My regional manager for All-Tex Exteriors and I went here and had a great lunch and business meeting. The food and service were both great and timing was perfect for a lunch time business meeting. Robert Green All-Tex Exteriors.

For drinks, Trudy's is it, especially the mexican martini. For food, it is okay. Austin has way too many really good texmex resturants to be eating at Trudy's.

I had the Stuffed Avocado at Trudys and it was just out of this world. The waitress was very friendly offering generous quantities of chips ...

I find myself at Trudy's at least twice a week. Sometimes I crawl in there in the morning for a quick plate of much-needed breakfast tacos. Sometimes I stroll up in the afternoon after work for happy hour. Either way, I rarely leave disappointed. The food is pretty standard Tex-Mex, the kitchen is cool about vegetarian/vegan options and both their red and green complimentary salsas are excellent. Drink prices are great and, if you can make it there before 5pm, you should have no trouble snagging a table on the patio. I've had one really bad service experience but I chalked that up to one particular server paying too much attention to a table of off-the-clock employees and not enough attention to our table. Trudy's is not changing the way we think about food, but it is keeping us full and filling up our glass whenever we ask.

Trudy's is great. A fun casual place, w/cold beer, good margaritas, and HOT salsa. Parking is difficult when crowded, however seating was prompt. Breakfast is great here too.

I heard so much about this place and finally tried it last week. I was so dissappointed. The margaritas were watered down and not strong at all. That's a Tex-Mex staple! You've got to get that part right! My enchiladas were forgettable. What's up with the corn all over everything? Our service was ok, very Austin. Don't think I'll ever go back unless a big group is headed there.

i have been going to trudys since I moved to Austin in 99. They have the best Marguaritas anywhere! They also have amazing veggie burgers and great green chile chicken tacos. If you have not been here you have to go!

I really haven't had much off the Trudy's menu because I ALWAYS order the stuffed avocado! I crave this if I go too long without having it! It's excellent! There is always a wait here but that is to be expected. Great drinks, they have a full bar. The patio is great in the summer.

You must try the stuffed avocado with suiza sauce. It's delicious and I've never had anything even close to it anywhere. The beans and rice sides are average. The prices are reasonable. You and a friend can go and get stuffed on their delicious food and get a nice buzz for under $30. The waitstaff is nice, but sometimes there is a wait, the seating area gets cramped, and it does get loud at peak times. The drinks are pretty good, but not good enough for me to visit them only for the bar. Go to Trudy's! It's fun, it's local, it's yummy!

I like Austin, but the children running around screaming about what Britney did and their reality tv shows make this place seem like a high school. The food is decent, nothing to rave about and surely would never be this popular in Houston or Dallas. Margaritas aren't very good, and service is.... well very Austin. The hostess was friendly and the restaurant tries, just doesn't accomplish anything more than a hangout for little kids.

Is the frozen Mango!!! Or the Strawberry-Mango!! Soo insanely awsome! Trudy's is a little hard to find at first, it's tucked back off of Guadalupe Street, near the Spiderhouse...and It's always hard to find parking. Older college crowd mostly, really popular-- Even when the weather's bad Trudy's is usually packed. Can't say much about the general menu b/c as I said before---I just go for the Mango Margarita!! It's to die for!

A joint right north of campus. A real tradition - this location is the original. Mexican Martini's are the best in town. Other drinks are fine. Good place to have a good time with friends. Usually always crowded - but also always fun. Food is ok, really nothing special - just more typical Austin Tex-Mex stuff - a little above average. Go here for the drinks and fun. The north location has a cool breakfast buffet - not sure about this one. One annoying thing is their irritating drink limits, and carding you *every* time you get a drink, please - I assume they have had some liability problems. Thank you lawyers, parents, and nothing better-to-do Austin police force.

This is definitely an Austin jewel that is located in close to campus, so expect a large UT student and alumni crowd. Trudy's offers a bar side for those that just want to order a few things, kick back, and enjoy some mexican martinis. Also, Trudys has it's main restaurant area where they offer some good tex-mex with dishes (my favorite) like stuffed avocado, hondo burrito, and chille relleno... all with suiza sauce. Trudy's is definitely a locals hot spot, and will probably continue to be for a long time.

For years, this has been a favorite location for people watchin on campus, for Happy Hour and debatably the best Mexican Martinis in town. recently though, I learned they have breakfast and tried some other items on the menu. my fav is the Southern Style Chicken Breast with garlic and cheese mash potatoes. bring your appetite.

What's not to love?? Great college-crowd spot. Fried avocados stuffed with chicken..sooooo unbelievably yummy. My mojito was off the charts. The mexican martini was good, although not quite as exotic or exciting as I thought it might be (unlike the mojito). The guac was actually fresh! woohoo...and spicy...amazing. Salsa was so-so (green better than red, which was more like V8...they serve both). Service was fantastic...waiter gave good recommendations, and despite the place being busy, took plenty of time to explain the menu. So much fun and so good. Finding all of this on a Sunday was quite the surprise...had had no intentions of heading downtown, but Trudy's got me going with the drinks and the atmosphere.

