I would either break down....or react with recoiling hatred towards the person I'd just told I love you. That's NOT okay to say...unless it's between a couple that is teasing each other. I only mention that because I can imagine my girlfriend doing that to me at some point.

I'm not sure. I made the biggest mistake this past year telling a woman that I loved just that...."I love you". She wasn't ready to hear that, and I chased her off.

When you speak the magic words, you put yourself in a very vulnerable position. What would you like to hear back? Rate the best and worst reponses to "I love you." I love you more....

I feel that you should say what you feel when you feel it. If he doesn't say it back, well at least you know where you stand in the relationship. It gives you the upper-hand in a way. Sure, it's not the greatest feeling to have someone not say it back because everyone wants to be in love with someone who has the same feelings towards you, but for me, if he's not feeling it, at least I know. I do feel that people throw those words around a little to much and too quickly. Be sure before you say them.

The feeling of being loved and the giving of love is wonderful. If someone gave genuinely of themselves and state "I love you"(that's giving). If you cannot genuinely give back then that's selfish. Selfish Relationships don't last. To be loved and to return love...heh don't won't to be corny but as they say "love makes the world go around". Oh... if you hadn't realized - I am a hopeless romanticist!

I dont like this phrase, I feel that it's pretty much saying 'What you're saying is meaningless and not very important to me right now'. Its a slap in the face, it's as if you're not being listened too. If someone expresses feelings about something, and you respond with 'whats you're point?' The POINT is, you should be listening, and sharing your opinion. If you dont want too, you can say it in a nicer way. It's not very considerate.

I think that love is given and recieving not just one sided! It takes two to make or break it and it is alot of work to keep it. People seem to use this word too freely anymore.

Ouch, that would really hurt! I've never been a relationship, so I've never say "I Love You" to anyone except family, but I'm guessing it would hurt to get the response, "What's Your Point?". I'd probably be like... my point is get out of my face before I slap you silly.
