Wed Dec 21 2011My three year old lab mix loves this food! Each and every dog is different, but I recommend at least trying this brand if you are looking to switch foods. It has all natural ingredients and my dog, at least, loves the taste of it and she is doing totally healthy on this food.

Fri Apr 01 2011I don't feed Wellness, but I know a lot about pet foods. If your dog likes this brand and is doing well on it, then by all means continue to feed it. You should be aware though that Wellness was receintly bough by a large corporaton...not sure which one, but a corporation, whose profit margin is the most imporant thing, can not be good for a food's long term quality. ( Look at Iams and Eukanuba) Another thing I want to comment on is the misbelief that a high protein food can lead to kidney disease. That is simply not true. A high protein diet is not good for an animal that HAS kidney disease, but it will not CAUSE kidney disease.

Thu Oct 28 2010I weaned my litter of pups onto this food, have been a breeder for 30 years and this litter of pups developed severe case diarrhea!!!! I took in a stool sample to the vets thinking maybe parasites, was sent to the lab, fecal was negative. Trying to keep them clean, which was almost impossible because of the explosive diarrhea, while bathing them, they also had what appeared to be a staph infection on their faces, neck and paws! They seem to consume a lot more water than normal also. I also had purchased a case of canned food and when I opened one of the cans of Wellness Puppy Food as I had been adding about a tablespoon of this to the Wellness Puppy Kibble (Yellow Bag), I found a large, white, shard of very hard plastic in the can of food, it had raised, rough ridges on it, still don;t know what it was from???? I tried to email the Wellness Company, but my email would not submit, so I called to tell them what I had found. They said sorry, they will look into it and said they would send... Read more

Mon Oct 11 2010We recently got a mini aussie doodle from a breeder. Due to moderate (human) allergies in our family, I wanted to pick a kibble that did not have corn as an ingredient. I researched the dozens of grain free choices out there for hours, and finally chose Wellness puppy because it was a price point I could tolerate and it was easily accessible at the Feeders across the street. I was impressed by most of the reviews I saw about Wellness and was very comfortable with my choice. I sent a bag to the breeder so that we would avoid transitioning foods when the puppy came home. She only had Wellness from her first solid food (to the best of my knowledge). This puppy was so sick when we got her home that the vet told us within the first 48 hours of having her that she thought it was parvovirus (never mind about the breeder giving us this sick dog-another story!!). For 3 weeks we ran all sorts of tests, xrays, went on and off meds, trying to figure why this puppy had constant bloody, loose ... Read more

Wed May 05 2010I bought this food for my English Mastiff 4mth old puppy and it's the worst reaction to a food he's had. He has unbelievable gas, diarrhea and now vomiting. He's refusing food, and is absolutely miserable. I will definitely NOT be purchasing this brand again.

Thu Apr 15 2010Love the senior food! We bought Chocolate a bag of Wellness just for seniors(he's 10) a couple weeks ago. He has dropped 2 lbs! I don't have to stress as much over his portion sizes. And shiny coat and tons of energy, as expected with any Wellness product :P Love it! I am also a believer in plenty of variety so he gets 2 raw eggs a week and a can of sardines(salt-free in water) a week. I had been feeding CORE but I think I'll try out the other super5mix formulas since Chocolate did so well on them and rotate that with the Core.

Tue Feb 16 2010I usually feed my Bull Terrier and Dachshund Avoderm but I noticed that Wellness Super5Mix was on sale at one of the local pet stores so I picked up a bag to mix in with their regular food. I heard so many good things about this food that I expected my dogs to love it. I started by mixing in just a small bit of Wellness with the AvoDerm with a goal of mixing it half and half. I couldn't even get that far! The first night I mixed in just a tiny bit with the Avoderm and that night my Bull Terrier had terrible diarrhea in her kennel (which is very out of the ordinary for her). Additionally, she vomited in her kennel over night. Because she is a big chewer and voraciously chews on her rawhides, and because my dachshund had normal stool the next morning, I accredited the diarrhea and vomiting to the rawhide she had after dinner. However, when I got home from class later in the day, my dachshund had vomited up his food in his kennel and when I let him out he had terrible diarrhea and straine... Read more

Mon Feb 15 2010I switched my dogs from the Science Diet to this after learning about proper nutrition and health. My dogs LOVE this stuff and you can smell the difference as soon as you open the bag. Its been about 2 months now and my GSD especially is thriving on it. Her coat is so shiny, and plush, and just today my vet remarked on how gorgeous it looked. She is on the Large Breed Puppy formula and is growing nicely. I think its hogwash what some have said about the extra protein causing your dog to be more hyperactive! Not true at all in my pup! I highly recommend this dog food. It is worth every penny!

