Wachovia bank and Wachovia mortgage are the worst ever!!! Wachovia mortgage took $1187.00 out of my Wachovia checking account that I did not authorize nor did I owe. They caused $1200.00 in fees. After 7 months I have not been able to get my fees reimbursed and they offer no explanation as to why they are denying my reimbursement. I have now taken all my money out of my checking account. In addition I applied for my payment to be changed from a bi monthly to a monthly payment. Since then I now get collection calls daily asking for a bi monthly payment. After I spend 20 mins or so asking them to read their notes they agree I do not owe the payment but state they cant remove me from their auto dialer until that department completes my paperwork. So they continue to call me daily. However no one calls me regarding the money they owe me. Wachovia you SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mr. Bob Ryan, Senior Vice President of Wachovia Bank, I enjoy banking with Wachovia but have been disappointed by a recent accumulation of spam letters. Personally, I don’t like my bank to send me mailings similar to the scams credit card and airline companies send. It makes me question the integrity of the business I am entrusting with my finances. I am referring particularly to a letter for a portable DVD player and AutoVantage. This letter uses a particular gimmick often associated with un-trustworthy magazines subscriptions and credit card offers. It’s ABSOLUTELY FREE! For only 30 days; then you are charged. What is a trust-worthy bank like Wachovia doing sending this kind of stuff? Is this truly representative of the type of services you wish to send your clients? I would like to be removed from whatever spam lists of clients you are using to perpetrate poor business habits. Second, I am very concerned with the 8 names listed at the top. Is this not a privacy concern? ... Read more

About a year ago I got into a conversation with someone who worked at Wachovia. This person told me that at the end of the day they were encouraged to process withdrawals first before deposits so that they would deliberately overdraft peoples accounts so they could charge overdraft protection fees. The person seemed very dissatisfied with their job, and I took this story with a grain of salt assuming that the person was disgruntled. I mean, there is no way that was legal, right? Skip ahead one year. I am busy doing Christmas shopping but I keep close tabs on my account. I shop at one store at 11am, electronically transfer money so I can shop a little more, make a few more small purchases and go home. I check my account at 11pm just to make sure everything worked out the way it was supposed to. Sure enough, all the withdrawals were processed first as though I went on a big shopping spree, the account was over drafted by literally $0.99 and I had a $17.00 overdraft protection fee. The m... It isn't Wachovia, it is WALK-ALL-OVER-YA (SAD EXCUSE FOR A) BANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I worked at a bank for 9 & 1/2 years so this is coming from a person who knows how a bank should operate and treat it's customers. An employee had come back to work for us but forgot to tell us he closed his bank account with 'walk-all'over-ya' bank. When his direct deposit was automatically sent to that bank, it should have kicked out into an erorr report and the bank should have returned the UNDEPOSITED funds to our company (I used to do this at the bank I worked for, I really know how this all works). When it did not get returned after a week, I contacted Wachovia and was told the manager was not in, call back the next day. When I did call back, I was told I could not get any information because it was not my account. I gave the information to the employee and asked that he go ask for the return of the money. He was told he could not get information because he no longer had an open account with 'walk-all... Read more

This is a horrible bank. I closed all but one of my accounts yesterday, and the only reason I didn't close the last one was because they wanted to charge me a $25 fee, go figure. My wife who is 7 1/2 months pregnant, and hypogloximic (however you spell it) works for the San Antonio branch. Last week they pulled her chair, and wont allow her to sit down forcing her to get a doctors note saying she needed it. When she took the note in, they still said it was an accomidation, and not medically nessisary, even though the medical note said it was. My wife could probably get in trouble for me writing this, but seeing as I'm her husband, and I'm writting this, if she gets one word said to her about it, it's just another thing for our lawyer to look at.

I have been with wachovia bank for years! I pretty much know the bank, but as of 2010 things started to change. The basic rules of the bank changed without letting the customers know of the new policies regarding check card hold and over draft fees. They changed everything up and expect us to know the new rules. We don't work for the bank, and are not informed of new policies as they change. So how the hell am i suppose to know? These policies have changed and they result in numerous overdraft fees. The reps tell me"I don't know how to manage my account". I have been following the same rules for years and had not had a problem until now! So really.. Is it me? They are changing rules to generate more overdraft charges to add to their billions that they already Jerk the customers for. I hate Wachovia, they are almost as bad as bank of America. I have a pretty lucrative business, and I will find a bank alternative.

