Thu Aug 13 2009This unit was delivered with the box open. I could not get the boom to go into the shaft. I have assembled other units with no problem. Amazon was great in handling the product return. The only problem was that I was not reimbursed for shipping charges. Troybilt is a good named product, but I feel something happened with this order. Paul Zartun

Wed Aug 12 2009I have had this item for about a month and it performs very well for my typical home use. It has enough power to trim grass easily and even takes down some pretty stout bushy weeds. The spring assist starting works great; I had a McCullough trimmer that I had to wear gloves to start, and the Troy-Bilt starts right up if you just follow the directions. You are supposed to pump the fuel button and then give it 5 pulls with the choke closed and the throttle trigger squeezed. Then open the choke a notch and pull again with the trigger squeezed. When I do this it starts the first time, even with the old gas from the other defunct trimmer (the McCullough developed a bad magneto). The unit is light weight but I would recommend getting a strap if you have a big yard. I would recommend this for anyone who plans to trim once a week. Wed Aug 12 2009Don't buy this trimmer unless you like to continuously work on getting the string to feed through the head. The part on the trimmer where the edger attachment is supposed to connect to broke off about 30 minutes after I got it out of the box. I did not get rough with it; this is a flimsy product and I regret buying it!

Mon Aug 10 2009in short, easy assembly, starts right up, kicks grass all over feet...other posters mentioned different rotation than most trimmers...i don't know. great for my 5 minute trim work every week.

Fri Aug 07 2009This unit started right up out of the box. It takes a long time to warm up. You have to let it run about five minutes before you can give it full throttle. Overall, the timmer runs pretty well once it's warmed up. Tall grass will easily become entangled around the head of the trimmer. The guard offers no protection so you will be covered with debris after you use this trimmer. Be sure to use good eye protection.
