's, and recently when both my sister and my grandmother needed glasses, I drove them 30 min away to West Des Moines, rather than have to visit Whylie's again and subject them to the rude service I received.