I cannot believe this bank is still in "business" if that is what you could call it. It makes me think of how people in a corrupt, disheveled country such as Haiti have to deal with. This is exactly where this bank belongs. I've never seen any such a "system" in my life of total inaccuracy and complete dishonesty and crookedness. I read so many comments and agree with all of them as I relate to so many. I quit banking with them years ago and let the account go into dormancy of 2.00. It is the most pathetic excuse for a "bank" there ever could be. Nuff said! How such an institution can exist in the USA is beyond me, with such blatant forms of robbery and muggings of people innocently trying to do their personal banking. I know, I'm a former victim of incessantly being mugged by that bank.

Been with Wachovia for a long time, never had any of the problems others discuss in their reviews. I have noticed a serious decline in customer service quality & timeliness. This week I received a notice that they will be penalizing me $5.95 every month for using Quicken to access my accounts. Guess that fee had been waived for me up until September 2010, probably because I had multiple accounts with them. I don't like the direction they are going (DOWN), so I've established accounts elsewhere. Will not put up with Wachovia's new fees for allowing them to handle my money. Would not recommend them.

My boyfriend and I opened a joint account in January at Wachovia and it has been one headache after another. When we opened the account, they did not tell us that any money deposited in the first 30 days would be put on "hold." I deposited money and used my debit card and paid bills with the account only to overdraft it because the deposits weren't posted! We moved in April and changed the address on the Wachovia account. I called and ordered new checks. For 2 months I've sat here and wondered where they were and today I got a notice saying that they were shipped to the old address and then sent back to the check company. They still charged me for the box of checks. I called Wachovia and they passed me to the check company. Wachovia hadn't changed our address in the system and they refuse to refund me for the box of checks. Find somewhere else to bank! We will be.

This bank is terrible!! First of all I have 4 different bank accounts in different banks. I am aware that some of them have time rule meaning that anything you do after that time will be processed the next day. Wachovia's though is the earliest 2:00pm and not only that it is the only bank that takes until midnight on the day of the transaction to give you avaliability for the money you put in CASH. So if you put in cash you have to wait until the next day to be able to use it. And if you do it after 2:00pm you have to wait 2 days to access your money! If you have cash why even bother!! Second they do hold debits and put them in at screwed up times causing more than once overdrafts out of domino effects. I have payed up to 300 in fees more than once because of charges like a 2.00 dollar coffee. When I called customer service the only thing they can do is remove one fee, even though I explained it was ridiculous that I would pay $40.00 for a $2.00 coffee. That if I knew it was overdrawn... THE WORST in customer service...Do the employees of this organization realize that "WE THE PEOPLE" actually pay their salaries through our tax money since our illustrious President and Congress bailed these banks out....Think about it, people and get ANGRY!!! We, the unemployed, are fighting to find a job, fighting to keep our homes and yet, these banks and their employees are trying TO TAKE OUR HOMES, to foreclose on We the People, there is no such thing as a Loan Modification, it is just political crap our government wants us to believe can actually help us, it is called, "Blowing Smoke" to keep the people off balance. I know, I have tried and also hit a brick wall...Banks only want to help themselves, like to our tax dollars!!! No, once I am out from under Wachovia/Wells Fargo, I will NEVER do any kind of banking with them, but since my credit rating has hit the skids because of these BIG BANKS with all OUR money, I may never have money to need a bank again. I recently traveled to Africa and once I traveled home months later recieved a fraudulent charge on bank statement for over $600. I spoke with Keitric Wiley a supervisor at Wachovia and they said there was nothing they could do about it. Beware of banking with Wachovia because even after speaking with the company that made the fraudulent charge and them making a refund I have never seen any of the proceeds. As a result I would not recommend using Wachovia for any banking purposes what so ever after the customer service I have recieved. If this was a minor charge I would blow it off as a loss and a lesson learned, but for over $600. I am obviously upset.

