There are mediocre formulaic hacks, and then there is V.C. Andrews, who could write a thesis on being one.

V.C. Andrews is really an amazing author. I have loved every book of hers that I have read. She does use incest a lot.. and also I have found that miscarriages occur often. But I still love them all! I have read almost every book of hers. I recommend them to pretty much anyone.

This was a good book by V.C. Andrews and it's the first part of one of the better series by V.C. Andrews.  Flowers in the Attic is about the Dollanganger children and it's pretty much about them being locked away in an attic for a few years.  It follows what happens to them over the years.  There is a sad ending to this book and like most of the V.C. Andrews books this book contains incest as well.  These books are such a guilty pleasure to read.

I have every book...that has VC Andrews on it...in my opinion she was one of the greatest authors of our time...each book made you want the next..& make sure you don't miss one. How ever I must admit....Since her death..the books don't have quite the flare..they had. Still I buy each one. People ask why she wrote about this & that in every book...maybe her past had something to do with it..or maybe the subject facinated her, inspired her writting. DerRee Davis

whenn i first read flowers in the attic i was totally impressed.what amazed me was the wonderful abilkity of v.c.andrews to make something as disgusting as incest seem like the most natural thing in the world . after flowers in the attic that immediattely became in absolute my favorite book iread several novels of v.c.andrews.it surprosed me that all of her books more or less talked about incest.i think that the author must have been obsesed by this and thats the reason she talks about it in most of her books .my opinon is that shemight have experienced some kind of sexual abuse when she was younger and that explains a lot of things ...but this is only my opinion .another thing that icant understand is why v.c.andrews is put in the horrorr section while her books have nothing to do with horrorr

OK, I definitely liked the original VC Andrews better. This new person is deffinitely acting as an imposter.... I mean, the newer books just don't have the flair they once did, and to tell you the truth, it's a turnoff.... I still read them all the time and my parents tell me I'm crazy for liking those books so much, but hey, I have to keep my mind busy somehow. In my opinion, the Casteel Series was the best, I know so many other people like the Flowers in the Attic series but, the Casteels are the best.

I really don't know why VC Andrews is in the HORROR section on this site, because her books are anything but that. And even then I am talking about her ORIGINAL work, not the ghostwriter garbage out there. I think it is just ridiculous how they use her name to write trashy novels to this day. The only good books by VC Andrews were the ones that she actually wrote. They are masterpieces, and great works of literature. As for the rest, pure garbage.

When she was alive, I loved her books. Whoever is writing them now is not that hot. First, they shouldn't use her name on the cover. And why did every story have incest? That I couldn't understand.

I used to read her books a lot years ago. i really prefer the the ones that were really written by her. Her child in peril books did have a way of drawing me in to see what happened to these kids. Yet I always felt weird reading them too since they deal with subjects that make me feel uncomfortable. her writing is different for sure. i even liked the Flowers in the attic series. I do feel uneasy about some of the subjects she wrote about though. Anyone who has read any of her books know what I am talking about.

V.C. Andrews work was absolutely brilliant. I cried for the Dresden dolls and grew to love and hate them. I buy the books from the ghostwriter simply because its a habit, and I admit that some plot lines are getting sickening (incest, name swaps) but there is some new depth to new series (some heroines are 3 dimensional now) and I would recommend her(ghostwriter books now) because they are actually good.

I love all of the books VC Andrews has written, but not those of her ghost writers. I am in the middle of a novel and have the outlines of others that are far closer to her works then any of the garbage that has passed as hers since her death. I am even contemplating sending my first finished novel to her office to prove the point. I know, I'm dreaming, but does anyone have an idea as to where to start? If nothing else, when it's out in my own name, the point will still be made.

I've read so many books it is hard to keep the number straight, but V.C Andrews is the only author that could keep my attention long enough, for me to read every single book that she ever wrote. I have an entire bookcase filled with her work, from "Flowers in the Attic" to the current, "De Beers" series. She will be my favorite author until the day that I die!

The people who think this author is wierd and cant write.....u got it all backwards. V.C. wrote books for the mature reader, if u can't handle it stop complaining. She has an imagination like no other. Who could think of a story plot like in flowers in the attic? Not many people.....just read her books.

