We've had cable, internet and phone bundled with Time Warner for 3 years. We've had outages lasting days at a time, and no credit for services not received. Technicians are all very nice, they all admit there is a problem, they all provide a temporary fix for it, then it happens again, and again, and again. Due to a recent custoemr service nightmare, we are leaving this company. I would advise anyone looking at Time Warner as a service provider to understand that customers are an inconvenience to them. You will be treated awesomely upon enrolling, then you'll be treated like something they can't get off the bottom of their shoes. They've far surpassed the terrible reputation they already had. Good luck!

They have not been in the phone game long enough to provide good service. I had to cancel their phone service because my land line phone was down a third of the time. Back to Verizon I went and what a world of (good) difference in services. Verizon wins hands down!

TWC is so annoying!!! Do you want cable? Ok, well here is what will happen if you try to get it from Time Warner. Have you ever been to a swap meet or a flea market or to Mexico where they try to sell you stuff and bargain and hassle with you endlessly until you eventually give in? Well that is what it is like dealing with these people. Its like the sales people have all of these sneaky techniques to confuse you while they pretend like they are helping you at the same time, just to screw you. Its sooo disgusting! Fortunately, I have learned to see through all the lies and sales pitches but I know there are many out there who have fallen into their web of deception (including me). What I don't understand is how a company can just pick a price out of thin air to sell you their products. If I call and want to sign up for new service, they tell me the price and I sign up. But wait! We can give you a lower rate if you sign up for 2 yrs or even lower for 3! Or if you want phone, ... Read more

Our experience with Time Warner has been horrible. To begin with, their service was not good. We had the home bundle with internet, cable and phone. The internet was extremely slow in the evenings (we had the highest speed available); the cable frequently went out or stopped working; DVR would not record correctly. We felt like the cost was high for the product, yet they were the only service available in our area--felt like they were taking advantage of the fact that they had no competition. We were signed up for paperless billing, yet never received a bill. What we did receive were nasty emails telling us our account was past due. After a few months of this, we signed up for auto withdrawal, thinking that the mean emails would stop. However, the payment would only occasionally come out, and we still received the nasty past-due emails. At the end of November, we received a phone call stating that our bill was 2 months past due. I checked our account and noticed that a payment of $3... Read more

They sold me on getting locked into a sweet (or so I thought) 3yr. deal with Cable, Internet, Home Phone. Everything was fine minus a few tolerable situations when I could not access the Movies on Demand. As soon as I added my wireless Internet for my Laptop it was downhill from there. My phone service is more down than up on any given day. I had no phone at Christmas and for two days after. I ran up my minutes on my pay by the minute ( those minutes are expensive) Trac phone. I am a senior on a fixed income. I started off trying to save money by combing the 3 services but it has cost me more in the long run in aggravation, missed calls and friends with important information, who thought I had changed my number. To top it all I had to deal with a snotty employee that acted like she owns the company who offered me ten dollars for my inconvenience.

When we received our December bill (11/23-12/22) we were shocked to find out that our bill went from about $123 per month to $196! Without any additions or increases in service. In fact, I believe there was a decrease in the number of channels available, and intermittent unavailability of HD channels. We just hung up the phone with a rep, who informed us that our “promotion” had ended, which is why we were seeing the increase. I can understand that, but an increase of over $70? As businesspeople ourselves, and as consultants to business, we believe that to offer $99 Triple Play packages to entice new customers, and totally give the boot to customers who might want to stay loyal to Time Warner is a most counterproductive strategy. TW should do everything it can to retain customers, instead of losing us to other vendors or for that matter driving us to other cable-less options. Every book on business, all the top consultants say the same thing: "Keeping Customer is cheaper than ge... Read more

We had Time Warner for 6 months, and in those 6 months we had to place over 40 tech calls. We never had a month of services working right. Our last tech call we were told by a supervisior that they would credit us and fix the problem. A week later we were shut off at the pole, when we called we found out that the supervisior that told us they would credit us put in the computer that we wouldn't get any more credits so they took us out of the system as an active customer. The next day after that they showed up at our house to get all the equipment. So I guess this is how they fix a problem, by deleting it so they don't have to deal with us anymore

The only reliable thing you can expect from Time Warner Cable is that they will promptly bill you and collect your money on a monthly basis. Aside from that, their ability to provide reliable service and prompt customer service is terrible. Last month, my internet access was not working. It took 4 days before they could send a technician to my place. When I questioned why it would take so long, they explained that I was “lucky” to get a tech so soon. This past weekend, my entire neighborhood (on the upper east side) lost phone and internet access. Many people were also without cable. The service went down at 11AM on Friday, as of Monday it is still not fixed. When I called to speak to a superior to ask why it was taking so long she said I was ‘lucky so far’ as some of their outages can last over 2 weeks. She actually had the nerve to boast about how long their outages last as though it were a good thing. While I was repeatedly told that this was an issue that they were wor... Read more