I closed all my accounts on April 24, 2010 and today (6/5/2010) I received an overdraft notice on a withdrawl that was attempted on 6/1/2010! This bank is hurting and is using every slimey technique they can think of to cahrge their customers fees. DO NOT bank with them - try a credit union instead!

I have been with Wachovia for a long time and have had no problem with them. Their customer service is great. I wish Wells Fargo can learn a thing or two from them. It is rerally unfortunate that Wachovia was bought by Wells Fargo. Really unfortunate. I will have to switch banks once Wachovia officially becomes Wells Fargo.

I have been with Wachovia for a few years and it is the little things plus one big thing they kept screwing up that has made me decide to switch banks. The "small" things: These are just things I found to be highly irritating but not necessarily a problem. There are two branches near my house, one of them has nice people and at least act like they are trying to help BUT sometimes they are open on Saturdays and sometimes they're not. Irritating!! The other one is always open on Saturdays but the customer service is a joke and they take their precious little time doing everything. They say if you deposit your check before 2:00 pm, it will be there by the end of the day. There have been plenty of times where I deposited my check before noon and the check was not in there until three DAYS later. I would even ask the teller if it would be there by the end of the day just to make sure, they would tell me yes but it would seriously take 3-4 days before my check was in the bank. Their o... Does anyone have a contact for Wachovia/Wells Fargo that knows what they are doing and how to provide information from the right department? I am a real estate agent representating a seller and we are having a heck of a time getting a payoff/lein release and none of the 400 departments in both companies can provide either. They can tell me there is nothing due, but they cannot release anything in writing that will allow us to close the property. It is due to go to the foreclosure auction process if it doesn't close, which is not good for the bank or the seller. With a viable offer on the table, that is a rediculous result to have happen and should not be taking place. My seller is now bound by this inadequate service of no information that will result in a harder hit on their credit than should be and alot of effort that results in nothing. It is rediculous and I am going to head to the newspapers, radio stations and TV until this is straightened out or to make others aware of th... Read more

As a debt card user, I always check the available balance before I make purchases. Wachovia, while claiming that they take all of the purchases and put them into a holding account and subtract that amount immediately from the Posted Balance to show a clear and concise availible balance, are misrepresenting exactly what they do and how their services work. They do this only to make money under false pretense. You got it, I made a purchase of $34 with an available balance of $40. They charged me $175.00 in overdraft fees-a fee for each check that was in the holding account. My overdraft was only caused by the overdraft fee. My balance is -$160.00. While it would seem that I am just blowing steam because of these fees that Wachovia charges for overdrafts, I want to assure you that this is not exactly the case. Before moving to Virginia, I banked at a credit union that gave me a debt card as well. Upon purchase of anything on the debt card, the amount was approved and immediately taken o... Read more

I have been with Wachovia for almost 10 yrs now. I have my personal and business accounts with Wachovia and hence a fairly good cash flow. Wachovia has declined in its customer service and ability to address what customer needs in recent years. With Wells Fargo taking it over, Wachovia downturn has accelerated. They have adopted stupid policy shifts and claim that to be part of WF takeover. 3 weekends in a row, I have faced absolute harsh and unprofessional behaviour from their various bracnches. Today - I told the branch manager that for the 1st time in 10 yrs, I am going back to market, to shop for a new bank and will take my business away from Wachovia. I have also read comments from othe fellows about deposits not being posted on time, stupid cutoff times from bank and additional fees left/right. I have started to notice the same and its very annoying that while banks are going out of service due to unfortunate economical downturn, Wachovia instead of stepping up, is acting like a... Worst bank and worst online banking. Dont trust them. Your account balance is only accurate 3 out of 7 days. They don't update the account Friday into Saturday or Sunday into Monday so you only get accurate info Tuesday thru Thursday. Interestingly, everything posts on Tuesday morning when they hit you with tons of fees. You have no way of knowing what is in your account at all. Whats the point of online banking at all if your account balance is never accurate. And today, TUESDAY, the entire online system is down for maintenance! Who does maintenance on a TUESDAY MORNING?! This is the worst bank ever. Stay away!

