University of Toledo

UT isn't as bad as everyone says, but I would have to agree that the city itself is a bit ghetto. I would know, I've lived here my entire life. The fact that the surrounding area is ghetto does not affect the school. I mean take New York, that place is pretty ghetto but people like it anyway.

While the teaching staff for general academics is comparable to the other universities I attended (Ohio University, Ohio State University) the professioanl level of the administrative staff (i.e. Bursars, Financial Aid, Student Advisors, etc.) is absolutely deplorable. They have one of the highest tuition rates of any public institution in Ohio yet they are continually making cuts that impact the quality of employees at the university. Financially and personally you would be better served at another institution. When you are paying over 4,000 dollars a semester you should at least be regarded with a modicum of respect but be assured you would not receive that at the University of Toledo.

The University of Toledo police have a long-standing history of committing crimes against students. Their most infamous act was when on-duty police officer Jeffrey Hodge kidnapped Nursing School sophomore Melissa Herstrum and took her behind a building on campus. After undressing her, he pumped fourteen bullets into her head, back, legs, and buttocks. A shot to her head was fired at point blank range. Just one week before this murder, Jeffrey Hodge pumped several shots into a sleeping female student's dorm room, narrowly missing her by several inches. He also set several fires on campus, made bomb threats, and harassed female students in several situations. Because the University of Toledo administration knew of Hodge's behavior, but took no action, they were forced to pay Melissa Herstrum's family one million dollars in a settlement. A high school with ash trays. Very weak academically.

Toledo is cool, phar-ma-sea is cool, but I dunno about that steve kid..
