Sun Jul 25 2010I have been a TV Land viewer for quite a long time now. However, I have noticed that the commercials are longer than they used to be. As soon as the program starts with the entry segment right away it cuts to a five minute commercial. Also during the show, the commercials are too long as well and I have noticed some of the show is missing to accommodate the commercials. I find myself flipping to another channel and staying there. I watch a lot of reruns and other channels that carry some of the same programming as TV Land have fewer commercials.

Tue Feb 23 2010The Nostalgia Channel.People get nostalgic for the days when TV was FREE once you bought a set & plugged it in.They are also nostalgic for the days when there were several decent shows to choose from and not 500 channels of mind numbing garbage.

Sat Jul 18 2009What AMC is to movies, TV Land is to TV shows. The same shows you used to watch for free, you can now pay to see in 5 and 6 hour blocks. Five hours of "M*A*S*H", 6 hours of "Roseanne", 5 hours of "Andy Griffith". And all the commercials you used to get on free TV, you still get, only more of them. TV Land is the 21st Century's version of the Ludovico Technique.

Fri May 22 2009TV Land is nothing like it used to be. They use to play classic television 24 hours a day seven days a week. They promoted their classic tv offerings on a day-to-day basis. In addition, they would play retromercials (commercials that were made in the 60s & 70s). They offered a variety of classics for the viewers to see. At one point, they had the rights to almost 40 classic television shows. And back in those days, they aired about 23-22 minutes of the show. Also, they would do special blocks of their shows on a regular basis such as Box Set (episodes of four shows under one theme), Better Living Through Television (classic sitcoms from 60s ... most of them were in black and white), ect. As some would describe it, TV Land back in its glory days was "an oasis or escape from reality shows and modern programming". Now (2009), it's just another station that has basically abandoned it's beloved format. They air reality shows, movies, and get this ... shows from recent decades (such as Co... Read more

Wed Apr 08 2009i can't believe they even show these shows anymore. But that isn't the problem. My mom is from the 60's and she loves this channel, but they always show the same episodes of shows, as if some episodes were never made.

Sun Oct 12 2008This network used to show only classic tv programming from the 50s-70s. Now they mostly show sitcoms from the 80s-today, reality programming & movies. They do still air some classics (I Love Lucy, Leave It To Beaver, Beverly Hillbillies) but they are hard to find many times. Viacom has pretty much ruined another channel.

Tue Sep 23 2008TVland has gotten terrible. I just watched an episode of Hogan's Heroes. 2 minutes into the show there was a commercial. It lasted from 3:32 until 3:38. Effectively about 6 minutes. At 3:44 another commercial lasting 3+ more minutes. Finally the show ended at 3:57. Shows from the 60's ran around 25 or so minutes. TVLand has effectively took around 6-7 minutes off that run time...Basically 18-19 minutes of the show. A complete hacking, so bad that it totally messed up the script(noticeably hard to follow). Don't even start me on the new programming. Absolutely pathetic... It seems to me like there would be enough of a following to start a classic show network (that actually showed classic shows) considering the absurd amount of channels currently available via cable. Hey, I am a 28 year old and I enjoy these old shows. If you noticed AMC did the same thing. They started by adding 1 commercial in the middle of the movie (something that I didn't mind, gave me time to get a d... Read more

Thu Sep 11 2008Now, more than ever, TV Land is a victim of a debilitating disease that is afflicting the majority of cable/satellite television networks. This disorder is known as the "network creep." It starts out innocently enough, with a "special event" of a movie or a current TV show outside of the original networks mission. But, by the later stages, nothing can be done as the network changes logos and themes, ditches its original purpose and becomes a clone of fifteen other networks, most of which are also easily diagnosed with "network creep" themselves. Ironically, TV Land began to offset the tiniest beginning stages of network creep seen on Nick at Nite. There were so many classic 50s, 60s, and 70s shows that TV Land was to be the 24-hour home for them, "guaranteeing TV satisfaction." These included a vast variety of rarely seen shows such as "Batman," "Green Acres," and "The Monkees" just to name a few. Up until 2004-2005, the show had a nicely variable lineup of classics that was excitin... Read more

Sat Aug 02 2008They do have some good programs, but what really gets annoying is when they take one particular show, and have a marathon of it all day. I think it would be a lot better if they mixed them up a little more.
by jake_armitage
Sat Aug 02 2008Good, but they could definitely upgrade their selection of old shows. There is a lot of stuff out there that they don't play that is really funny.

