Sun May 31 2009Urban Dog is filled with Stupid heads. If you talk to someone in front they are a stupid head. all the people working there are stupid heads. they should change their name to stupid head.

Sun May 24 2009As a new puppy owner, I felt very nervous about leaving my toy Maltese here for the first time BUT these fears were quickly dispelled by the super caring staff, their professionalism, and the way that the facilities were introduced to BOTH of us (important no?). My calls to Urban Dog to check up on her were always welcomed making me feel like I was calling a personal babysitter! I LOVE this place and even like the interview process as it demonstrates their level of responsibility and awareness of different dog personalities. (PS: I'm confused by the bad reviews here - did their dog not get in?)

Sun Apr 19 2009I have brought my dog (Bridget) here for almost 4 years and have never witnessed anything like what some of these posters have described. They are probably from some disgruntled former employee who was fired. If you look carefully, you'll notice lots of similarity in the writing style of the postings. Kim (owner) is a true pro and Jan (manager) is an experienced trainer. I trust these people with Bridget and have been doing so 3 days per week and on some holidays. My dog is my best friend and I would not give my business to a place if they were not kind, caring and professional. Take it from a REAL customer - Urban Dog is a very good doggy day care.

Thu Apr 16 2009I just took my dog to get evaluated at Urban Dog. But the place seemed very cold and uncomfortable. The staff was a little frightening as well. It's not that they were rude, but rather uncaring. There is no outside area, and the inside looks boring and I don't think my dog would be comfortable. There is also a urine smell upon entering. I asked to take a look around, but was denied. That made me uncomfortable, why can't I see where my dog is going to be kept??? Well, we will keep on looking for a decent doggy daycare.

Thu Apr 16 2009My dog loves play care as much as I do, because I can be at work not worrying about him and knowing that somebody is taken care of him. But lets admit it's an expensive thing to do, and I expect nothing but the best, I admit I am a doggy daycare snob. I think my dog would be more comfortable being at home than at Urban Dog. They should remodel this place to make it look more appealing to me as a customer and to my dog. I left my dog one day and it just seemed like he hated it and wanted to get out immediately. And all the other dogs were staring in the direction of the door instead of playing and having fun. I have found a place just down the street that gives you way better value for your money.

Wed Apr 15 2009As a former emplyee this year of URBAN DOG under the direction of manager and animal trainer and specialist Miss Jan. I learned so much in dog care with an outstanding team of people who take pride in their work and also love the dogs very much. I would have my own dog stay, and play there. Clay Adkins

Wed Apr 15 2009I'm a huge fan of Urban Dog. It's clean and I NEVER smell dog urine when I go there. I don't know what kind of nose those people have!!! When dog urinate I do see that staff always clean it up immediately. It's so sad to see recent reviews so negative as if someone is trying very hard to damage the reputation of Urban Dog. I have taken my poodle here everytime I go out of town and never have such bad experiences metioned in those negative reviews. My dog is like my baby and I will not trust to leave him anywhere else but here. I so love that I can check my dog via Urban Dog webcam. Don't trust those negative reviews, give Urban Dog a visit and try it out for a day and you see that those negative remarks are LIES !!!

Tue Apr 14 2009I do not live in the Los Angeles area but travel there often on business. I always bring one of my little Tea Cup Poodles with me (I have three) and leave them at Urban Dog as a special treat because I know they will have a blast while I am taking care of business and will be well taken care of. I have left them as long as two weeks and am always amazed at how clean they are when I come to pick them up and I practically have to drag them out the door! I highly recommend Urban Dog as the next best place to home to bring your four legged buddies.