I'd just like to agree with the previous review about the Mexican Martini - bueno! The food is also very good and affordable. One tip - if you're interested in actually being able to talk, wait for a seat in the restaurant. Do not opt for the downstairs bar. I'm not kidding - people literally scream at each other to be heard. I'll definitely go back to Trudy's, but will go when I have time to wait for a seat in the restaurant.

Nothing can best describe this place other than "mexcian martini", it's best. I have never had anything like it before. It's an amazing drink which is really a margarita on the rocks, but they spice it up a bit and serve it in a martini glass which is cool and they put in olives too, and they serve the rest in a shaker. I want to tell you it is strong, but nothing over powering or anything like that. Don't waste your money on upgrading it to a stronger liqure the original is just fine. The food is ok, I think next time we may just have drinks and appetizers, the prices are great especially if your on a budget. I can really see why this place is a local favorite, I will definetly return.

The original location of what is now an Austin staple has served award-winning spicy migas, salsa and margaritas since 1977. A large Tex-Mex and Southern menu satisfies veggie lovers and carnivores alike, including fresh spinach quesadillas and sizzling beef, chicken and portobello fajitas. Tables are packed under beamed ceilings to maximize the small space, so many get there early to save seats on the patio, where hip students and young professionals linger over appetizers and cocktails.

I have two words for you...Fried Avocado!! Yes it sounds strange but let me tell you it is absolutely the best. If you are sensitive to heat this may not be the restaurant for you because most of their food is pretty spicy. I love spicy food but the queso was even too spicy for me and my husband. Other than that it was wonderful!

I've eaten here only once but the experience was so great that I just had to say something! Very rarely isn't it that you can come across a restaurant that has seriously good food and I must recommend their barbecue beef tacos and be sure to put lots of sauce on it. I only had two but they fill you up pretty quick. Everything else was superb and the waitress was really nice, despite the entire place being packed on a Saturday night. Parking is a hassle though so be prepared to have to walk.

I have finally found a good breakfast spot!!! I like a good pancake and I don't want to pay a lot. What cool about this place is that m-f they have half portion breakfast entries. For less than four bucks i can have pancakes, egg, and sauasage. Yum! Where else can i have a mexican martini at 7am. Their migas are so fab and cheesy.

Very close to UT campus. Parking lot is very tiny, you may have to walk a bit. Food is good, and portions are large. Expect leftovers. Atmosphere and staff are slightly eccentric. Breakfast is also an option. Recommended.

I have had some nasty 'ritas in Austin, but NEVER at Trudy's. The quality of the drink and the great service, even while packed to the hilt makes Trudy's a MUST VISIT everytime I am in town.

Yes, the food is good, but the Mexican Martini - a margarita served in a cocktail shaker - is the best value in town. You can upgrade to "top shelf" but why bother when the house blend is smooth and refreshing?

I spent the last night of my Austin vacation at Trudy's. Did not eat dinner, but had a snack sampler and a "Mexican Martini"-- a margarita served in a martini glass accompanied by a shaker full of the concoction. Quite a large portion (no wonder the limit they enforce is 2 per person). I sat of the comfortable sofas while I enjoyed my drink, while listening to both popular and obscure 80s tunes. It was definately a good time!

Yeah, you have to try the margarita's! For Tex-Mex, this is one of the best! If you want the best Mexican food, why are you in a city 300 miles away from the border? Visit El Paso and taste the best you'll find anywhere in the world!

My friend Carole and I regularly go to Trudy's for their Mexican Martinis! They are fabulous. Go ahead and get the house tequila and ask for extra olives... it's our favorite to the point I think we have become regulars!

Trudy's use to have good Margarita's, but in the past year they have changed something in them, and it isn't for the better. Too bad they saw a reason to change the good thing they had going.

The top shelf margaritas are okay, but they are a little heavy on the mixer. Too much orange. The house margarits are nothing but sour mixer.

I was visting Austin and craving Mexican. So I hit this page and came up with Trudy's. I was pleasntly suprised by the food and quick serivce. This is an excellent restaurant with good fresh food, but it can get a little expensive, so dont expect to come out under $9 a person.

Trudy's has great Tex-Mex food, not to be confused with Mexican food. And the drinks are great because they're cold and relatively cheap. If you're looking for swank, go to the warehouse district. As far as service goes, that place is amazing. It's constantly packed with loud people looking to eat as much as they can as quickly and cheaply as they can and the staff does all they can to ensure it happens. You won't see a waiter picking their teeth there, so have some compassion when it comes to tip time!

I can't vouch for the full menu--I've only ever eaten appetizers--but the Mexican martinis are above reproach. The mix of after-work and after-class crowd affords a variety of interesting eavesdropping opportunities. Opt for the patio.

I like to sit outside when the weather is nice. The wait staff here is usually on top of their game. This is a good place to meet with friends over food and drinks. The mole enchiladas are sweet and very good. The ritas are very good.