Sun Jul 20 2008My family is not happy because of your ridiculous reality shows and inappropriate advertisements for the logo channel. If this continues we will block this channel.

Mon Apr 07 2008I wish they cared about long time viewers who would still watch IF they would give us back our oldies shows!

Sat Mar 29 2008For the most part I like TV Land...don't like some of the series they are running right now but they also play movies. I prefer Nick @ Night for the series except TV Land plays a lot of Andy Griffith and Mash.

Sat Jan 05 2008Too much editing going on - it's ruining shows such as Andy Griffith. They cut scenes crucial to the show, it's like they don't even bother to watch the show they are editing. I agree that quality of TVLand has gone down hill.

Sun Dec 30 2007I would have given TVLand a "5" but they are slipping, just as many of the others have written. I do not want "original" programming, like they are starting to do! We can get that anywhere, anytime. People who watch TVLand want the old classics (Andy, Sanford & Son, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, etc.). Personally I do not like to see recent shows on here (by that I mean Designing Women) since we can usually see these elsewhere anyway. True, you can see Andy and some of the others on other outlets, but these are classics, which stand the test of time. I could watch Andy, Bonanza, Sanford all the time. One other thing TVLand: Please stop editing the TV shows so much! This is our number 1 pet-pee. We want to see the entire show. So many classic scenes and laughes have been cut out it makes me mad! At least occasionally run a night of "un-cut episodes".I don't watch TVLand as much as I used too mainly due to the changing of the schedules. I am glad they added The Hillbillies. It is a true classic. I'... Read more

Fri Oct 26 2007A great place to watch good clean family type of shows. I enjoy Happy Days when they have the show playing, I also love to watch The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, you name it Seventies, I love to watch it.
by disgust4pcness
Mon Sep 24 2007I could watch Andy Griffith 24 hours a day, everyday and never get bored of the show (as long as I'm watching the B&W; era with Don Knotts). It's also great to see Bob Newhart (the real one that ran in the 70's) again, too.

Sat Sep 15 2007They should all this channel (the bonanza, gunsmoke,Andy griffith channel)IF they would change their line up more often,I might put it back on my channels.
by katiepin53
Fri Aug 10 2007do we really need to have 4 hours of bananza, then gunsmoke after. we need have tv land mix things up with sitcoms.

Sat Apr 07 2007Ten years ago I would have given this station a 5 but, they seemed to have slipped. They seem to be stuck in a rut and with the edition of their new "TV Land Original" shows this channel just isn't what it used to be. I have tried, with thousands of other viewers for over a year to write the editors on their own site (programming sugestions) but, it seems to fall on deaf ears. Although I do like the I love lucy, Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver shows, they have been played to death along with Sanford and Son, All in the Family and Beverly Hillbilly's. I have never been a big western fan although it was nice for awhile to see the old "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza" series in rerun but, they have run those in the ground now. As far as the "MASH" and "Three's Company" generation of shows they can be seen in rerun on all kinds of stations. Why they don't bring back shows like "Please don't eat the daisy's", The Mothers-In-Law", "Family Affair", "Wild, Wild, West", "Maverick", The Nanny... Read more

Tue Mar 13 2007TV Land broadcasts great classic shows that have stood the test of time: Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, Lucy, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Munsters, Newhart, Beverly Hillbillies, Sanford and Son, All In The Family, etc, etc. Like the world we live in, today's shows are much darker, full of sex, violence and the other assorted ugly sides of the "human condition".

Mon Mar 12 2007Some of my favorite TV shows come on TV land like Three's Company, MASH, Cheers, and I Love Lucy. They just don't make shows like that anymore.

Tue Nov 14 2006To start with tvland is not the same as it was years ago.My kids would come home and watch tvland faithfully everyday now they could care less if they ever watch it because of all the program changes. We feel shows like my mother the car,my three sons, petticoat junction, ozzie and harriet, father knows best, courtship of eddies father, and a host of many more like these shows I have named. The old commericals you all need to bring the back also for tvland to be named number one channel on television.Because right now in my household its the least channel that is watched because we never watch tvland now but we will if its changed back. Thank you Arlene Cox -Kentucky

Sun Nov 12 2006Lucy is about all I watch, but they air that on other stations too.