Tue Apr 14 2009I have read in detail some of the disgruntled statements in the past month that have been posted on city search in regard to Urban Dog... I find it very interesting that the only negative review have come in the last month and most of them are filled with lies... It seems to me someone is trying very hard to damage the reputation of a very repudable busines with lies and slander. Lies such as "a vet on sight," an untrue...never has Urban Dog claimed to have a vet on sight... URBAN DOG IS A GREAT FACILITY WITH THE DOG'S CARE FIRST AND FOREMOST.... I do not want to harp on what people said or supposedly said... I know the facility... know the owner and know her concerns for the animals that are under her care. URBAN DOG IS A GREAT FACILITY AND I RECCOMEND IT HIGHLY... My son has keep his dog, Molly there before and his experience was surperb. People that post bogus reviews base absolutely on fabricated facts and untruths really are miserable humans with way too much time on their ha... Read more

Tue Apr 14 2009I just started bringing my dog in DAILY; big change from our house with a doggie door! He's having the time of his life and getting plenty of love and exercise!! The staff is amazing and always makes me feel at ease when i drop the little guy off. I can't imagaine leaving him anywhere else; and i researched ALL my options!! I'm not sure who wrote those last reviews (over the last month or so) but it's total hogwash!! Sad really...someone so bitter and with all that time...Poor soul, probably out of work with nothing to do...Anyway, my dog loves the place! No issues whatsoever!!!! Grooming is fine, but the best part is I don't worry about him while i'm at work!! How cool is that? We LOVE Urban Dog!! Staff called me the first week to let me know the little man was fine and doing great!! Talk about caring and support!! WOW!! Thanks guys!!!

Tue Apr 14 2009I have been involved with Urban Dog for over 10 years - beginning with my adoption through their Rescue program. It is one of the only places I know of where the dogs are constantly monitored and played with (Dog Wranglers), they are grouped by play type (and not caged up all day) and the pens are regularly scrubbed down while dogs are put up for much needed naps. My dogs wag their tales in excitement when we pull up and come home happy and played out. Their dedication to the welfare of dogs is clear through both their daycare/boarding services and their rescue program. I highly recommend Urban Dog.

Tue Apr 14 2009Our famlly uses the services of Urban Dog when we go out of town on long trips. We have total peace of mind that all of our dog's needs are meet. What's cool is being able to check on our dog using the Webcam, we really liked that. We sometimes think that our dog won't want to come home because it is having so much fun at Urban Dog. Our family highly recommends Urban Dog!

Mon Apr 13 2009I decided to take my to dogs there and have them "groomed" at Urban Dog. My little angel came back with 5!!! bleeding nails!!!, they had been cut past the quick. And on top of it the prices are SKY high :(

Sun Apr 12 2009This place is quite simply a disgraceful business and I DEEPLY regret taking my two "fur babies" there for boarding and daycare. I had recently moved to Westwood and was hoping to find a new daycare close to where I lived. At first they seem nice and accommodating but more then once when I went to pick them up from daycare they were NOT IN THE DAYCARE!! Rather they were sitting in the CAGES in the back. When I asked why they would be separated I was told it was "naptime." Yet I never asked for any naps and I don't PAY someone good money for my dogs to sleep. That's what they do at home. Oh and I forgot the best part of this place. They claim to have a vet on staff, but turns out she is not a "REAL" vet and not certified. Needless to say I have no intention of EVER returning there and have since found an excellent daycare not far from where I live. It's lobby doesn't smell of urine either. Do yourself and, most importantly, your dogs a favor and stay FAR away from this ... Read more

Tue Apr 07 2009I've been a customer there for a while, but this was the last time my dog has gone there. He came back and was throwing up for 2 days straight. When I called to find out if he had eaten anything bad, they didn't even know me or my dog. I was put on hold and finally the connection was gone, they must have hung up on me. I called back, but there was no answer anymore. I'm not going back there, but I also want other people to know, I feel like customer satisfaction should be a top priority. This place used to be different.... :(

Tue Apr 07 2009I spend a whole day looking around at Kennels, because I just moved here from out of town. And this one was the one that least satisfied my or my dogs needs. This place was really not a place I would feel comfortable leaving my dog. During my "interview" two dogs in the back started fighting and all I could hear was yelping and crying, the staff screaming at them. I was HORRIFIED. They took one dog out into the back where I couldn't see him anymore. Besides that, like some other reviews confirm the place looks pretty rundown, there is no grass or outside area for them. Not really mine or my dog's expectations of a day care.

