Tom Hanks

I'm not really too keen on this guy, mainly because to me he seems to be stuck playing the one role of a moron or misunderstood dumb guy in the movies he's been since Forest Gump, I liked him in Splash though.

He has a weird mix of really good and really bad movies under his belt, but overall I'd consider him one of the best actors of the current generation. Unlike so many of his compatriots, he seems to be a classy guy as well.

Tom's acting is pretty good-but he seems to have lost some of the audience capitavation thru the years---I can take or leave him!!

Average, but only just. Has some fine performances in his resume, but far more than his share of dogs. At times, the guy shows less judgement in script selection than Robert De Niro (who, if comparing best effort to best effort, is at least four times the actor this guy is) In far too many movies, he's just a variant on the same familiar character. And don't get me started on that revolting hackwork Forrest Gump....

For some reason, I thought his best gig was his portrayal of Uncle Ned on 'Family Ties.'

He is an amazing actor.

I like the guy. I think he's highly capable, but this list covers a huge range of talents and Tom isn't upper echelon at any one thing, and he damn sure isn't the chameleon that some actors on this list are.

Don't have anything bad to say about this guy. He is not a GOOD actor, but rather a GREAT one.

I love all of tom hank's moives. He has a unique voice that I am drawn too. I love sleepless in seattle and the movie big. Also I was surprised at how handsome he was in Turner N Hooch showing his sexy butt ;)

A great actor. He is very funny and he's also very good at playing serious roles like in Philadelphia. I enjoyed seeing him in Big, Splash, and Bachelor Party. He even guest starred in an episode of Tales from the Crypt. I give Hanks a 5 star rating.

5 stars One of the greatest actors of all time. Really liked his performances in Cast Away, Big, Forrest Gump. Amazed with his performance as an Aids patient in Philadelphia.

I have been a big fan of Tom Hanks ever since i saw "Turner and Hooch" in the cinema, as a teen. He has a presence on screen that is hard to define. Also, he is both personable on and off screen, which is a rare quality these days. Don't stop making movies, Tom!

Tom Hanks. You just have to love him. I don't think of Tom Hanks when I think of Forrest Gump. I think of Forrest Gump. Hanks did such an unbelievable job of transforming into that character, he became two different people to me. He is versatile. He has such a unique look and voice. I enjoy anything with him in it simply because its him.

Very credible, but I don't count him among my favorites.

Really enjoy his films; favourites include Castaway, Saving Private Ryan, and Forest Gump. He's one of those actor's who can easily switch between serious roles and comedy without effort.

good actor in the right roles

He has surpassed everyone's expectations if you look back at his early comedies. Two decades ago I thought Tom Hanks, Michael Keaton and Bill Murray were interchangeable stars making the same types of movies. I would have assumed that Michael Keaton would be the one with the staying power, Bill Murray would have a short lucrative run blockbuster screw-ball comedies and Tom Hanks would be a foot note, or an answer to question in an 80's trivia game. Goes to show what I know.

Some good roles, but just doesn't do it for me as an actor... right up there with Billy Crystal for actors I wouldn't go to the movies for but would perhaps stop flipping the remote control for a bit if I was suffering a hangover- okay, some good roles in some good movies.. Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan.. I can't explain it.. something 'snivelly' about him.

forest gump is the only movie I like with him.

Been a while since he came out with anything good,  but he does have GOOD range!  An outstanding actor weather it be drama/comedy/action.

From Bosom Buddies to an Oscar?

This guy has done some of the greatest films i've seen

Well i had really disliked him until about a week ago, i finally watched Forrest Gump and there is no way i can give him a 1 after that.

Another one that started in TV and went on to do great things. Not a day goes by almost that some quote from Forrest Gump doesn't pop up...and he was phenomenal in Philadelphia. And that is just the beginning.

How can you not love this guy.  He is so "wholesome" that you can't help but cheer for him.  He has had some great roles that, by his hand, turned to amazing characters.

This is my top 5 favorite actors. He is only one of a kind. He's brilliant at his work. Inluding his comedy and his acting of course.

All-around great guy!