V.C. Andrews is the #1 author of all time.V.C. Andrews is the only author I look forward to reading because her stories capture my heart in a way i can't even begin to explain. It is a shame that God took such a women away from us! I wish that I could have met her before her death but it is a curse that our age difference prevented me from meeting the most talented author of all time. I have collect 30 of her books and always look forward to the release of a new one. I think her ghostwriter doesn't have the talent she had and no one does or can. I am not saying that he isn't trying I am simply saying no author compares to her talent! Sure her ghostwriter bases his stories on the ones she use to tell but her doesn't have her heart, mind, or talent. He simply follows the given plot and not the words. Now Andrews always had the right words and that takes talent. I have to admit many of her books leave me in tears because I can simply relate to the characters and that is what writing is al... V.C Andrews Is something that I grew up with through out my years in an all girl catholic school. As you can imagine the taboo that her books would carry with her. Forever she will be at the top of my list along with Shakespeare. Not the writers that carried on in her name though, have they actually read her originals more than once?

When I was 9 (I am now 16), while sorting through my deceased fathers posessions, I came upon an old box filled with yellowed paperback books. The titles intrigued me and I longed to suprise my mother by reading my first chapter book without instruction to do so. I took out the first book titled "Flowers In The Attic" and began reading. From that moment on, I have cherished all novels by V.C. Andrews. I've read all of her novels at least three times. I believe her characters have helped to make me the person I am today. I grew up with Catherine and Heaven as idols. It's made me into a strong, confident person who can say no to all the bad things people try to force me to do. I'm happy with the way I am. I think her characters should be role models for all the young people out there. If you think about it, incest would be a very real thing to the characters she has created if there really were people in the same situations as they were. Incest incessantly insisted or not her work is won... Read more

The only books I dont care for are the Mini-Series. Ohter then those I have been reading these books since I was in the 7th grade. I still check the book shelves everytime i pass them! I hope to have them all in hard back one day! Although I can agree that the ghostwriters arent the same, it would be a sad day when they were there anymore when i went down to the book store!

The only thing that qualifies as "horror" with this writer was her incessant insistence on including incest in so much of her work. It is pretty amazing how she managed to resurrect herself in order to continue writing this tripe though. No thank you - please pass the Stephen King.

I have almost every single one of Virginia's books, from old to new. It's just a little upsetting, though, that the new ones aren't really hers. The writer that they have ghostwriting for her doesn't seem to develop the characters enough, so I don't care enough about them by the end of the book. The older stories are better, such as the Landry series, the Casteel series, and the Dollanganger series. "My Sweet Audrina" is one of the best books I've ever read. I definitely recommend her books, but the older ones are sooooo much better!

Sadly most people don't know that V.C. Andrews passed away some time ago and her estate continues to publish novels ghostwritten by other authors. I find this distasteful, and disrespectful of the work V.C. Andrews actually did. Flowers in the Attic was a great read when I was a teenager, but I can only give one star for the countless rip-offs that have followed.

Virginia Andrews is my favourite author and I have 20 of her books. I find it hard to put a book down once I start reading as I become so engrossed in the story and feel for the main character and long to find out what happens in the end. Excellant reading.

OK,i am 15 years old, i dont know anything about v.c andrews. out of all the books i read, FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC was my all time favorite. i saw the movie and it was so good, i had to buy the book. It was so much more detailed then the movie and way longer.I couldnt put the book down once i got started. It kind of felt like i was trying to survive in the attic with the kids.I never thought i would cry in a book. If someone can write such a wonderful book like that then they must be a great writer and thats y i give v.c andrews a 5!

Virginia Andrews is my favourite author, but I feel that - since her death - the author writing under her name has used NONE of his or her ideas. I mean, how in how many Virginia Andrews book have you read about someone being described as a diamond on black velvet? Reading Virginia Andrews books can become a bind when you've read so many EXACTLY the same - I'm just glad that the Flowers In The Attic series were the first I read.

I think V.C. Andrews is a wonderful person. I think her work shows how determined she was. In the book "Flowers in the Attic" she makes you want to become those children and escape. Although lately her work seems to just keep repeating itself. I think that makes her not as great. I wish it would return to the Dollanger Series. # 1 FAN Leigh Howerton