Tue Apr 07 2009every single one of these high praising reviews is completely full of it. I have been taking my dogs here for a while and things are nothing like they used to be. The staff has lost its touch - they used to have really sincere hard working people and now its just people who stand around and hide in the back, they started taking agressive dogs which seems like a ploy for money - and I have to agree with the other reviews where does my $40/day go? not back to the dogs, the manager Jan Naud is rude and obviously doesn't know how to run the show as everytime I come in and ask to speak her she is never there. Service has declined and I wish this place would collaspe because I have discovered there are way nicer places out there...one even only a few blocks away! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Tue Mar 17 2009First of all parking is terrible. I had to double park while I dropped off my dog. Not a big deal, but there was also no one at the desk when I walked in. I waited for about 5 min. before someone in the back noticed that I was standing there, but instead of helping me they just stood there and yelled for someone else. The girl working the front desk was friendly enough and took my dog and I went on my way. However, when I returned for my dog a few hours later I asked if I could watch him play. Then I was told that my dog was taking a break. When I asked what that meant they informed that he was in a crate. I never put my dog in a crate, I bring him to day care to play not to be stuck in a crate. He was only there a few hours and he is an older dog. There is no way that he was playing so hard that he needed to rest. If you want to pay to have your dog stuck in a crate this is the place.

Fri Mar 13 2009This place is like a pound that you pay for. Everything is ugly and worn down. It's cold and uncomfortable. I don't know why anyone would pay that much money to have your dog in this kind of environment. I don't what the owners doing with the profit but it certainly doesn't go towards renovations.

Fri Mar 13 2009I had to leave town and board my dog for 2 weeks. I was already worried about leaving her behind. She is very social and playful, that's why I decided to board her in a doggy day care. I had a bad feeling already while I was checking her in, when I heard the staff in the back yelling at the dogs to be quiet (dogs bark!!). I was assured to be able to keep an eye on my girl through their web cam. It turns out the web cams were not working for my entire trip. I called several times to see if they would address the problem, but they never did. Also, I requested to have my dog bathed before pickup. What I got back was my beloved dog still wet and shivering, that looked as it had just returned from a war. Had I had the time to research other Doggy Daycare's (which I have now :), I would have found lots of other boarding facilities with a higher standard of dog care.

Mon Nov 03 2008There is no doubt in my mind that Urban Dog is the best daycare for your dog. I feel completely at ease knowing my puppy is in their hands and I utilize them whenever I go out of town or am going to have a long day away from home. They always greet us with a friendly face and my dog always is so excited to get there to play with the other pups! I would highly recommend Urban Dog to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy place to leave your dog that's safe, clean and owned and run by people who truly love what they do!! Hands down best doggie daycare I've come across in LA!!

Wed Oct 15 2008I don't usually write recommendations but Urban Dog is hands down the best dog daycare in Los Angeles! My dog is always excited to arrive and it makes me feel great that the staff always treats him so wonderful while he's in their care. The facility is clean, the staff is fantastic, they pay close attention to my dogs special diet and I really can't say enough about the Urban Dog. If you want the best for your dog, definitely check this place out!

Mon Oct 06 2008Happy and tired is how my two giant breed dogs come home every time they visit urban dog ... and they go in wagging all the way! As a matter of fact ,the tails start thumping in the back of the van as soon as we turn the corner on to Pontius St. We have been play care and overnight boarding customers there, as our budget permits and needs demand, for two years. They do a great job of matching dogs with like-temperament playmates and supervising their play. The facility is clean. The staff is consistently courteous to me and unfailingly kind to my 'girls'. I highly recommend Urban Dog.

