Sun Sep 28 2008I'd love to, but they don't exist anymore!

Tue May 03 2005TWA is gone the way of Pan-Am, Eastern and many other fallen flags. I was on them in 1995 in an original model DC-9 with the old coat/hat racks over the seats. Then I tranferred to a real old 727. Sort of nostaligic, but they are gone!

Wed Mar 31 2004I remember when TWA was one of the prmier carriers, but even then, service was spotty. Many years ago, I flew TWA to Athens during the Easter holiday season, at the time of a strike by the flight attendants, so the attendants we had were strike breakers (but pleasant and attentive). To boot, this was when Icahn (I think that's his name) had taken over and was messing things up (that was the reason for the strike, if I recall). Anyway, service to Greece left a lot to be desired; passengers were given box lunches (no joke - a sandwich and a soft drink!) which weren't very good. The trip back was the diametric opposite. There were about twelve (yup, twelve) passengers, so each passenger had at least one flight attendant taking care of them. The food was really great - filet mignon (as much as you wanted), champagne, and anything else. It got to the point that the stewardesses were sort of annoying with their non-stop attention. Anyway, TWA for me has run the gamut from sublime to r... Read more

Thu Dec 20 2001TWA is just OK- nothing great or nothing too horrid. I was mad at them, though, because earlier this year I flew from Omaha to St. Louis then on to Cleveland for a job interview. Our flight to St. Louis was delayed but they assured us we would have plenty of time to make our connecting flight- WRONG! When we landed in St. Louis, I had to literally sprint from one end of the airport to the other and barely made the flight to Cleveland! I was not happy, plus I didn't feel good from puking as a result of air sickness. But that was my fault for not taking a Dramamine. At least they had a barf bag in the seat for me- I've been on some planes and they don't have any! TWA planes are old and dirty and need replacing- maybe that's why they're being bought out by another airline! The food is just OK- I lucked out and actually got a tray and not just a plastic bag to eat out of.

Sat Aug 11 2001I was traveling from DC to Des Moines and was checking my baggage in 8 hours early and was offered the chance to get on an earlier plane. I accepted the chance and arrived in Des Moines around 3PM with only 2 of my 4 bags. The baggage attendant for TWA was rude and refused to deliver my bags to Ames Iowa where I live. I called Customer Service and the CSR was also insulting and talked down to me. I asked whatever happened to the customer always being right and he informed me that was a McDonald's policy, not TWA's. I guess that is why another airling bought them and they will soon go out of business. The MD-80 planes they fly are old looking and dirty. The seats are so narrow that you feel cramped. They advertise about all this space but the only space you will find is the gap in your wallet after you pay for their service. I would recommend another airline if you can. This airline has no real concept of customer service and is only interested in getting your money.

Thu Nov 30 2000It's funny how we hardly ever speak of and certainly don't remember and regurgitate stories about how good a particular flight was but everyone has a story about how awful one was. Well mine was on TWA and let me first say I've since flown them and had a much more pleasant experience, but I had a really lousy flight on TWA from LA to NYC about 5 years ago. The actual flight wasn't so terrible but it was a redeye flight and the plane was filthy, the stewards/stewardesses were confrontational, the food was served (I kid you not) in a plastic shopping bag that was hand to me without any sort of tray, and I just kept thinking "if times are so tough I'm not feeling to confident about what the maintenance on say oh the engines might be like." Well I obviously landed safely but it took a long time, and a price war before I paid for a seat on TWA again.

Thu Aug 10 2000I have flown them a lot in the U.S., fortunately generally on time. Not great food and sometimes even on longer flights of 5+ hours they don't show movies. Friendly service though.

Thu Apr 13 2000Not the best but certainly not the worst I've flown. I had a flight on TWA about 5 years ago where I thought "man these guys are running on fumes" Service was terrible, food was served in a plastic shopping bag, flight attendants looked like they had either been rejected from all other airlines or were called up out of retirement. However, I've also flown them more recently and thought they were getting their act together, cleaner nicer planes, better service, and actual meals. I flew them to Spain and was perfectly satisfied.

Wed Nov 24 1999TWA is the worst airline. The seats are uncomfortable, the food is horrible, and the service sucks.

Tue Nov 23 1999I think TWA needs to get their act together, and soon. They can't charge prices as high as everyone else's and be inferior in every way.
