The only certain thing in the world is change. And, eventually, everything that once declared itself mighty will start its spin down the proverbial commode. But be of good cheer - in about 40 - 50 years anyone reading this today will already be relieved of the burden of having to deal with it.

The remains of the Roman Empire lay on the cobblestoned streets of Italy, where enjoyment of good food and wine are more important than portfolio growth that is outpacing the market index. America isn't going to collapse all at once. It will make a long and slow slide into the family of once great empires that survive on the financial legacy of their heyday and the memory that they once ruled the world.

Well lets go put our fucking heads in the sand and wave the white flag, then.... when did we all become a bunch of pussies? Chicken Little running amok doesn't concern me. All this shit can pass on and the motherfuckers with the will to do so will stand. The world changes. You can't stop it. I'm just gonna do shit like I do and grind it out. I'll fucking make it, even if you other motherfuckers don't.

Seems like it at the moment, but "this too shall pass". As it always does.

Holy shit. Right now, the NYSE is in free-fall (-500 and dropping), gold is over $1700 an ounce, AIG's lawsuit against BoA is probably going to turn it into Bank-rupt America. Italy, Greece, Spain, and Ireland are about to be flushed down the loo, and the President just finished his press speech (45 minutes late, that 18th hole must've been a bitch) telling us that, in his private fantasy land, America will always be Triple AAA, no matter what S&P says, and we can make our deficit magically go away if we just all played nice and worked together (Yeah, right. Check this out: http://www.usdebtclock.org/ ). For the past several years, the decline of the dollar has been good news for corporations, particularly those who do more than 50% of their business overseas, since it increases their profits. However, the economy of the US is starting to implode, and it's going to take everyone else along with them. My guess is Bernanke is going to call for QE3 tomorrow...he simply has no other op... Meh. I've dabbled in eschatology, the end of the world will have a lot more fireworks. Even if (as some reviewers suggest) the sky does fall, I have nothing against moving back to Canada. Australia seems nice to, if you don't mind snakes.

I have to agree with Ralph. The NYSE ended 634 pts down. We're in bigg trouble. We have a G#d damn communist country with an economy growing at 9% a year. We're down around 1%. The fuck is wrong with us???!!!
