USA Today is good for sports, and if you are in a sports fantasy league, it is almost mandatory. Other than that, reading the headlines gets you the substance of the story. The green section is sometimes worth reading.

It's the ultimate generic newspaper. More like TV news in print. That being said, there is much raw data available and when traveling, it is a familiar source for simple news.

USA Today should be lauded for the efficiency with which it covers the USA. There are always a few informative articles, and good general coverage. It needs some comics though.

Probably has the best national sports coverage of any of the major national papers, but on the other hand its news coverage is the equvilent of 10 second sound bites.

USA Today has the best overall coverage of events affecting our nation. I love the sports page, they cover everything!

If it were our only source of printed news, and the NY Times, Washington Post, etc. didn't exist, I'd give it 1 star. But they do exist, and so USA Today fills a nice little niche as a paper that's ideal for when you want to scan a bunch of stuff and get a quick overview rather than focus on one article.

Gives you the depth and quality of magazine articles for only 75 cents ( or free if you snag one from the hotel lobby when no one is looking) :-)

Trashy, worthless fishwrap that is all style and no substance. Way too much fluff "news" and no intelligent analysis to be found.

It boggles me as to why USA Today is rated so low on this list. I have been traveling all summer, and USA Today has been my number one news source. Most of the stories are short and to the point, and there's always a special feature in each edition. The USA Today sports section is second to none. I cannot, however, give USA Today 5 stars because it is not printed on weekends. USA Today is the nation's number one newspaper, selling nearly 40% more newspapers nationwide than the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal. It certainly has improved over the years, and readers are finally beginning to realize that USA Today is indeed a good source for simplified, BASIC news.

This newspaper epitomizes what can occur when one sells out to the highest bidder.

The "journalists" commonly tie-in mentions of new movies, television programs, or consumer products into their articles. Federal government policies are rarely questioned.

Jingoism is the word of the day at USA Today headquarters. Save your quarters and buy a real paper. Not commercial tripe like this.

It seems kind of like the buffet of all newspapers--you get a little bit of everything, though nothing really stands out about it. Kind of a synopsis of all the news. I don't know about your state, but it seems that they pick the most obscure news clip for my state where they list news clips from all 50 states.

It gives you the best coverage of national and international news. I also love the sports section, especially at NCAA basketball tournament time and college football.

Who are these people giving this trash 4 and 5 stars? Poorly written and edited. . .the 'pretty colors' are meant to entertain and attract the masses. No serious intellect or journalist takes this paper seriously. . .it is basically written at a 4th to 6th grade reading level.

Decent sports section, but the rest of this McPaper is definitely targeted at the bottom of the food chain.

It suits its purpose. It gives news that is most relevant to the whole country, and its layout is easy to follow. It doesnt go into great detail on many things, but if you want all of that then you can simply buy the WashingtonPost or NY Times. Its good if all you want is a quick idea of whats going on around the world.

As a journalist myself, I can only give this newspaper a not-so-good rating. Why? The publishers give this rag quality over quantity, their news lack depth and they don't cover the pros and cons of each news feature. I admire their sports section because their layouts are easy to read. It's a good traveling newspaper (i.e. taking it with you on a plane), but you're not getting the full skinny of all the current world events. The paper has too many ads, too.

USA Today and The New York Times are the best newspapers out there today. They cover so much. The New York Times covers everything thats happening in New York, and USA Times covers the rest. It has a really good arts and entertainment section, even though it doesn't have the movie clock in it. That would be cool.

USA Today's coverage of National and World coverage is second to none. All of the editors work hard to make USA Today the best paper in the nation. All of the sections of the paper are fantastically done and well made. Whenever I go to a place that has this paper, I buy it immediately.

For general, up-to-date entertainment news across the board, nothing compares to "USA Today." It provides good coverage of all areas, including music, movies, television, books, and games. Plus, the information is provided daily during the week. I especially appreciate the current concert tour updates, the book reviews, and the in-depth articles about musicians and bands. While I'm sure people who need more substantial coverage turn to specialized publications, "USA Today" is great for the person who wants to have a quick overview of what's happening in the field of entertainment.

It's an ok paper if you don't want to think too much about things. Yes, it's gotten better, but it's still the McNews.

When USA Today first came out, it was a pretty big joke. However, now I find it to be informative, and I appreciate the simple format. I receive all the BASIC information on what is going on in the world.

I'm not giving USA Today a "5" for journalistic excellence - although I do think the articles have improved quite a bit over the past few years. I'm giving USA Today a "5" because it does an excellent job of covering the major aspects of popular culture, because the Sports section is solid, and because it consistently delivers the basic information I'm looking for in the morning. Regardless of which city I happen to be in, I know what I'm going to get when I pick up a USA Today. Using the standard fast food analogy, USA Today is the McDonald's of newspapers.

Sure, people joke about the graphs and bubble gum for the masses presentation. Yet, this paper is perfect for travelers and for those not living in their hometowns. The sports section is required reading for all who work in the sports industry. All I ask is that they please get rid of Larry King.

A fun, mass-media publication which has the best Sports Page in the business. I like it's easy to read format, including how they summarize articles on the front page, as opposed to beginning them. I also like the little Statistical blurbs which US Today seems to air all the time.