I personally think this bank is horrible. I have had a bank account with them for over a year. They tend to like to wait until you dont have enough money in your bank to take anything out. The other week they took out of $105 for three over drafts twice then offered us $25 for the mistake. This is the second time this has happend and everytime we call to speak with someone about sewing them they hang up and will not give us a number to speak with someone that will handle it. THEY ARE CROOKS.

Well for one lets start off right! NEVER I repeat NEVER assume money is in your account until it is posted so! If you spend money that is not posted into your account yet then it is your fault. The problem is you wanting it right now. Regardless of what reasons I keep reading it is all the same. People spending the money befpre it is posted in their accounts. I personally do not bank with Wachovia they are terrible, and crooks. I refuse to bank with anyone who takes Government handouts. I personally recommend Credit Unions. WARNING: if you spend money before it is posted into your account with a credit union you will get over draft fees also.

They withhold account information until the end of the period and then that is when they put everything through so you end up with overdraft fees left and right. They're customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with by far, aside from when I banked with Wells Fargo and unfortunately, that is the company that bought them out. They withhold account information, and they just try to get money out of their customers. I'm personally switching to a Credit Union. I have heard nothing but good things about those.

the same issue has happened to me twice but it hurts me so much financially that I will be pulling my service first thing come Monday morning. i set up way2save, their automatic savings account, that i put $1 into every time I use my debit card. i was laid off from my job about 9 months ago and have since enrolled in school, so not only am i living paycheck to paycheck, but my reduction in pay has left me paying non-reducible bills (rent, insurance, etc.) that are well beyond my means. if i'm unable to make my bills i dip into my way2save account and transfer over some money. i've only done this twice, and wachovia has screwed me both times. i transfered my cash the day before my last bill was going to be taken out of my account, so it would have plenty of time to show up (a full business day), but the money from the transfer didn't show up until the following afternoon, two days later!! obviously i was charged overdraft fees, but the money i was transfering over was to cover all of th... Wachovia's new zero tolerance policy on NSF and overdraft fees is unacceptable. I was recently charged four (4) NSF and overdraft fees of $35 each for four (4) transactions. That's $140 in penalties! What's appalling is that each and every item was smaller than the starting balance before this sequence of "hold" and "post" began. One debit transaction (that rightly should have been denied) was on hold while the largest transaction was paid.. but also charged a penalty.. and leaving the next 3 smaller transactions, about $30 each, to all bounce separately as well, including the one debit that was on hold to cause the first bounce. I wrote and called several times and all I got was that "these charges were correct, in accordance with our policy." When corporate policy exceeds mathematical possibility, you know that maximizing bank income from NSF ad overdraft fees has become a priority more important than keeping faith in customers. I, for one, am leaving Wachovia and Wells Fargo.. forev... Read more

Wachovia is fine, I guess, as long as you consistently have hundreds or thousands of dollars of "cushion" in your checking account. If you are like me and are living paycheck to paycheck, they are a nightmare. They put my paycheck on "hold" for five full days, even though this was a payroll check that I had always deposited at the bank twice per month, in person. I was always told that it would go through on midnight that same day. Not this time. I made the mistake of going to a different branch to make my deposit. Bad idea. The powers that be in that branch apparently decided that my funds needed to be held until the 14th of October. When I complained to customer service by phone, I was told that there was nothing they could do. When I emailed them, I was told that the funds would be helpd until the 15th of October, one day more than they told me at the branch and on the phone! I think it's outrageous for a bank to hold a payroll check for two full business days beyond the M... Read more

I've been banking with Wachovia for about 6 years. I have three accounts. One for bill paying, one savings and another I used for spending to help budget myself. The system I had was working great! I've been hit with the hold and over draft thing before and wised up and started keeping tabs myself at home as well as comparing online so this would not happen again. Last Sunday (9/20) I went out to eat. Had a great meal at Mac's! The bill came to $34 and I left an $8 tip, bringing the total to $42. Monday (9/21) I stayed home since it was Monday Night Football, so my card did not get used. Tuesday (9/22) rolls around and I go to work. I look forward to Tuesdays because my friends and I meet up after work for $1 pizza slices and $1 beers at a local joint. We take turns paying since the bill in never too pricey. As I'm leaving my desk I go online to check my account. I notice that all my charges from the weekend had been processed Monday (9/21) morning. $42 being the first... Read more