Wed Dec 23 2009This is a really great food. This is the first quality food I had my dogs on and only switched to try grain free. They loved it and did really well on it.

Wed Sep 23 2009First, I would like to preface that I am not the type of person to write reviews. Despite being a tech entrepreneur, I am rarely impressed or unhappy enough with a particular product to spend the time writing something about it. That said, I highly recommend that you do not purchase this dog food for your dog. Initially, my girlfriend and I fed our dog a very expensive wet food brand. After about a year of owning our Maltipoo, we figured we would switch to a dry dog food to save us a little time and money (defrosting and preparing the wet food could be time consuming). Having received a recommendation from a close friend, we thought we would give Wellness a try. The brand seemed to be big on the natural ingredients and it seemed like more of premium (i.e., I care about my dog) brand, and I suppose we liked that. HOWEVER, after roughly three weeks into the food, our dog got as sick as we've ever seen her in her one year life time. Thinking it was the treats we were giving her, w... Read more

Wed Aug 12 2009One of my favorite brands, even if they did dilute the formula a bit for the national Petco expansion. Still light years ahead of 99% of the foods on the market.

Wed Mar 25 2009I think this food is pretty great. I just can't afford to buy it. So I buy a few cans and give my dogs a few spoonfuls a day. My young guy loves that stuff! I'm a 30 lb+ bag buyer and I have to buy 2 bags a month. They have great marketing, too.

Tue Dec 16 2008My 55# standard poodle loves this brand so much that we actually use it as "treats" for her. If she gets a bowlful, she will eat it so quickly that she will vomit it all back up. There is something in there that she loves and she makes a pig of herself with it. We now use 1/6 Wellness, 5/6 Kirkland Chicken formula (she does not tolerate Lamb at all). This is wonderful food, maybe too wonderful! For the price, it may be worth it for a smaller dog that eats much less. For our dog, 3 cups a day is a substantial cost, especially if she inhales it then throws it back up. She also vomits if she drinks icy cold water, or icecubes. If given in small increments throughout the day she tolerates this brand very well, , or cut with other foods that she is more apt to eat 'like a lady'.

Wed Dec 10 2008This dog food is to hight in Calcium, Phosphorus and Protein!!! Which won't hurt your dog short term but in long term puts your pet at risk for Kidney Disease.

Mon Nov 26 2007I've done a lot of research and this is one of the best all natural dog foods out there. My dogs love it, their skin is great, no stomach problems and they are so happy and healthy thanks to Wellness! I RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DOGS!!! Try their treats too (Old Mother Hubbard)

Mon Oct 01 2007Boxers are known for being susceptible to gas. My Boomer is aptly named, but since switching to Wellness dry with about a third of a can of Wellness canned food, fed once a day, he stays slim, energetic and blessedly flatulance-free. I also note, over a few months, that skin bumps are disappearing. I've tried several top brands, and this seems the most healthful.

Tue Jan 23 2007My pug had stomach problems and I have tried every food out there. The only thing that worked was Science diet until I found this one. Its more natural and my dog does enjoy eating it more and have not had any problems since I switched a couple of years ago. Love this brand.

Sun Jun 18 2006Wellness has taken an already great product and improved it even further. I initially tried introducing Wellness to my black lab in 2003 and found her to be intollerant of the Lamb formula. So i put her on another food all the while hoping the Wellness formula would change a tad so i could try her on it again. I transitioned her onto the new Wellness about two weeks ago and she is doing fantastic!! She has a lot of food allergies and sensativities, but we have found the new and improved Wellness to work wonderfully for her. The high quality ingredients really do make a world of a difference - especially for a working dog!