Mon Sep 29 2008My dog has really severe separation anxiety issues and I have been bringing her to Urban Dog for playcare ever since I got her and have had nothing but positive experiences. My dog is always super excited to go there in the morning and I am always reassured by how caring, trustworthy, friendly and patient the staff are. I love that they recognize her by name as soon as we walk in the door and know all her little personality quirks. I never worry when I drop her off in the morning, I know that she will be well taken care of and looked after. I would highly recommend Urban Dog to anyone.

Sun Sep 21 2008I can't imagine that anyone would have a bad experience here. I've had terrible experiences previosly with daycare facilities that smelled poorly and were overly crowded. Whenever I'd pick up my Cockapoo, she smelled bad and it was like she couldn't wait to get away from the place. But she LOVES Urban Dog. She is always very excited to go, and seems very happy (and tired!) when I pick her up. I've had her there for day play and overnight boarding. The staff are always very friendly, and patient with all of my questions. I like that they immediately recognize her (even though I don't go every day) when we walk through the door. There is a big window in the front so that you can see the dogs playing. Would recommend to anyone.

Thu Sep 18 2008Today my "mom" took me to Urban Dog for an interview. I am a very shy, mid-sized mixed-breed and was very nervous in the beginning. A very nice, gentle professional came out to greet me, he was introduced to me as "Bob". His calm demeanor and soothing voice made me feel comfortable right away, plus his outfit matched my coat, so I knew he had good taste! He walked me into the back so I could sniff out the facilities and ask the other dogs how they were. Everybody there was wagging tails, happy and clean. I passed my interview and am looking forward to spending time making new friends at URBAN DOG! I give it a two paws up!!

Wed Sep 17 2008Love love this place. We left Hershy our toy poodle backing May while we were in Hawaii for two weeks. We use our laptop to see him running around via webcam. It's awesome ! Urban Dog took very good care of Hershey. Very nice and knowlegable employees. Would not leave my baby with anybody else.

Mon Sep 15 2008A great, caring place for doggie daycare. Wonderful attendants, lots of space, easy drop off, competitive rates -- and best all my dog LOVES going there! When we arrive, the tail starts wagging -- the friendly staff greet him by name and, instead of looking longingly at Mom -- why are you leaving me here?? -- he's off to hang with the pack. A GREAT resource for pet owners! It's right around the block from Sports Club LA so I leave him there while I workout -- gulit free! They have a special 2 hour rate for this convenient service. The owner Kim is VERY flexible.

Thu Sep 11 2008I checked out several doggie daycares before deciding on Urban Dog. The staff truly love and care about the dogs that go there. My dog has been going there since she was a puppy and the moment we pull up, she knows where she is and can't wait to get in and play. She absolutely loves being there. I've never had a moment's worry about leaving her there because I know she will be well taken care of. They have the best drop off and pick up hours of any of the other daycares in the area and are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I highly recommend Urban Dog.

Wed May 28 2008I do not typically take the time to write reviews but I have to say this place is absolutely the worst. I called because I needed to find a place to board my dog over the next few weeks and this place was closest to my house. The gentleman I spoke with was very polite and seemed to know all the answers to my questions, even brought up the fact that he had the same breed of dog. Thinking that maybe I had found the right place I went in for an interview, this is where the experience went wrong. First and foremost the british woman they have upfront is very hard to understand, then while talking to me about the process and trying to answer my questions I noticed the place reaked! and not just of dog but it smelt like mary-jauna and urine. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to get out of there but thought well the guy on the phone was decent and the place looks alright and I'm here so I might as well finish the process. Then as she started showing me the play areas I realized there wasn't a ... Read more

Thu Aug 22 2002Urban Dog is absolutely the best place I have taken my pets - for a day or for a week. Everyone there really seems to care about animals, and treat their canine guests accordingly. My dogs (even the one with shelter flashbacks) love to go to Urban Dog. Plus, they have Sunday pick-up, unlike another kennel down the street. Could not recommend the place any higher.
