Wed Feb 18 2009I don't know. I think 18 is okay but we tend to vote for better American Idols than leaders and issues.

Wed Feb 18 2009I personally think 18 is old enough, but then again it depends on the individual. Some are mature enough to make decisions and others aren't, but what does that really prove? I've seen some people up there in age that shouldn't be making decisions at all.

Mon Apr 21 2008Depends. For some folks I'd make it about 90, and hope they came from short lived families. There's an old saying in politics that no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the electorate.

Sun Apr 20 200818 that's when you are considered an adult by goverment standards and you are hopefully more mature than 16 and not really old like 25.

Sun Apr 20 2008eighteen. if someone is old enough to fight in a war they are old enough to vote. younger people should have a say too. If they can get jobs pay taxes, go to war etc. they should get that chance to decide and vote who they want in office. i like the thought of all age groups, men women, minorites having their say. a lot better than before the early 1900s when only white men could vote.

Sun Apr 22 2007Twenty-five. Just because you are old enough to pull a trigger does not mean you are smart enough or mature enough to pull a voting lever or punch a ballot. By Thor's Holy Trousers, you can drive at 16. Does that make you a competent driver?

Thu Mar 29 2007Maybe everyone should take an IQ or a common sense test before voting, regardless of age.I know some pretty smart young people with good sense, as well as some dumb older ones that should be banned from the voting booth.

Thu Mar 29 2007We've got it right. Now we just need to make the drinking age match up.

Thu Mar 29 2007I think 18 is fair enough.

Tue Jan 03 200616. The kids who care enough to bother to vote are probably more informed than the average 40 year old. Plus, I think it's a good idea to stimulate a civic consciousness at a young age. If they feel they are given a stake in society, they are more likely to develop a sense of community into adulthood. Right now, we live in a country where young people are willing to cross a sea to fight for their country, but not willing to cross a street to vote.

Wed May 18 200518 if you're a legal adult that can go to war than you damn well better be able to vote. Also it should have nothing to do with your employment status. Government decisions have large affects on more than the working man. and besides hte age you gave, 21, is an age where many people are still in college and unemployed. should people pursuing a degree not have the right to vote?

Wed Mar 16 2005At LEAST 18.Sorry, I know many young folks who are mature enough before 18,and also that some people never grow up- but experience still IS the greatest teacher and the average person seems to have too little of it before going out in the world alone for awhile. You have to be 21 to even drink legally, for chrismassakes!

Wed Feb 23 2005Should stay at eighteen, it's about the right age. Most people who are younger are too influenced by their parents and peers.

Mon Feb 21 2005Over here you can vote at 18 (and they want to lower that to 16)..If you can marry, drive a car, have sex, pay taxes and be sent off to war at this age, you can vote. Louie , everyone is entitled to vote since policies affect everyone, not just those working. You should however be registered as a citizen and should have made contributions into the country.

Sat Feb 19 200516 years old. Why? Because there are many 16-year olds who have jobs and have their own lives already. Trust me on that.

Sat Feb 19 200521 years old and each person who votes should have a job or be married to an employed individual.People who do not work should not have the power to elect officials that will in turn affect the working man/woman.

Thu Jul 08 2004I think the voting age at 18 is pretty damn good as it is. At 18 your old enough to know what is going on in the world. Any thing younger your vote may not be serious and there might not be good reason behind this.

Sat Jun 12 2004if someone is able to form an informed opinion on the issues i believe they should be allowed to vote. i would much rather have a 16 year old in the voting booth than behind the wheel of a car.

Mon Feb 16 2004I like 18 just fine. I can't vote yet, but I'm not anxious. I'd rather wait until I actually know what I'm doing, before I decide who could run the country.

Wed Feb 11 2004I don't deny that there are some intellegent and mature youngsters who happen to be under eighteen (in fact, those qualities better prepare the kids for adulthood), but that doesn't change my thoughts that the miniumum voting age should always stay eighteen. It would change our country drastically even if it were lowered just by a couple of years. I don't think we have that to worry about, anyway, because the majority of the people probably wouldn't go for it. Don't get so antsy, kids!

Tue Dec 23 200318 should stay the legal voting age

Mon Oct 20 2003I'd love to vote. I think as soon as you get a job and start paying taxes like me, then you should be allowed to vote.

Mon Oct 13 200318 is fine, no reason for a change.
