i am not going to bad mouth stephanie meyer, i think she has talent. i feel like she is good a formulating a good idea for books, but her execution is not there YET. I read this and honestly it is like a child wrote it. I am not saying her writing style or grammer or any of that. Its just unhealthy i think. I mean a well developted adult that has lived a little, knows that the bella is not in love with edward. Bella has a childs view of love and there is no basis to this deep love that she has. You never really see in detail why she loves him that much, she just does. I would have felt a little better about it if it were like the dracula thing were he made women fall in love with him through magic. I would not want my daughter feeling like that is what love is. I mean he keeps her away from her friends. He is obsessive. Honestly if he were a real guy, and you were a parent, friend, or associate of bellas. You would not like this guy in real life....also the things they say are cheesy a... Read more

When I saw the movie--I was not impressed like I thought I would be. But let me back up. Usualy when I hear about a really good book, I get and read it. This time I did not due to working too much and not enough time. My husband actually rented the movie while I was at work one day. So...I changed my clothes and watched. Like I said...I was not impressed like I thought I would be. First off, the thing that bugged me the most is that there were serveral things through out the movie that just didnt add up---not making much sense. Thats when I decided to get to the library for the book. And would you belive!! I waited 1 month and 2 days before I got the book!! LOL And WOW--is all I can say now. As I spent the next week with my nose in the book, I was able to veiw the movie in my mind as well and watched as things started to piece together. I, for one, am a very strong beliver in reading the books AND than watching the movie. Since this was a treasured read I wanted to ask you(Stephanie)... Read more

If you're about 14, and female, or think like one such, you'll love this book. I read the copy my younger son's girlfriend loaned him, (skimming) in about an hour. Adolescent, hormonal garbage, but if you're adolescent and hormonal it probably seems pretty good.

I absolutely love the love story in this although I will admit that it may not portray an entirely healthy relationship. Despite that, I absolute love this book and wish I could read it over and over. This is one that will never get old for me. Adventure, mystery, suspense and yep, even romance! What a great read!

I have always been a fan of science fiction and vampire stories. I have read Anne Rice, Bram Stoker's Dracula etc. Stephanie Meyer put a whole different twist on the legend and her writing is excellent. The movie was very well made but you needed to read the book to fill in the blanks in some spots! The scenery is breath taking!! I have started New Moon and look forward to finishing the series to see how this all is played out! After that I am reading "Angels and Demons" having already read "The Da Vinci Code." There has been or will be in everyone's life that one bad boy or girl. That one broken promise or love that leaves you devisitated at worst. Edward is certainly the ultimate bad boy but some exist without being vampires as we know but they can be of your emotions if you are not careful! Its great to see this book has got kids reading again...and oh yes adults!

I always assumed that young adult novels would be boring but this is not the case for the Twilight Saga. As an adult I am enjoying the books and loved the movie.

I finished reading this book last night. I found it to be.......OK. I found myself bored for about 400 pages. 400 pages of what seemed like the same dialogue over and over. I understood. He was beautiful and she loved him. He was a vampire, she was a human. They were teenagers. He found her intoxicating, fascinating, irrisistible, and beautiful. He does his best to convince her he is dangerous. She doesn't care. He can do some nifty tricks, she faints and gets dizzy a lot. He wants nothing bad to befall her. His family is cool. And then something finally does befall her. And it picks up for about another 100 pages and then just stops. The End until the next book. I expected more.

As an avid reader...like literally, I devour at least 10 books a month...Barnes and Noble associates know me by name...you could call me a nerd. I choose to call myself an English major with a passion for literature. I am in love with these books not because "omg Edward Cullen is sooooo dreamy!"...but because Stephenie Meyer accomplished a feat many seasoned authors cannot. From a dream, stemmed this fabulous world of innocent but complex love. Meyer has created a creative pool of genius that has gotten young adults reading again! I am so touched by that fact alone. In a time when reading has gone by the wayside and video games and "the Hills" are what young minds are devouring, I am so so happy to see something of substance in the hands of young girls especially. Meyer's characters are anything but simple. In all honesty, Edward's complexities ring true of any male who is lonely and a little bitter. Our heroine Bella, is by any right one of the most relateable female leads I have ever... Read more

Fucking hate this book, the hype is almost as horrible as the storyline. Chick meets, falls in love with vampire. Boo hoo he has to leave then she finds a werewolf and they have lots of sex then she's prego and boo hoo It's a series for whiners, that's all it is, four books of boohoo what a waste of a good species. damn Vex

This story has given me a new hope for romance to still be expressed and wanted. So many stories today have lost their innocence: the simplicity of loving someone. We must not forget they do have problems...( a lot of them ) but; still hinded in her story of Edward and Bella is understanding the love that they have for each other. I find myself being pulled into their story. I have very much enjoyed sharing these stories with my family and friends. I ,also; will look forward to more of Edward and Bella to unfold. I wait with great anticipation for her 4th book; Breaking Dawn (in a month )and the movie, as well ( in December ). So many people have thanked you for you storeies Mrs. Meyers', I'm sure. But, I would like to say that you have given me a gift, to be able to create a memory with my family....Thank you.