WORST BANK EVER!!!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT BANK WITH THEM. I have had SO MANY problems with them and ridiculous overdraft fees... Even if I deposit before I use a debit, they still rearrange everything to cause any overdraft fees they can. I had to call the bank over and over to get overdraft fees taken off, and even that took months. Once, my check card number got stolen over the internet, and the thief used my number to make unauthorized purchases. The entire thing took 3 months to sort out!!! They had to send me some letter which I had to fill out and all this other crap I had to go through and it took nearly 3 months for them to credit me my money back. (They credited it back to me and took the money BACK several times not to my knowlegde, causing MORE overdraft fees) This time, I went to a drive-thru and gave them $100 in cash and my driver's license and told them to deposit the money into my joined free checking account. Wachovia bank is the WORST bank ever! I just opend my account 4 months ago.. Ive had so many problems with them in just this short amount of time. My first problem was with getting my check card. It took 4 weeks to get it. Everytime I would call to ask about it I was put on hold for 10 to 20 mins each time then they would give me shit about not keeping enough money in it. So I said WTF I cant keep enough money in because I have to keep withdrawing it out so I can pay my bills.. Other problems have been with them charging me overdraft fees for thier misstakes. Every week theres something new with this bank. When I call to talk with someone about it they make me feel stupid and say things like you know you have to keep a record of the money you spend.. Yes you dumb bitch i know that Im not stupid.. I do keep a record of it.. You all keep charging me for using my own money and say I dont have enough in it! Here is how my whole situation started. My boyfriend unknowingly got caught in an online scam. He tried to buy software for "google" advertising or something. Anyway, it was supposed to cost $1.95. On 7/9/09 I noticed a charge from google for $79.90. I immediately called Wachovia to put a stop on that payment because I had not authorized it. The operator gave me a provisional credit for the $79.90 pending investigation and cancelled that debit card number. They said they would send me a letter to update me and told me to try reaching the merchant to try getting a refund. I called the merchant where a recording tells you to hold on. After holding for about half an hour I hung up. I tried again several times with the same result. Fast forward to September 12(Saturday). I saw a transaction on my debit account that I did not recognize or authorize, and I asked their customer service about it. Then, I asked them to send me a new debit credit card with a new account number. I am yet to receive it. I closed my account with them immediately--debit account and savings account. I have been a customer of Wachovia for about three years now, and never had too many problems, or so I thought till I started writing them down. I picked out a box that cost 48 dollars. I opened the account with 450 dollars, I then wrote a check for my car payment of 275, so now I have 175 left. We have gotten several overdraft fees. Apparently when you use your debit card they take the money out of your account but don't pay the store you spent the money at right away and if you happen to go over even just one cent you get charged and overdraft fee. They don't just give you and overdraft fee for going over one time they give you and overdraft fee for charges that they have already taken money out of your account. The whole thing is very confusing but long story short I got 5 overdraft fees at 35.00 a piece for one charge because at the time Wachovia paid my charges ( for which there was enough money in my account and was taken out by the bank to cover the charges) my account went into the negative. Also, I filled out a "stop payment" request on a electronic payment two days before the payment was to come out, Wachovia charged me 30.00 to stop it, the payment went through but I was basically told "too bad" the disclaimer at the bottom says you have to request it 3 DAYS befor... This bank is calling my house from 7am to 9pm daily anywhere from 2-6 times a day. Sometimes they even call within a minute of hanging up. I have told them about 100 times now that the person they are looking for is not associated with this number and to remove it from the list. They rudely reply "there is no list" I have been called "thief" "liar" and "crazy" and been told if it is true then to change my phone number. I have sent a letter and a email threatening legal action if it does not stop yet the phone keeps ringing. The calls start less then an hour after my husband who works nights goes to sleep and the stress is really getting to him.

