How can any of you call Tony Hawk a poser?!?! Can a poser do a 15 foot air and land all the s*** he can pull off? NO!!!!! Can a poser innovate the sport and create over 20 tricks, many of whom are vert staples like the stalefish NO!!!!!! Although I don't agree with some of his corporate deals he's done, he's a damn good skater and he's no poser. Where did any of you possibly get that from? Damn!

He was my hero growing up, I had a Tony Hawk skateboard and had pics of him on my wall. He is the skateboard legend, when he pulled off the 900 McTwist at the X Games that just sealed it.

the guy has laid down the foundation for vertical skateboarding. i really didnt understand the situation till i read his bio and rodney mullens bio. He is so good that yea, the mainstream wants to get apart of it. I will admit tho i hate that nike and adidas are into the skating industry, no offense to gino, paul, and brian. And esp shimizu. Tony Hawk is a great skater....but lately hes become extremely overrated. So overrated, in fact, that you can buy a Tony Hawk board at Target these days for 10 dollars, so most people dont realize the talents of other skaters out there besides ordinary skaters like me. I am not saying that Tony Hawk isnt good, im just sayin that he has become extrememly mainstream lately. I dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing so I'm giving him 4 stars.

Anyone who thinks that Tony Hawk is a poser, is a total poser. This man revolutionized the sport, and anyone who says mean things about him is obviously jealous and wishes that they were innovative. These extreme sports are so stupid and elitist that people think that only the most esoteric and obscure skaters are worth give accolades to. I must say that anyone who rates an athlete based on how obscure they are deserves to die from multiple bee stings.

Tony's only downfall is how <a href="http://www.tonyhawkfoundation.org"& gt;The Hawk Foundation</a> is allied with <a href="http://www.skatewave.com">Skate Wave</a>, a company that makes plastic skate ramps. Plastic is slow and slippery, a lame material to support skateboarding. Don't let Skate Wave install a faulty community facility in your town! The good goodness awaits your visit in Oregon. Don't forget your helmet. Check out <a href="http://www.SkateOregon.com">Skat eOregon</a> to see the future.

Rodney Mullen invented the ollie, kickflip, heelflip, casperslide, primoslide, 360 flips, laser flips, etc. He also changed the deck style from the fishtail shape to the boards we use today. he is truly and undeniably a legend. However, Tony Hawk is also a good skater, but I do not like vert very much so i like Rodney better. If you have ever read Rodney Mullen's profile on Transworld's website, www.skateboarding.com, his "Advice to fellow skateboards" explicitly says... Do what you love and try not to look at what other people occupy themselves with. Most people seem restless and bounce around too much to focus or even pay attention enough to themselves to figure out exactly what they really do love, as opposed to what the people that surround them are doing. Who really cares if you think some skateboarder sucks... why does it matter to you? They do what they like, so if you think they suck don't focus on them, focus on yourself, that's what's really important...

Tony Hawk is WAY over-rated. He's is good at skating and everything but, he isn't as good as people say. In about 5 years if Andrew Reynolds or Geoff Rowley or if half the other young skaters keep skating the will pass up Tony's "skills" by far. And there's NO way you can say he's the "best" skater ever because Rodney Mullen is already better than him!!!

tony hawk invents grabs....rodney mullen invents better ones. Airwalk for insance, watch "Globe Opinion" and you will realise hu is the most influencial, technical + oringinal skater who has lived to date, http://www.geocities.com/raze_knight/SkateboardingM ullenTricks.htm just look at some of the tricks he's invented, HE IS GOD. tony is a publicist, rodney is a skater any REAL skater wil know this

Ok, i will admit, Tony Hawk is a Legend. But you also have to admit that Rodney Mullen sould be the one with the game, not Tony. The only reason Tony was endorsed by neversoft was because of the 900, sure all the tricks he created looked good on his resume but tony hawk's tricks are mostly all grabs, and pipe tricks, and sorry, but pipe tricks don't look as hard to do as street, i can't skate in a pipe, i'm freestyle. But Rodney has one thing tony does not, He has invented most of the tricks we use today, (e.g. Kickflip,Heelflip,Hardflip, and so on) because of this he should be the one with the game, i've watched his video's and watched tony's videos, and BAR NONE rodney's are about 30X more impressive. Yeah Hawk can do 1000s of tricks, but Mullen does tricks that take more hand-eye-foot co ordination, if you want proof, look at the airwalk (mullens invention) and the Judo(Tony's) the airwalk you have to ollie really high grab the nose and the hold it perpendicular to the ground (while ... rodney mullen is fantastic and so is tony, tnt, bucky lasek and many others to name them would just be insane. i would hope that all of you haters out there would just get a life and skate who cares who skates street or vert they just skate because they love it and if they are successful in marketing good for them and there economic futures other wise shut up and get on a board and do your skating research, hawk is the only one who has done the 900. not way, lasek or pappas for that matter. there are other great street and vert tricks out there to see and by the way most vert skaters are excellent street skaters as well like way, and lasek and even hawk. don't hate appreciate. peace....

