Well to be honest, most people in England stopped caring what the Pope thinks at some point in the 1530s...

What he thinks is much less of a concern than what he says and does.

Pope John Paul didnt hide anybody!! I have tramendus respect for the man, ( Who is now dead ) What I dont like is the new Pope saying if you havent been activly gay for 3 years you can become a priest!!! What is this crap. He is taking what John Paul said and totally threw it all away. If you are gay, I guess you dont read the bible!!!!

It doesn't matter what the Pope thinks - or what you or I think - or anyone else. All that matters is what God has revealed to us in His Word. He knows what His intentions were when He made us.

It is absolutely NOT important what the Pope says about homosexuality. The man is too old to make most decisions anyways. Unfortunately, this church and this man do have alot of power in the world.

He's such an idiot....He only cares about his Catholic people and not the rest of the world. He never helped anyone except the catholics. He's never helped any continent except Europe. What about all the kids with AIDS in Africa? What about the kids in the Middle East?

Being a pedophile is worse than gravely immoral. Covering up pedophilia and protecting pedophiles in your own church is evil. The pope has no moral authority on the issue of homosexuality.

The Catholic Church is so mixed up in their politics and have been for a very long time. They have a lot of work to do before anyone gives their ideas any credence.

I have some fundamental doctrinal differences with Catholics. The Pope may be a decent man who was a great freedom fighter during the Cold War. He does have some legitimate concerns, but we shouldn't take the man's words as being divinely inspired. The problem I have with Catholic doctrine is that it vests too much power in the clergy. Nowhere does it say that the Pope or anyone else should intercede on the behalf of God. Frankly, I don't like the ideas of having to confess my sins to some priest. No, that is between me and God and the intercessor is Jesus Christ. Anything else is nothing short of blasphimous! The recent gay-pedophilia scandals shows that the church has to change. The Catholic church is an aging organization that needs to be overhauled from top to bottom. Priests should be allowed to marry, the land tenure system that basically allows priests to live fully on the dime of the church must go as well. If the church is going to survive into the 21st Century, it must do thi... Read more

I don't care what the pope thinks. I'll have him back over to Sinead O'Connor so she can rip him again and this time it won't be just a picture!

I am not catholic so I do not pay much attention to what the Pope says. I am sure he is a good man. but i am not one who looks to one person to decide what I believe in.

I'm not Catholic, but even if I was...the Pope's opinions on this matter would still have no barrings on my opinion. Here I thought we were supposed to seperate church and state, so why is he even pushing for the gay rights thing to be banned? I agree with his right to say it, but I will never agree with him about this, if that is the opinion that he keeps.

I'll be blunt- who gives a rat's ass. I think the catholic church has enough on its plate to last a lifetime with priest molestations. They need to take care of pedophiles before getting all high and mighty about gays anyway.

The Pope is just a man who was done wonderful work during his life. And he certainly has his right to his opinions. Just like I have the right to mine. I think he's wrong. Flat out. He calls it gravely immoral to give gays rights. That's his opinion. Now show me where the Pope should have any affect on political issues. Gay Rights is not a religious, but a political issue. What religions or the Bible says about homosexuality dosen't matter. What does the Pope think? I really do not care any more.

I'm a Catholic. However, I do not in any way value the opinions or beliefs of the Pope. I worship Jesus Christ- not a man dressed like Liverachi's stunt double. I fully support protecting the traditional institution of marriage. However, I see no reason why there cannot be a Civil Union like there is in Vermont which allows gays to have the same rights and benefits as straight couples. The Pope and the Church argues that homosexuality is morally unacceptable. Oh, but I suppose the sexual abuse of children is OK. Funny when homosexuals get the rap for being pedophiles (when in fact most are not), but the priests get away with it for forty years. Raping children is morally acceptable? Mr. Pope, you may want to fix things inside the Vatican before you stick your nose in the legal issues facing the United States of America.