I live in L.A. and recently my girlfriend and I moved from Sycamore Avenue, 3 miles up the road to Fairfax Ave. We rent a small one bedroom unit. When changing our Time Warner Cable and Internet Service(which we had been subscribing to for the past 2 years) the customer service rep suggested we close out the old subscription and start a new service because it would be cheaper than a transfer. We said sure, who would not want to save a buck or two in this economy. They said to have the old cable box ready as well as 100.00 dollars and they would mail us the old bill which was around 100.00 to the new apartment. The cable was installed on a Thursday. On Monday, we got home from work and noticed the service was interrupted. We called customer service and spoke with a very rude uncaring agent who said they had sent our old bill to their internal collections and that our new service would not be turned back on until we called the collections department and paid the debt in full. We were ver... Read more

after 1 hour and 6 minutes on hold waiting to figure out why my bill has randomly doubled i figured i should share my comments with the world --- possibly the worst service ever. avoid at all costs. if i didn't have to have TWC in my building as my cable provider there is no way i would use the over priced service. in the past i have had RCN and was happy. i also had verizon for my phone and internet and was equally as happy. i spend more time on the phone (hold) with TWC. they came to install my phone and i ended up with fewer working jax than i originally had, my cable box freezes on a weekly basis and i have to unplug and replug my router routinely to get the internet to work. all for 2x as much as i originally agreed to pay. and i conveniently need to sit on hold for over an hour to work this out --- last time i was told i needed to call back to speak to a specific manager who apparently is never at work since every time i called she wasn't there. not sure how they intend to... TWC is Garbage! I called them today because i was recieving my mail late due to post office issues so i tried to explain that to them so they can remove the 7 dollar late fee. Aparently the bill i recieved this week was incorrect my usual bill is 130 a month they stated i owed 295!!!!! three service reps could not explain why i owed 295! so they transfered me to there sales Manager who WAS COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL AND SNOTTY!! she tried to give me this BULL Crap story that i owed money from past unpaid bills!!! funny thing is i spoke to a rep last month due to an upgrade change and she stated my bills were up to date!!! so where are these charges coming from ??????? do yourself favor and stay away from TIME WARNER CABLE The service is horrible, they lie, are rude and RIP YOU OFF !!

OMG i lovers Time Warner Cable i would give it 10.0. I AM F'ING KIDDING they are horrible. I move into my first apartment with my husband we called them 2 weeks before we moved in to set up a date they could not get to us until 4 weeks after we moved in there started the lovely relationship we will now know with time Warner. we finally get the services set up and we start to get a pink line through our TV. A guy comes for less than 10 min and says it was our TV (which was less than a month old at that time) and we thought that was a crock and a half. we call someone else in and he tells us that the DVR cords were bad and the guy before that should have tested them and fixed the problem then. a few weeks later a sales man from time Warner comes to are door telling us that we can get phone, Internet, and cable for 99.99 for 2 years with a 2 yr contract so we thought GREAT that's about 10 less than what we are paying now. we get our first bill and were outraged its was $160 and some cha... I've had problems with this company over and over. Their customer service operators have NO manners, are impatient, and provide NO help whatsoever. I cannot understand why a company would hire such incompetent operators. I've also had problems with the men they have sent to fix my cable. I've even had to ask one to leave before he finished his service! I do not recommend this company to anyone, the prices are nonnegotiable in addition to very rude staff.

1 stars This is the worst cable company I have ever dealt with. We moved to NC from NY due to the military and up in NY we had Cablevision (who was wonderful!) Ever since we moved to NC, Time Warner has been nothing but a headache and unfortunately they are the only cable company that ha service in the base housing that we are in. Cablevision offered us a triple play (phone, Internet & cable) for $100 for the first year & that was up in NY where everything is way more expensive. Down in NC, Time Warner offered us the same services for $160 & claimed that it was a discounted price. Since we got them, we have had so many problems with the service. TV shows cut out constantly so we miss all of our favorite shows & when you call about it, they have the absolute worst customer service EVER! I have worked in customer service & i would never treat a customer like they have! They are terrible!!!!

I had TWC service for 2 years. It was hands down the worst service ever. The TV came and went sometimes being down for days. The internet was SLOW. The kicker was when my telephone service went out for over a month. No notice, I wasn't late on a bill and no message to tell people that it wasn't working. TWC didn't even know until I called them. I had a dial tone but no calls could reach me. I lost a great job opportunity, was foreclosed, lost my house all because no one could call me. When I found out and called them (from a cell phone) they said opps too bad and turned me over to collection. DO NOT GET Time Warner Cable.