Okay so at first when I read this I thought "Wow this is pretty good.' And then when I was done I realized what I spent my time on. I spent it on a book where there's no character development, no good plot line, and no real detail. I swear to god this was the WHOLE plot line. "I woke up. I went to school. I thought about Edward Cullen. OHHH HIS AMBER EYES! I came home. I talked to my dad Charlie. I thought about Edward Cullen." And that's not all. Let's take Edward for example. He's supposed to be a beautiful PEFRECT vampire. But to be honest, he is NOTHING special. He is BORING. In some books, character personalties just fly off the page. But not with Edward. "OHH HIS CROOKED SMILE!" and that's pretty much it. Plus his dialogue is put into about 3 categories. 1- "Bella you are my moon and stars. I love you." 2-"Who says you can state your own opinions? I'm a vampire and I'm always right." 3-"Bella we cannot get too intimate. One wrong move and I can kill you." I don't know w... Read more

The story inspired me so much. I read the book in one day and I can't even put into words how brilliant it is! This book has changed the three words love, vampires, and Edward. Me and my friends are overly obsessed, it turns non-romantic people into hopeless ones!

I am amazed by stephenie meyer!!! Twilight is my favorite book of all time, and believe me I have read my fair share of books.  No description of this book could do it justice.  All I could say is that I recommend it to everyone.  Believe me, reading this book is well worth the time it takes to do so.

It's a great book; the kind you can read a million times but never really get the story correct, so natraully you have to read it again. i see Bella Swan, an older version of me. Of course, i will never have a vampire boyfriend ( im still not sure if thats a bad thing -_-') and i am quite tan but other than that, all of our features are exactly the same. Bella would handle situations, the same way i would. i also get motion sickness Very easily. It would surly be a wonderful thing if i could grow up reading this book; with the more and more novels coming its hard to choose, anyone who is unsure about buying it; dont hesitate. its a wondeful story.

It was one of those boring rainy days. I saw the book that my firned had forced me to borrow. So I reluctantly picked up the book and started reading it. Wow. I could not put the book down. I finished the novel in three days! I have never been so emotionally wrapped up in a novel. I felt as if I was Bella. I felt all her emotions. I fell in love with Edward. I litterally laughed and cried throughout the entire book. This is definitly my new favorite book. I'm buying New moon today... Read this book, you will be glad you did.

I read anything I can get my hands on, si-fi, fantisy, chick flik books and every thing else, but this book was the best i've read in a very long time. when i started reading it I didn't even know it had anything to do with vanpires. I have read to many vanpire books to count and they were ok but 95 persent of them could be a whole ton better, anyway I might not have even read it if i had seen the back before i started. im so glad i did though. i have already read it three times, and loved it more and more every time. I have also got at least 4 of my friends hooked it to. I am looking forward to reading twilight from Edwards perspective. this was without a thought the best vampire story i have ever read.

I love to read, its one of my favourite pass times. I first saw this book advertised in my girlfriend magazine and thought it might be a good book to read. As soon as I picked it up I couldn't put it down. It was so good that my older sister, who normally doesn't read books, even tried to steal it off me. Stephenie Meyer is a great author and I look forward to reading the next book. At the moment I am looking for any other books that she has written.

This book is one of my favourite books of all time. It is such a beautiful love story and it makes any girl in the world want to be Bella Swan just for the chance of meeting someone like Edward Cullen. It lets girls have a peek at what it would be like for everything to work out perfectly and to find your own true love. I have always enjoyed the Harry Potter series but I now find myself looking forward to the sequel of this book more so then my pre-favourite series, which I might add is quite a shock. The characters were just so real and Stephanie Meyer (the author) didn't fill in all the cracks so she let you create your own image of what someone who is drop-dead gorgeous should look like. It made you able to fill in the context with characters that to you make the story breath taking. The way that the characters moved and interacted was incredibly believable and the way she introduced the thought of vampires made that idea believable as well. This was one of my favourite books EVER. ... Read more

This a great book! It was written beatifully. This book has romance, mystery, fiction, some real facts, and most of all the words and that way they were used help me to understand the book better. I read this book when it come out on october 5th, 2005. I again read it 3 more times in feburary 2006, and 2 more times in march. Every time that i read this book i found more information each and every time. The only problem i have with this book is that it didn't end the way i wanted it too. I hope theres going to be a sequal to, I would really like to have a sequal come out. then i would be able to read them both toeghter. This was a wonderful book and i wish everyone would read it and see how wonderful it really is!
