Tue Oct 06 2009It is OK to cut the bread. It is very difficult to cut the frozen meat. It is not so easy to clean it.

Wed Sep 30 2009I've read through most reviews here and was shocked to hear everyone's difficulty with cleaning / removing the blade etc. All I can say is I use this thing almost every day for slicing meats, cheese, veggies (tomatoes are the best) and even fresh baked bread and love it! It is not perfect and cannot compare to a professional deli slicer by any means and at times I wish the blade did spin a little faster for a cleaner cut but for under $100 you get what you pay for and I think for most it should be fine. As far as the cleaning goes, at first I was a little intimidated because I have heard horror stories with this and other slicers taking A LONG time to clean but I feel this is one of the easiest appliances to clean once you get the hang of it. The blade removes easily without tools (I think older models were different) and the rest of the machine you just wipe clean with a rag or sponge and dry for storage (or if your like me it will become one with your kitchen counter).

Thu Aug 06 2009I purchased mine at a wholesale store because it was half the price of amazon. The machine is great, super easy to clean, and cuts very well.

Sun Jun 14 2009I've read all the complaints and found them groundless. What did you expect from a $100. food slicer? I worked in a butch shop as a kid and did all the lunchmeat slicing, and I can tell you this is not one of those slicers...and I never expected it to be! I bought this machine specifically to slice roast pork, roast beef, tender loin and brisket. I smoke these meats in my Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. I don't slice the meats after they're done cooking on the slicer, especially if I want half inch or larger slices. For that, I use a good 12 inch slicing knife for that job. If you want to use the slicer to cut the meat right after cooking, be prepared for the juices to run everywhere and the meat to be almost unmanageable while slicing. I slice them after they've been refrigerated overnight. Because the motor is slow, I take my time when using the slicer, I don't force the meat through the blade. I allow the blade enough time to cut its way through the meat. The point I'm trying ... Read more

Sat Jun 06 2009I have never reviewed a product before, but I feel so disappointed I felt I had to share. If Waring had any sense of honesty about this product they would drop the "Pro" and "Professional Quality" from its packaging. They shouldn't charge anymore than $50 and refer to it as "light duty". It is flimsy and does not cut evenly. The food guide "bends" too easily with the slightest amount of pressure resulting a thick to thin slice. The blade moves SLOW and it's not as sharp as they lead you to believe. Luckily, I purchased this locally and was able to return it. The saying "they just don't make things the way they used to" describes my experience perfectly. What a piece of junk.