I saw ad on tv for phone service at $20 so I decided to sign up. They said I would be under a 2 year contract, but I agreed. Got thinking about it and next day called and cancelled installation. Two days later got a call asking why I cancelled. Told them I did not like 2 year contract. Said they would not obligate me if I signed up and said they would give me free phone service for a year and upgrade my cable with A FREE DVR. I said ok. Installer came to my home a week later. He was here all afternoon and apparently not too capable. Could not find telephone line coming in. He finally tied into a line in my garage, but instead of hiding line went thru the door frame. He tracked mud throughout my home and never picked up the trash after him. Had trouble from day one with static on the line. The line was fine during the day but when 4pm came static became so bad you could not carry on a conversation. They sent representatives to my home on 5 different occasions to fix problem... There is 0 customer service points for Time Warner. The only thing that saved me was that I know someone who works there who came through for me. The company is awful! I had an install scheduled, the guy parked outside, walked around looking for the unit, never came to the door, and left. I got a call saying that my appointment was missed because I didn't answer the door. I called them 10 times. He never came to the door, and I have to reschedule to a week from now. They said there's nothing that they can do, and it's their policy that the workers have to at least knock. I was 6 feet away from my door all morning! He never knocked! I talked to a manager and she said there was nothing that they can do! This will be the only time Time Warner gets my service!

My complaints are older ones. When Time Warner acquired the local cable company things went down hill fast. After a major storm I had my cable line snagged and torn off my house. After calling and getting repair appointments twice they still never showed up. They then claimed that since it was a major storm, they were too busy. Then they said that with the pole/tree damage they couldn't work on the line (no trees or line damage on my street my cable line was crossed by a neighbors phone line and a passing truck snagged their line and damaged my line). After thirteen days with no repair trucks in the area (I drove around and looked) an independent contractor for Time Warner showed up and ran a new line. However, they never checked with my wife because the cable was still out. After another call to their office they stated they didn't know who reconnected my cable or when someone could show up. After a lot of complaining they sent a repairman (in a Time Warner truck) the next day. I ca... Read more

First, as with everyone else who has TWC problems, I have no other choice - they seem to have the monopoly in my area. Second, years ago when we had ANALOG, we had little to no problem. But now, since we were FORCED to go with DIGITAL I can't tell you the numerous problems I've encountered with my cable box, customer service, billing, etc. My cable box either freezes, scrambles, or disconnects altogether, at which point I have to call customer service, go through the whole damn explanation, only for them to tell me I have to pull out the plugs from the cable boxes (which sometimes isn't easy if the box is in a wall unit!) and wait for them to send a signal - which in total usually takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes of MY time for THEIR damn problem! I believe if you are going to FORCE people to accept service they do not want (i.e., DIGITAL as opposed to ANALOG) then maybe, just MAYBE you should perfect the friggin service first! Ever since the 'change over', I have probably had to... Read more

I have had other cable, DVR and internet providers and by far Time Warner is the absolute worse. The cable and internet are OK, but my main complaint is with the DVR. When you use the rewind or fast forward feature it often doesn't work. There have been many times when I am using it and it will completely fast forward through the whole program. It is really frustrating. Furthermore, the whole box will just freeze and not allow you to record programs. Compared to other providers that I have used, it is not set as user friendly. I know that these things aren't the most important to be worrying about, but I am paying way to much for the service that I am being provided. Overall I would strongly suggest against using Time Warner as your provider.

I had time warner cable internet service in Morrisville, NC for around 4 years. Almost each time I check my speed, it is half of the speed what I am paying for. Each time, I called them, they are only interested to sell more. Just recently, I called them to downgrade my service, wait time in that department is very high. First time, I talked with a representative and he asked to hold on after getting initial information. I was expecting couple of minute of hold, but I was holding it for a 15 minutes. Most ridiculous part of all was they had music going and in between there were some Spanish instruction. I think, since I asked them to downgrade my service, they were playing around. They might be thinking, eventually, half of the customer ended up hanging a phone. If, I would never recommend to go with TWC to anyone.