Sat Nov 11 2006I like classic t.v. shows like: Three's Company, I Love Lucy, Goodtimes, Sandford and Son, Happy Days and Bonanza.

Sat Jan 28 2006If I could give it zero stars I would. What was once a great network in the late nineties has become Toilet Land. This is all because they no longer show 50's and 60's shows. Youth is where the money is and us baby boomers no longer count. Have not watched this garbage programming in over a year.

Sat Jan 14 2006too many commercials, doesn't really stick w/ old television shows

Mon Oct 24 2005I was appalled on October 23, 2005 at 1:20am to turn on TVland to find that the channel that our son and our family watch was running a commercial for a Gay man phone center where they can meet other gay men. What happened to Nick at Night and TVland providing good wholesome family entertainment. As a christian white family who has no one to protect our rights I am sickened that no one is out to prevent our rights being infringed on by the gay activists and ones who do not believe in God. When will there be someone out to protect our rights.

Tue Jun 07 2005Good for some nostalgia. One of the things I like is they air some of the shows that haven't been run into the ground through syndication already. I watched The Rookies awhile back, a show I'd completely forgotten about.

Mon Jun 06 2005Great nostalgic fare.

Wed May 11 2005TV Land is now similar to what Nick-at-Nite was some years ago. While Nick-at-Nite does have a couple of programs I enjoy, TV Land seems to be, in general, much more superior and higher in quality than NAN. TV Land shows more of the '50s and '60s programs, where NAN doesn't do that anymore. TV Land even offers a few classic advertisements for nostalgia's sake -- for example, I saw an old Messy Marvin (Peter Billingsley) commercial for Hershey's Chocolate Syrup that really unleashed some of those childhood memories (and if you're a thirtysomething like me, you'd identify).

Mon Apr 25 2005I am going to have to chang my rating this past year was one of the worst they moved i love lucy to 10:00am they put the worst realty show on. But what I do like is they put on All In the family. If you ask me they have to put on more shows like The Lucy Show, ChIps{cop show} Differnt Strokes, Family Ties, Facts of life.

Thu Apr 07 2005This and Nickolodeon are pretty much the only channels where you can watch the classic 60's and 70's comedys like Bewitched, Sanford and Son, All In The Family,Gilligan's Island, etc.

Sun Mar 27 2005Great to watch Andy and Barney as well as Beaver with my own 9 year old! Too bad they don't make any shows like those today!

Sat Mar 26 2005A huge dissapointment.I've seen most of the shows they air dozens of times. When i want to watch a good, old western, I watch the Hallmark channel.

Sun Mar 06 2005Definatly one of the best stations. They have great shows and every month change them to new ones. LONG LIVE TVLAND!

Mon Nov 01 2004If you want to be nostaligic and watch some of your old favorites than this is the channel for you. Thats all they show is old TV shows and they can get repetive at times but it is good to watch the old favorites every now and then.

Sat Oct 09 2004Love it, need to get some more different shows, bring back the Honeymooners and I want to see more old commercials.

Sun Sep 26 2004A long time ago ( and I do mean long), when I first got cable, the first channel I turned to was TV Land. The show that was on was the Brady Bunch and I got hooked to the channel instantly. But as time went one, I've noticed that all the great classics have been dropped or moved to obsecure time slots and in their place are immature original programming or just shows that are not really classics. They've really dropped the ball and at the pace their at now, they may never be able to pick it back up.

Thu Aug 19 2004I love watching Bewitched, I Love Lucy, The Munsters, Mister Ed, I Dream of Jeannie, and the Brady Bunch on this channel. It lets adults bring back memories and share them with their kids...and the kids enjoy watching it! I only give it 4 stars because of its Andy Griffith obsession.

Wed Aug 04 2004Continues to be on a very serious downward spiral. Too many lineup changes and are now doing original programming. A formerly excellent bastion of classics now just another channel showing some old shows.
by judy_hopskin
Mon Jul 26 2004It is great because I am from the old school, but are there not any black shows that are old school too? Like Fredd Sandford, George Jefferson, and Good Times! Thanks!

Tue Jun 22 2004Weeeeee! No reality tv, just good old classic television!
by coco13a8
Wed Jun 02 2004I love TVLAND. Now they are showing Green Acres which is so funny ! The only thing I can't figure out is here they have all the classic black and white Andy Griffith shows and they don't show them. They just show the bad color episodes instead. Please start showing the great black and white Andy Griffith shows again !!
