Not great and highly overrated considering how poor their most recent albums are.

Wow, what a bunch of self important shit.

They've been my favorite band since the mid-80s. But I can understand why they're so polarizing. Certainly Bono can turn a lot of people off without even getting to the music. Some of U2's recent activity {especially taking business out of Ireland for lower taxes when Bono has been lobbying Ireland (and everyone else) to give a % of its tax dollars to his causes} bother me a lot because I can't defend that hypocrisy. But I will continue to go to their concerts because when they're on, they're simply amazing.

I only like a few of their songs and is overrated.

Early U2 is really good. Anything after "Beautiful Day" is crap. Sorry, that's my opinion and you're allowed to disagree. ;o)

Probably the best rock band of the 80s.

Awesome, not crap.

I saw them on "Saturday Night Live" and I could barely understand a word that was being sung. I would hate to have to sit through an entire U2 concert. I don't own any of their CDs..

A band that has gotten very popular in the early 2000's, but recently seems to have sold out, introducing lines of 'customized' mp3 players and accessories for inflated prices. Songs are often vulgar and sexual, or far too mainstream, overplayed, and unoriginal to be justifiably popular.

I get their historical and political significance, but to me their music is terribly boring to listen to.

I've heard of them but can't name any songs from them. I think the leader is a dude named Bono.

They rarely move me,although "Bullet the Blue Sky" was great.

But of course, I know Bono and Edge and the crew. They are from my hometown.

Brilliant first album. One great single after that (11 O'Cock Tick Tock). And then: PRODUCT for a quarter century. Perhaps the last of the dinosaur arena rock bands? Definitely not an "Indie" band.

I have a very hard time seeing a band who has sold about 60 billion albums as Alternative or Indie. Frankly I don't like them all that much, despite their popularity, maybe because of it.

Fantastic band that has proven staying power.

I like the older U2 before they got political.

my fave band of all time!

Heady, rythmic, 80's-ish. I had a nephew who (very Irish) adored them while he was in college in the early 1990's. They always reminded me of the Doors on steroids.

Some of their songs I think are awesome and beautiful, but I'm not really enthusiastic about them overall. The majority of their work, to me, is not all that great, not all that bad. Still, I'd rather a band like U2 becomes commercially successful instead of someone like Billy Joel or Britney Spears.

Their new album "No Line On The Horizon" is great. I've seen them perform and they put on an awesome show!