I always have thought that Time Warner cable was a ripoff. I was on their On Demand channel, accidentally hit a movie buy button then tried to cancel it quickly but the damn thing began to play the freaking movie so quickly, or the button wasn't working . They do not even give you a frozen screen to double confirm the purchase, they just rush this damn movie on-what a freaking ripoff. Also, it's almost impossible to get a customer service rep over the phone, it some computerized thing. You should be able to get a service rep on the phone so you can bitch at them about this. We are getting this damn service removed and getting just the basic cable its just a damn rippoff letting Time Warner sucker you into paying for crap by mistake. At least Direct TV makes it harder to buy this kinda stuff-you need a frozen screen to confirm these purchases not an auto buy button that's too hard to cancel! I complained to the Better Business Bureau about this! I might just try to contact their corpora... Read more

I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and I hate Time Warner Cable with a passion. Back in October 2008, my bill was $54.83 for the standard tier. I just got my bill for November 2009 and it jumped up to $65.48. There was an $11 increase in my bill in one year. Of course, there is no justification for this increase. No new channels or new service. Same tier. In fact, they've taken away 3 channels I use to watch-ESPN Classic, a PBS station, and Discovery Health. They don't even have all of our local stations on the lineup. There wasn't even a notification in my bill stating that the rates would increase. This is poor service all the way around. Also, the picture quality is very poor on the eastside of Cincinnati. I thought Ohio passed a law to allow more companies to come in and offer cable service. Gee, I wonder if Time Warner bought those companies out or paid the lawmakers to amend the law so it was in their favor? It's mighty funny-Time Warner is still the only cable company in Cincinnati,... Read more

We pay WAY too much for what we get! The HD channels intermittently don't work. Half the time when we record shows on HD channels, they don't record, since the HD channel was not working at that time. When we go to watch recorded shows, sometimes, the DVR functionality stops working (no fast-forward, pause, etc.) We often have to re-boot the boxes when they lock up or stop working. When we have paused a show and are catching up to live, sometimes, the show will automatically skip to live TV - which especially sucks when you're in the 3rd quarter of the game, and "live" takes you to the post-game! When we wanted to add cable lines in 2 additional rooms, we were instructed to set up an appointment with a technician. We set the appointment up, and on 3 occasions, the technician did not call when they were 15 minutes away, as is their policy. On 3 occasions, we received a phone call that nobody was home, and the technician was leaving, and we'd have to reschedule. On the 4th try, ... Read more

Be sure to go in to an actual retail store. Time Warner Cable will NOT hold themselves accountable for any verbal agreements. In time the customer will find that they are nickeled and dimed paying far more than agreed upon at the time of installation. I am currently being charged for a remote control, a converter for DVR and a DVR service on the fourth month that was supposed to be free from a year. The bill has gone form 85 to 105 in four months. Other services may have some draw-backs, but I assure you that, as a consumer, you will receive much better service elsewhere.

Time Warner did not let me down as far as expectations go. They provided terrible customer service, incorrect information leading up to service call, and worst of all, they did not do the work (simple instructions here) correctly. In advance of a simple service call, in which they were to have their contractors come bury some cable, I placed two calls to their appointments dept. to make sure that the contractors had the correct information on their work order so my newly planted yard would not get destroyed. The woman from TWC I spoke with not only ensured me that the notes would be on the order, but also spoke with one of HER managers who told her that a technician would definitely be call me 30 min. prior to arrival. I figured, there is no way this could go wrong, right? This was last night that I spoke with TWC the last time. I came home today to find out that they had buried the line right across the back yard and made a mess of the yard. I called TWC and spoke with a mana... Read more

So I move into a new apartment two weeks ago. The cable guy comes to install it only to see that the line is broken and a new one must be put in. I was suppose to be contacted when that was done so I could have the cable guy back to actually install the cable and internet. No one ever called me. I have called the time warner customer service line at least 20 times in the past week and still have no results. I was simply past from one person to the next with every person I spoke with telling me they would call me back. Of course, no one ever did. I have never dealt with a company so unorganized and unable to do the simplest tasks. I love my apartment but I cannot wait to move out next year so I can find somewhere that does not make me use time warner. Oh and that's not to mention the ridiculously high prices they have. That is an entirely different issue. I wish I could give them a 0 star rating

Time Warner Cable has consistently been the worst company I have ever worked with. They have a monopoly in my town and I have no choice but to work with them. All I can do is warn you that if you can avoid this company DO IT! The DVR I pay for monthly is randomly erasing my recorded programs and when I called to talk to them I was told it will take them an entire month before they can come and fix it. Not only is that annoying it just shows how often their equipment fails. The only other way to take care of it is to disconnect it, take it in myself to exchange it and reconnect the new box, but their office hours are my work hours so I'm basically shit outta luck. After they told me it was going to take a month to have a technician come over and fix it I told them they were ridiculous and they hung-up on me. Good job time warner. 80-some comments and they rate lower than 'bad'. That is just sad...

