The 08 Trek 7000 has a comfortable saddle and the stock Bontrager Select Invert tire has very little resistance but that's about it. Heavy, Heavy, Heavy. So heavy that the rims had a flat spot a little after 6 weeks of use. I have a 130lb frame and I never ran over any potholes but still had problems with the wheel. Bicycle dealer just replaced the wheel with a new won but is still fighting warranty with TREK. I use this bike to commute 20km a day. Pretty disappointing especially when the wheel fails in the middle of your commute. TREK is taking a long time replacing the wheel so dealer was kind enough to install a new wheel free of charge so I can use the bike while waiting for a reply from TREK. This bike is not reliable and I would not recommend it. I will never ever buy a TREK again. Funny though because the dictionary defines "trek" as a long arduous journey, typically on FOOT. If you buy this bike from TREK, expect a long walk home!

Hi here is my rating for this classic wonder trek 7000. It is now 2007 and i bought my 7000 in '03 for $500 used. It served me as my learner bike, but later i had to have a dualie. Then later i had to have my 7000 back online. It is SO reliable, balanced and great geometry for singletrack. I love love love my 7000. I have upgraded everything except the shifters. They are Shimano XT . By major changes, I added disk brakes, a Fox RLC, /post/pedals/wheels/stem/bars/dearaieurs/seat post/crank set//headset. I think that is it. I have been over the bars a number of times, having since learned to sit way back at the right times. This bike is an old friend and has shipped around the country several times with me on holidays. Needless to say, I love it, it loves me.

excellent ride. I beat the living crap out of this bike and it kept on taking it. Replace the stock chain right away!

Had mine since 1994 and still going strong. Upgraded the forks and drive train since then but all other components are still stock other than seat and I ride it all over the country on different grades of single track from novice to experienced rides. Can't find a better bike for the money.

Great bike for the money. I cracked up when I read some guys review written in August of 2000 saying it would wear out in a year of racing. Today is 1/28/01 - guess he has a crystal ball. Tell you what. I've got over 700 miles on mine since last July all in the mountains, 95% rocky muddy, technical single track. Lots of climbs, lots of great fast, technical downhills. I've worn the paint off the frame where my feet rub, crashed it enumerable times, ride it HARD. Attack. Extremely competitive. This bike has held up great. Broke the stock chain several times and replaced it with a SRAM p99. No more breaks. The Bontrager pedals that came with it were terrible, replaced with TIME Atac - great move. The Bontrager Jones are exclnt tires, they hook up well on everything I've ridden on - tried other tires when I wore my rear out - went back to Bontrager Jones. The frame is great if you want an aluminum hardtail with some pretty good components - you'll want to upgrade a few but th... Read more

Great bikes for those who want to actually ride off-road. A good value without compromising performance. Also, Trek's icon component group works well, especially for the cost.

Great value. Good components for the price. Responsive and light, but will wear out in a year of racing.

Lightweight bike. Durable and sturdy for off road use. Nice beefy tires and good gear worksmanship.

This is a bike I bought last year. After asking my friends, I decided to buy the Trek bike. I love the bike. It is fun, comfortable, and reliable. I am sure I will keep it for a long time.

This bike is a good 'bang-for-your-buck' mass production bike. It has nice componant specs. It is considerably good climber for a non-butted frameset.

Very reliable. It is cool because you can take the wheel off and lock it to your frame. Nice bike and good handles.