All the people who have to be freaking morons and diss a legend, go and smell the coffee. Who is the most influential skateboarder... Hmm...could it be...TONY HAWK? And who freaking landed the 900, (and i don't think danny way did; i'm not sure)? Tony Hawk. How in the name of sweet mercy can a guy who is so good, be called a poser. All you critics out there, I don't see you pulling off the 900! And you don't see Mullen crying like a sissy complaining that Hawk gets the attention. I'm a huge fan of Mullen, and I know he wouldn't be like sk8mug. He would actually act like a mature MAN! He wouldn't shove it in Tony's face and call him a poser. So for all you Hawk haters out there, look at what he's done, and maybe your vague and lost minds will comprehend the influence of one of the greatest skaters of all time. (And by the way, sk8mug, not all of us like street skating.)

I THINK THAT SKATERS THAT CALL OTHER SKATERS POSERS ARE MORONS, YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO COMMON DECENCEY TO SHUT UP, SKATING IS ONE THING, BUT CALLING SOMEONE A POSER IS STUPID! A POSER IS SOMEONE WHO TRIES TO BE SOMEONE THEY ARENT, ARE YOU DUMB HE IS A SKATER! THE BEST, HE MAY LOOK CHEESY BUT HE CAN STILL SKATE

Rodney Mullen is better than Tony Hawk. And there are many reasons for this, the inventer of flatland ollie, kickflip, heelflip, kickflip under flip,360 and 540 flip(360 also performed switch),primoflip, casperslide, darkslide, handstandfi nger flip and many many more. He was at the young age of 13 when he turned pro, holds the worlds highest olle 44.5 inches,(above waist height),won the freestyle comp 35 times, and last of all the best and most original, unique skater in the world.

Tony Hawk is a very talented skateboarder but no one can add up to the skill that Rodney Mullen has reached. Tony Hawk may be the best skater on vert and has done and invented many tricks, but thats on vert. Real skating is street skating, nothing is set up, you go out there and make up a line. Rodney Mullen is the best street skater, ever. He has won the World Freestyle Championship 35 times over, and had only lost 1 competition and in that competition he came in 2nd place. Rodney Mullen turned pro when he was 13, only 3 years after he got his very first skateboard. How long did it take Tony Hawk? Rodney Mullen has invented a number of tricks including, the darkslide-kickflip-heelflip-540shove its-impossibles-one foot ollies and a number of other tricks. Someone said that Tony Hawk is the only person to do the 900, well thats a lie because Bucky Lasic, however you spell his name, landed it too. Now, this isn't to say that Tony Hawk isn't a good skater, he is but you guys and girls need... Read more

Tony Hawk is a Poser, there are tons of kids out there that can land a 900, besides he is in it for te money not cuz he lovesit. granted he is good but all he can do is vert, he is flat, Rodney Mullen has created more tricksthanhim, not to mention he is the Godfather of Sk8in and he went pro in 3 years. He is was and always will be the best sk8er ever!!!

Some may call the Birdman a sellout, but I think his efforts to bring skating to the mainstream have gotten tons of kids involved in the sport, and that's great for skateboarding. He is very one-dimensional, but an excellent vert skater. He may have pulled the 900 in the X-Games, but I heard that Danny Way was attempting and landing 900s in the early 1990's. Danny Way is probably the best vert skater ever, but Tony Hawk ranks a close second. It's true that Tony Hawk should be in Rodney Mullen's game instead of the other way around, but he is the sport's best ambassador.

he's extreme! I love his moves and the tony hawk pro-sk8er game is cool. he he. I really don't have much to say for tony, but he is a cool sk8er and he had to take years to get that good. I wish I can sk8 like him I always hear little kids that like sk8ing that "they wanna be just like tony!" and that just makes me laugh. tony is a good guy too and he's cool all around. I think he's cool!!!

Tony Hawk is so awesome! Whoever thinks Tony Hawk is a poser (*cough* sk8mug *cough*) should look at his long, LONG list of tricks he has invented and hard tricks he has pulled off. Not to mention the infamous 900. Yeah, maybe a lot of people do them now, but before Tony did it (the ONLY personn to do it in front of a crowd at a major event like the X-Games) nobody really wanted to. I don't see anybody else attempting the 900...Tony Hawk literally is the best skater in the world. Period.

    Tue Mar 20 2001

I think Tony Hawk is the worst sk8er ever to live. He is a poser. If you wanna see someone sk8 look at Rodney Mullen. He was and still is the inovator of the sport. Most people know Rodney as the creater of the Casper slide but his real accomplishment is when he invented the kickflip. If you think Tony Hawk helped the sport by doing the 900 I don't think so! It's cool and all but how many people go out and do a 900 every day. Then look at Rodney's simple trick, the kickflip, that people do constantly and half the tricks done today origanated from the kickflip. Just think about it and post what you think. I feel that Tony Hawk is good but he isn't what everybody thinks he is. Also I would like to send out some props to you sk8ers out there doing the casper and stuff like that. Y'all rule! peace ;)
