True Blood (HBO)

Sucks. IN A GOOD WAY LOLLLLLLLLLLLL

A few years ago, I gave up HBO after a dispute with my cable company, but it was a real loss, as I think it's responsible for some of the better shows ever, whether on TV or in the movies. Face it-- am I better off watching "The Wire" in my home or going to a theatre and paying $10-plus to watch a puerile cinematic version of a comic book I was reading when I was about 7? Or "Transformers 16?" Or just about anything coming out of Hollywood these days? When I gave up HBO, I decided that I would buy the DVD's when they became available if the series being advertised intrigued me. It would put me out of step with people gossiping about a particular episode the day after said episode initially aired, but I'd still be able to watch quality programming, albeit a bit belatedly. Its how I've watched "The Wire," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Sopranos," "Brotherhood" (which is a Showtime production, but just as good as anything that appeared on HBO). Well right now my review is ok but from last season i can tell my review might be going towards terrible, this show started off pretty good and is now slowly losing its appeal. Does everything in the show lately have to be so gay, i understand the year is 2011 but if i wanted to watch a gay show i would watch that gay channel on cable. This seems to be what hbo has a problem with shows are hot out of the box then they deminish after a few seasons

This show is amazing, and follows the Sookie Stackhouse series, by Charlene Harris. The books and T.V. Shows are way different, but I love both. This T.V. show gets more intriguing every season. I love that it takes on a life different from the books. I also love that they are nothing like the Twilight vampires. Vampires coming out of the "coffin" to the world, is an amazing thought.

My "wife" likes to watch this show and I can tell she wants me to like it. I started watching it because I heard it was so damn good. Well, I think it is a little cheezy and simply feeds in to the hysteria of vampire loving that is going around the ladies. I will say that I made a decision that deeply impacted another person's life based on the inspiratioal message I got from one of the episodes. My attorney won't let me say more than that.

This is a amazing show based off the Sookie Stackhouse novels. The show is great in the story and NOTHING like twilight, its much much much more crude and vulgar. In which makes it 100% better than twilight. Season 1 was amazing and so was season 2. Cant wait for the 3rd season to be done!!!!

This was just another show jumping on the Twilight bus, but somehow it sucked me in and I've seen every episode. It's terrible. Bad acting, not a good looking cast. It's just stupid

I thought this was quite different when I first saw it. There is an interesting feel to it. Part of it was even deep. Bill the vampire is quite good looking and Anna Pacquin is also good. The setting is good. Some of the actors look like low life people but they are supposed to. You should probably be baptised before watching it or whatever you do in your religion. It was kind of fun. I know the vampire movies can get to be kind of ho hum but it was putting a different spin on it. It's not for prudes. I'm kind of surprised it's from HBO since I don't expect that much from them but then again I am not.

True Blood is a solid series based on its own merits, and certainly more interesting than most vampire-related drivel that comes out of Hollywood, but it doesn't hold a candle to other HBO series like Deadwood and the Wire. I watched most of the first season, but never really got sucked in (oo...inadvertent bad pun). This may be mainly to do with the fact that vampires have always struck me as a bit silly...especially considering I had a bunch of goth friends in high school who were hopelessly infatuated with them.

This show is amazing! Its very creative and it will have you on the edge of your seat! After every episode i always think "dang what could happen next!!!!" The show is awesome and the actors are great! Sukie is so brave and has such a "sweet girl" personality, while Bill is mysterious and charming. Tara is by far hilarious! The show is very sexy and mysterious all at the same time! I cannot wait for the summer for the 2nd season to come on!

I am so addicted to this show. Not only the show, but the southern vampire novels authored by Charlaine Harris. I find myself waiting around all day Sunday for True Blood to start! I love the whole idea of the show and the novels. Vampires finally come "out of the coffin" and expose themselves to humans after the Japanese create synthetic blood. True Blood takes place in Bon Temp, Louisiana, a small town that hasn't yet seen any vampires. Sookie Stackhouse, who is a telepath and works at the local bar, ends up waiting on and eventually falling in love with Bill Compton, the first vampire to make in appearance in Bon Temps. The show follows Sookie and Bills relationship as well as the townspeople's struggle to not only accept Bill as a vampire in their community, but also Sookie's attraction with Bill. Of course, there's a whole lot more to the show.. but you need to watch it to find out! The only thing I find mildly dissapointing is that the show doesn't follow the books as much ... Read more

True Blood is shaping up to be another outstanding HBO show.  The storyline: with the launch of synthetic blood, vampires are able to go "mainstream" and take their position in society.  A tiny Louisiana town called Bon Temps struggles to adapt to the social changes involved with having vampires living among them.  There are plenty of cool political metaphors in this show, not to mention the awesome Cajun accent from a few characters.  I'm hooked now.