This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I've had an account for over four years and for some reason over the past year, thanks to some very creative banking, I've been getting overdraft fees left and right. Apparently when you use your debit card they take the money out of your account but don't pay the store you spent the money at right away and if u happen to go over even just one cent you get charged and overdraft fee. They don't just give you and overdraft fee for going over one time they give you and overdraft fee for charges that they have already taken money out of your account. The whole thing is very confusing but long story short I got FIVE overdraft fees for one charge because at the time Wachovia paid my charges ( for which there was enough money in my account and was taken out by the bank to cover the charges) my account was negative .70. Considering that I was a customer for over four years I went into my branch to speak with someone hoping to get at least one ... Read more

The WORST bank I have ever dealt with, EVER!!!!!!!! They tell you you have a free of charge account, and then is not true!! I opened this account in 2005 and just used it to receive pay from work, never had an overdrawft, never used it for anything else, I had my own good Credit Union account, but that one was not in SC, where I was working. Then, I moved out of state time after, never used again that account, wanted to closed it, but a customer service agent told me to hang on in there, the account was free of charge and whille I have even $0 in balance, that won't be a problem, just in case I would need it for the future. So bad I took that so bad advice, I could tell now is just to ripp off people. They started, this year, to charge me for service, WITHOUT any notice before. And without having any negative for years, having a few cents, they charge just $5.00 without telling you anything until 2 statements after!!! so, u can have an overdrawft EASILY!!!, and then they charge you ... I am a college student who recently moved to the town where I was set to be living. Long story short, I needed a tow truck and after going to the ATM to get some money for the tow man my transaction was declined because I would have overdrafted $10. I have had my account for 5 years and have never overdrafted at all. But that ruined it for me when I later called customer service and explained to them my situation and they hung up on me. End of story, I'm closing my account now and switching banks.

Dear Wacohovia: I (Matthew H. Wetsel) was making use of an ATM machine (#8652) at the Wachovia in Clemson, SC (955 Tiger Blvd.)on 04/07/09 at 4:21 pm. The ATM did not dispense the $200.00 that I had requested. I tried to obtain assistance from the employees inside the bank. The staff stated they could do nothing. I am very unhappy with everyone involved. I constantly hear they cannot help. I have been waiting three days to hear from Wachovia to return my calls and help. Since I do not have the ATM account with Wachovia, I am told nothing can be done. The ATM made a withdrawal on my account and add insult charged me a service charge for no service rendered. I am very displeased with the way I have been treated. Upset, Matthew H. Wetsel

I only opened my account because I had just moved to Jacksonville NC and needed a account to pay for bills. I haven't used the account since Jan 09, when I used my card to pay for something I really don't remember what but anyway I overdrew my account by $2.16 however I had $6.00 in my savings. I was told when I signed up if I overdrew my checking, and had enough in my savings it would just be automatically transferred over. What they DIDN'T tell me is they would charge me $10 to do so. So now I have to pay them $35 freakin bucks just because I overdrew my account 2 buck.. RIDICULOUS. They could have at least let me know I overdrew my account!! Or say that there wasn't enough in my Savings to cover the overdraft protection fee.. I would have GLADLY gave them their two friken dollars. There customer service just said oh well there is nothing I can do. I have never in my life heard of a overdraft protection FEE, usually its there so you don't have to pay unnecessary money right? and $35 ... Read more

DIRTY BANK; TO THE CORE I have decided that the only thing worse than a bank these days, is a bank entity whose days are numbered such as Wachovia (it has been bought by Wells Fargo) but the name has not yet changed. I have been a customer of World Savings which is now Wachovia for years and had numerous accounts and a mortgage with them. Never, has anyone said anything about a hold on deposits. I recently deposited a large cashier's check from a major bank, literally one block away from the Wachovia branch. It was my assumption that a cashier's check is treated like cash. I put the money in the account so I could be the responsible person and pay my bills on time. Long story short, I was charged $200.00 in overdraft fees for using the account since the check was on hold, even though the money was there! Nobody, but nobody told me there would be a hold on the check. I told the management that I would have never deposited that large check had I known because I had to use the money i... Read more
