Fri Dec 11 2009Pros: Great university in a great setting. Just outside downtown Seattle, and with the southern part of the campus bordering Lake Washington and its classic Victorian/Gothic architecture, UW has one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. The professors were generally very good, but there are always those few that seem to value their tenure more than anything else. The class offerings are vast, as are majors and areas of focus, and the university has many nationally-recognized programs. The graduate schools are even higher when it comes to national recognition, especially for medical school, engineering, arts (like digital design), and business (MBA and accounting). Being so close to downtown Seattle, Fremont, and Bellevue, UW has no shortage of night life and restaurants/coffee shops/cafes close by. Tuition is very reasonable for residents (I'm not sure about non-residents/international students), especially considering it is one of the top public universities in the country. T... Read more

Mon Sep 17 2007One of the best all around public universities in the country world renown programs in engineering, medicine, biotech research, and law. Consistently in the top 40 of universities both public and private (11th best public university in the country). Beautiful campus not far from Lake Union in a vibrant and eccentric area called the U district.

Mon Feb 17 2003One of the most beautiful college campuses. The faculty at my program were well known in my field. The quality of education is as good as any other major university. The research programs are the best, no wonder it receives the largest amount of federal funds for research than any other university. Also nothing can beat the great view of Mt. Rainier and the beautiful city of Seattle.

Wed Jan 19 2000A gorgeous campus in a gorgeous city. A wealth of excellent academic programs. You can't beat the Puget Sound for all the opportunites to explore both a great urban culture as well as the outdoors. The rain keeps the population somewhat under control, though the city is getting crowded. The reading room in the library is phenomenal.
