holy crap everything involving this guy sucks. 5 stars

Not overrated- he simply sucks. . .close your eyes and imagine him reciting a monolouge from "MacBeth". . .to quote Kurtz- "The horror. . .the horror. . ."

This is one of those lists that can only lead to frustration. The point of the list as I see it is not to rate these people as either good or bad. The point is to rate whether or not they are being given too much credit (i.e. are overrated) for their work. Vin Diesel may only be fair to midling as an actor... but since he isn't considered all that good then he can't be "over" rated.

He is a great self promoter and makes all the talk shows. That must be why he gets roles. It surely isn't for talent!

Vin never quite impressed me, and he did not quite capture my heart like he did for so many other girls/women. Not to say that he is not good at what he does, he could be the best actor on earth but I have never really paid much attention to him and I'm not the first in line to see his latest movie. But he has established himself in the Hollywood scene and I am sure he will always be in demand for the more, masculine, roles.

I do think this guy is overrated. He is a life-sized action figure, but he's an action figure I wouldn't have minded playing with. (Before I was married.)

Is Vin Deisel well regarded as an actor? I always thought people just considered him the be a posable action figure. Kind of like a Bruce Willis-Lite.

He is a good actor.

He can't act, but he doesn't bother me. Probably a nice guy and all that. Most unintentionally hilarious, cheesy, pseudo- profound moment ever: I didn't see this film, but I saw the preview for it while seing another film. He made some dumb sci-fi epic where aliens attack Earth tring to force people into their religion. Diesel utters this memorably trite phrase, the type of saying that 14 year olds, squares,shallow thinkers, and sci- fi dorks find to be incredibly deep: " TO KILL THE MONSTER, YOU MUST BECOME THE MONSTER!"

Beefcake, thats all this guy is, eye candy beefcake. When all that muscle turns to fat he can maybe run for president, as the IQ to qualify really doesn't have to be that high.

Not sure that Diesel makes claims to an elevated status as an actor. However, he and 'The Rock' make entertaining and unpretentious pics and, onscreen, both enjoy a decent degree of audience acceptance.

Somebody that exploded onto the scene and hasn't done jack since. He's already scrapping the bottom of the barrel doing a kiddy comedy that makes fun of his action star status. I never knew what people saw in him to begin with.

Vin Deisel is smoking hot and not to mention he is a pretty good actor!!! Vin is very nice on the eyes!!!

Overrated? Like Seagal, he's an action character, but Hollywood has floated out a vehicle with him in it that will show he has no range as an actor. He's a shooting star that is hot for now. He will flame out quickly.

I thought XXX was OK when I saw it in the theater, but when I saw it again later, I realized it was just a string of explosions, clichés, and bad acting.

He is the only actor that legitimizes bootlegging. When you can catch a guy acting he isn't acting he is rehearsing. He peaked with the Iron Giant. You people need a no star rating.

I think Diesel has fallen into the trap of being typecasted. He has played the musclebound action hero so many times and quite profitably that studios probably only see that when they look at him. As most people do. I'm not so convinced that his acting is terrible though. Maybe given quality material and new roles, he could become more than the next Arnold.

He acts in movies with a lot of car chases, but his acting is about as bad as a Chevette Diesel (remember those?).

On a shallow note, this man is FINE, but to be serious he is very limited in his acting. I enjoyed The Fast and the Furious for what it was, not a great movie, but an entertaining one. When he tries to more serious acting he falls flat because he doesn't have enough range.

Ugly.

I took XXX for what it was and I enjoyed it. Many people did not. Still, if Deisel is going to be marketed as the next big musclebound lug action hero, count me out. He's average compared to the classic musclebound action heroes like Arnold, Sly, or Lundgren. The Rock is a better actor than Deisel.
