There's a great atmosphere in this gym and they really know what they're doing. I worked out there for 3 months and felt an incredible difference in how strong I was. The philosophy at vert is a little different than at other gyms, but it works. Don't expect it to be easy though, they work you hard, but if your an athlete looking for an edge or just want to get in shape this is the place to do it. They are really flexible too so if your schedule is always changing they do a great job accommodating their clien ts.

When 'Gym Shopping', the standard question at hand is, "Does this gym have what I need to further my level of fitness?" That is, until you step foot into VERT FITNESS, and immediately the person asking all the questions becomes the one in need of an answer; the question being: Do I have what it takes to work out at this gym!? A boutique facility that prides itself on customer relation before anything else, and thats saying a lot when one considers its state of the art equipment. Under the management of fitness guru, Kelly Stemp, VERT FITNESS - SANTA MONICA, employs a group of highly trained, intelligible staff that strive to fulfill the companies motto in pushing the client to reach - 'Higher, Faster, Stronger!'

I had not worked out in over a year and needed someone to kick my butt into shape. I started going to VERT (2 times a week) and lost 20 pounds in 4.5 months. The trainers are all super nice and you will not find a better workout anywhere.

I joined VERT after ten years of 60-hour work weeks and hedonistic business dinners had left me in such sorry shape I was practically seeing stars whenever I had to walk up three flights of stairs. The trainers tailored one-hour sessions for my weak fitness level that challenged me without making me feel like I was in a military boot camp. They always took time to show me my progress (easily tracked by the computerized workout stations) and continually updated my exercises to reflect my improving fitness level. I was amazed at how quickly my body responded. Within a month, my endurance improved and I was getting leaner. I've been a member ever since. That was almost four years ago and VERT is now a great part of my life.

Pros: personal attention, friendly and knowldgable staff and trainers, work with a trainer at every session for a great value (by sharing each training session with up to 3 other clients), challenging workouts, gym for all body types and ages, state of the art equipment expertly mixed with back-to-basics exercises. Con: no showers. Extras: online nutrition program, on-site physical therapy.

I've been going to Vert for nearly 8 years. I get an excellent, high-intensity full-body workout that's always challenging. The Vert system -- a series of push/pull exercises that are computer controlled -- is efficient, and can put you through different paces whether it's straight resistance or speed training or time sets. I've worked out alongside pro athletes who scoff at the machines; 10 minutes into their workout, they're in the corner gasping for breath. As well, I've worked out beside 16 year old soccer players training for their high school team, and beside 75 year old men who work out for muscle tone and flexibility. So the place caters to a range of athletes. The club is small and never crowded. Unlike the big corporate gyms, this is a place where the staff knows you. Vert personnel are concerned with member welfare, and with each member reaching their potential whether they're training for a competitive sport or just life. The place is a little out of the way because it'... Read more

here's why i have been a dedicated member of this gym for the last 7 or 8 years.... 1. they're serious about getting you in shape. it's not a meat market. i am never distracted by having to look good, or worry about meeting some girl. when i am there i am usually alone with a trainer or maybe among 3 or 4 other people working out with a trainer. 2. you have a trainer every time you show up for a workout. you have a scheduled time. if it were left up to me, i'd never keep it up. they discipline you. they custom design your workout to suit your needs and abilities, and they push you more and more each time you show up. 3. impressive results. i can see the difference when i go regularly. if i skip a few days, i can also see the slippage. it's extremely effective training. their technique is unique and powerful. overall, i really like the staff. while they're serious about their jobs, they also know you have a life outside of VERT. plus, they have a sense of humor.

A doctor recommended that I go to VERT for physical therapy, which was great, and when I was finished I moved over to their workout program. I've been working out at VERT for 2 1/2 years and it's been the best thing for my health. Before VERT I had belonged to 2 different gyms and hardly ever used my memberships. With VERT, I've been disciplined about working out because I have a standing appointment with my trainer. It's less expensive than having a personal trainer, but I still feel like I get enough attention because each trainer has a maximum of 4 people at a time. I feel like I've had a great workout at the end of each session and it only takes one hour.

I was originally intimitated at the thought of private training and a small gym, but after going to VERT I don't think I will ever go back to a big gym. The trainers are great (very friendly and not at all intimidating) and they really get to know you so your workouts are personalized and effective. The gym is clean with a good mix of computerized equipment, free weights, and regular equipment. I have tried other gyms (Spectrum, Bally's, LA Fitness) and never stuck with them; but with VERT I have a regular schedule with my trainer, workout with the same people and we support each other so I am motivated to go.

At Vert you WORK OUT! Friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating staff. Their concept of "no more than 4" clients per trainer makes it so much more affordable, yet you still get a custom program.

I've trained at VERT for a little over a year now, and love it! I've tried yoga, Pilates, spin... just about everything! This is by far the best workout I've ever had. I was nervous starting out because I thought this place was for just athletes, but it really isn't, there are ALL different types of people training there. The people are nice, the trainers are great, and the equipment kicks your butt! It's definitely worth trying!

I have found that VERT is the most unique and beneficial way of training. Unlike any other gym or health club that I been to, VERT offers circuit training that is tailored to fit my needs. The VERT equipment along with the very knowledgable personal trainers are designed to give optimal results! I have found that since I started traning at VERT 3 months ago, I have seen a transforamtion in my body and I have VERT to thank for it! Another reason that I love training at VERT is the friendly environment and welcoming staff. You should definatley give it a try!
