I once wanted to find the people who invent these kind of annoyances and castrate them, but then I realized that they most likely will never get laid. Ironically, I had a virus that posed as anti-virus software on 2 occasions. It locked me out of internet completely and essentially held my computer hostage until I hit system restore. Viruses are a real pain in the ass and the people who invent them should be locked away.

If I had the cash of Norton or McCaffee, I wouldn't develop antivirus software, I'd buy plane tickets and power tools. Every hacker my firm identified would have his genitals maimed on my website and the donations would just pour in. I could care less about human life in other areas of the world, but if you make me waste an hour putting all my crap back together, I want blood.

CRUEL! People who knowingly create and spread these vicious plagues have cold black hearts and should face serious criminal charges for the damage they inflict. (Have you ever considered that the makers of all these Anti-whatever products benefit financially - have you ever wondered if they are responsible for the viruses?) Spend your time and hard earned money to install the latest and greatest Antivirus software. Keep it updated at all times. Install and configure a top of the line Firewall. Install AntiMalware and Antispyware...... keep everything current and running at all times. BEWARE of fraudulent software that pretends to be one of the above "Anti-wonderful's" but is actually a wolf in sheep's clothing. Install a spam blocker and above all NEVER EVER click on anything you are not 100% sure of! Now that you have done all this.....and the day is done...... it's probably time to shut off your computer and go to bed. [Never-ever click on anything you are not positive is... Read more

I wish these things were never invented. They always bring down my computer no matter what I do.

People that create and spread these things should be sent away to bust rocks or pick up trash along the highways.

the people that create these should be ashamed of themselves.if i ever meet somebody that had created a virus i would punch them in the nose for all the headaches they have caused.

As I have said previously, anyone found trying to introduce viruses and/or spyware into the INTERNET needs to go to prison -- and not some Martha Stewart prison; but a bad-ass prison where a skinny little geek would be spending half his time on his knees with the Aryan gangs and the other half of his time on his knees with the Black Muslim gangs. That being said, it always seems like the same old dolts always seem to repeatedly and stupidly open .exe and .vbs and get infected over and over again. Use a little judgement and viruses should never be an issue.

Annoying if you're lucky. At worse, they could destroy your computer. As long as you could your anti virus software up to date, you shouldn't have too much to worry about.

Nasty little cretins. If they get into your pc they can cause a whole bunch of grief. Good Anti Virus and Firewalls can help to diminish these pesky little blighters.

The deadliest ones are the ones that destroy computer, infect software, and can not isolated, quarentined, or deleted.

With virus protection software and web based email available, viruses and worms have not been much a problem for me; however, the cost and expense associated with these threats must be enormous. It is not just the costs of fixing any damage, but also lost productivity from having to scan attachments, etc. Moreover, what would one have purchased with the money spent on protection software? These are additional opportunity costs. Viruses, worms and spam have to be the biggest time wasters and costliest aspects of the Internet.

Why is it that some dirtbags get off on corrupting people's computers who they don't even know? I'd like to get 5 minutes in a room with one of these computer geeks. On a different note I do have a conspiracy theory about viruses. I think that some viruses are created and spread by the anti-virus companies to generate business. About 2 years ago I opened an attachment from an unknown user and got a virus (I know, it was a stupid thing to do). Anyway I emailed this jerk and said Dude what the F* you gave me a computer virus! He actually replied to my email and said Go to Norton.com and download the new Norton antivirus software. So I went to Norton's site and sure enough, I saw a caption that said Download this software for only $9.95 to rid your computer of the new Junebug* (I forget the name) virus. I really think I'd been had by Norton from the get-go and I wish they'd be investigated.

Having just dealt with this for what seems the hundredth time, these are way past annoying. On my less tolerant days, I advocate public horsewhipping for the folks who design them.

Annoying, but somewhat easy to avoid. Just keep an updated virus protector and don't d'load unknowned files from strangers.

Can be very upsetting. We had a weird thing happen to our computer a week ago. the interet got this message something like a mistake happened and was closing down for no reason we could see. We could not get what we had back and had to go with Netscape. Still do not why this happened we were not doing anything wrong and wonder if we got some kind of virus or worm.very inconvenient what we had to go through.

Well, a virus just wiped out my hard drive and destroyed my operating system (windows 98), so I'd have to say I'm pretty annoyed. You go through the whole cycle when something like this happens... disbelief, dread, anger, frustration, resignation. Usually you don't just lose the data... you lose hours and hours trying to save something that is usually unsavable (unless you want to go to one of those hard drive doctors and drop more than the price of the computer to get your docs back). Not sure what the creators of these things get out of them... but given how many people seem to suck, it doesn't surprise me that there are those that would get enjoyment out of destroying things.

I really do not get people who sit around and dream up this crap all the time. They must be the most needy jerks in the entire world and are so imagination challenged they can't think of another way to get attention. If only they would use their abilities for good instead of stupidity. I actually find it hard to believe there are so many of them too. Kind of makes you wonder if some of the viruses and worms don't originate with the people who make big money getting rid of them. Ooops, my natural cynicism is showing again!

Apparently, there were 4 new major worms circulating the internet this week. One managed to shut down the company I work for for half a day (it may sound fun, but no, it's not), another infected the computers at my husband's work. Sure, everything was up and running a day later, but it's really annoying.
