Wed Sep 22 2010First I ordered, then I read the reviews. Then I waited with trepidation. My order arrived in a timely manner, but most importantly, it was very well packaged. There was tissue paper between the many pieces, all the parts were there and the hefty cardboard box that contained my order (a media storage cabinet) was well reinforced so that there was no damage in shipping. Folks, this is not "fine furniture". But the whole cabinet is real wood (pine) and after assembly, my husband and I are most pleased. One part that could have gone awry, the double doors, are perfectly aligned. We followed the instructions to the letter and as we were moving through the steps I wondered "is this right?" because it did not look like a cabinet to me. But, trust the instructions! We have a real nice cabinet. Definitely worth the price. Only one thing was not so hot. One of the door panels had a knot in the wood (Mother nature, you know), right on the edge. When we screwed it together, it cracked. We did hav... Read more

Thu May 20 2010We were a little nervous after reading some negative reviews of this company, but the price we were quoted beat a place within driving distance by several hundred daughters. Our order - a TV stand, coffee table and and side table - arrived quickly and we knew, from the reviews and from reading the company's policies, to closely inspect all pieces within 24 hours. The coffee table had a drawer, and the drawer's front had broken off. We contacted Unfinished Furniture Expo the next day and he was very cordial on the phone, and promised to send a new drawer quickly. It arrived within the week. The three furniture pieces are now finished and look beautiful in our living room. We had a great experience with this company and would use them again; Just be sure you look over everything right away.

Wed Mar 03 2010I ordered a table and 4 chairs from this company. When I recieved them the table was split in one of the corners and one of the chairs did not have 2 of the bolt holes drilled out. After 6 weeks (I guess it got "misplaced" in the warehouse) I finally recieved a 2nd table which was in even worse shape than the first one. The owner refuses to give me a refund. Stay away from this company at all costs!

Sun Jan 03 2010I "window shopped" for several months before finally deciding what I wanted. When I went to place my order with Unfinished Furniture Expo, they no longer offered one of the pieces I had decided upon. This was for a 6-piece wall solution. I contacted them through email and inquired about the piece I had seen previously in their online catalog. I received a response the next day confirming that it had been discontinued by the manufacturer but he would "see what he could do". The following week, I received word that he had been able to work out something with the manufacturer and that it would take a few weeks but the pieces I wanted for my project could be ordered. Also, the price quoted was the same as before. I was impressed by this as he knew how desperately I wanted these and I offered to pay "full price" if he could get them for me. The in-stock items arrived promptly and the "special" pieces took an additional 3-4 weeks, as I expected. Unfortunately, a couple of pieces fro... Read more

Tue Aug 25 2009Buyer Beware - Merchant did not reveal that one of the items in the order was on backorder and I did not find out until the rest of the order arrived at my house. Most of the items that did arrive were not drilled out correctly so the hardware did not fit (making assembly impossible). Initially, the merchant was quick to respond, but insisted that new hardward could be shipped out to correct the problem and would not accept a return. Then merchant did not respond to email questions for over 7 days. Had to ship back items at own expense and use credit card company to process a refund for the original order. After shipping back the defective items, the last backordered item arrived - even though I had cancelled the item! I had to deal with the hassle of shipping that item back also.

Mon Sep 08 2008WARNING!! The owner of this business will NOT honor the warrantee guarantee on his merchandise if it shows up damaged. We bought 4 pieces from Unfinished Furniture Expo, two of which had damage (smashed corners on a coffee table and two dents on the side of the sofa table). When we contacted the company, the owner told us that he would not honor the guarantee because we took 3 weeks to assemble the furniture after it was shipped (we had to wait to assemble the furniture because we were waiting to move into our new home). We are considering pursuing a complaint with Visa to have this addressed, but I wanted everyone to know that this is a small-time operation (the owner is the only person who works for the business) and they obviously do NOT support their 100% satisfaction guarantee.