I've used Time Warner Internet and phone service for over 1 year in San Diego. Those worked OK - no big problem. However, when it comes to disconnecting the service, I was surprised that there is no way that they would automatically inform the future callers that I have switched to a new company (or even a new number from the same company)! I had used so many utility phone services companies before and all had such a basic service. So anybody who uses phone for serious friendship or home business, NEVER USE TIME WARNER - or your friends or customers will just think you are dead or bankrupt after you move. Also, if you try their only listed tech support 1888 number, it never brings you to anywhere - I had thought that this company was closed before I finally found a local phone for their tech support. I think they are getting close to closing.

I used to have only a cable Internet service from Time Warner Cable, and it was Ok. Intermittent problems are not as noticable when you only use Internet. Now I "upgraded" to full bundle TV + Internet + Telephone, and during the 6 weeks period since the upgrade I have lost phone signal at least 4 times (together with Internet connection of course). It is scary because telephone need to be always On for emrgencies. The Time Warner Cable customer sevice representative name Tom stated literally that they can do nothing about intermittent problems. They keep sending a "technician" ( a high school dropout) who simply replaces the modem and does not even know what you are talking about when you start discussing signal levels etc. This is UNACCEPTABLE for cable provider. I am going back to old good copper wired phone with AT&T - then I have a back up option with dial-up Internet if the cable internet is down again.

By far, the WORST cable company I have EVER encountered. (Only wish Verizon was available in my area.) Our phone service has been out more than enough times. Each time I'm told to disconnect the modem for one minute - plug it back in, all to no avail. The next predictable response is, "Let me check when we can send out a technician." This usually takes 2-3 days. Anyone having the opportunity to have another company service their cable needs, for your own sake, please do. You'll appreciate what you DON'T have to go through. I won't even go into the overbilling!

    Thu Aug 13 2009

TimeWarnerCable, RoadRunner, local office and 'the office of the president' has an internal policy of 'accidentally' over-billing. Notice you have NEVER been underbilled. They limit the amount of billing adjustments for their 'accidents' when you catch them. They put NOTHING in writing. No one has the authority to make deals. They lie, defraud, steal, abuse... and when you refuse to pay the extortion amount, cancel service, and switch to FIOS they turn over your account to collection without making any reasonable attempt at reconciliation "She did not have the authority to make that modification to your account" .. how convenient for them. Even their fixes hold no weight. Calls on speakerphone with area managers offering verbal contracts MUST be witnessed by non-family members and RECORDED despite whatever the law is. Be sure to state your "I am recording this call for honesty assurance" while their automated system announces call recording... giving them the 'same' opport... Read more

I work from home so I use the internet every day. Almost daily the internet goes out for anywhere between 10 and 90 minutes. I have had 3 different technicians out here and they cannot seem to solve the problem. They've given new modems, we've purchased a new router, & they had us re-wire everything twice. Now they are saying the problem is the outside wires. They are horribly backed up because lots of people have problems with their service. You have to wait 3 weeks to get an appointment. Sometimes they will call you before your scheduled service date because of other cancellations and they will try to come spur of the moment. Sounds good, right? Well, that happened to us...we had an appointment for today (August 10) scheduled but they called us on the 4th and tried to come that day. We said yes, PLEASE and they said a tech would come between 4-6pm so we postponed our dinner plans to wait for the tech and he never showed up. He called at 7:15 and said he was on his way and we had to... Read more

I personally am giving Time Warner Cable a -2 in my opinion. I have had an account with them for a while now and originally moved somewhere that they can't service. So anyways, when I move I set up an appointment to get someone out to hook up my service at my new house and when I was doing this the stupid Time Warner people didn't pay attention to the red flag on the address say "Can't service that house". I guess three other renters at this house had tried before but couldn't because my house is 700 ft from the box and they only go as far as 350 ft. Okay good to know and would of been nice when I originally called to set up the appointment and take time out of my day from work with no pay. Nice...thanks stupid time warner. So then I called after that to make sure what my credits will be back to me since I had to interrupt my contract because THEY couldn't service my house. And I get $134 something for credit. Okay nice makes since and look online and it says the same thing. So then to... Read more

1 star is too many for these guys. The worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with, hands down. They double billed me for a year, constantly reversing charges, putting partial charges on the bill, etc., and basically told me that it couldn't be fixed. I wound up having to cancel a credit card to get them to stop double billing me. Every time I would speak with customer service I would be told that someone would contact me within a few days - surprise, surprise - no one ever called back. Then when I moved apartments recently, the service worked at first, then got shut off. They told me that since a technician hadn't been to my apartment, they couldn't turn on the service. When I asked them why, their response was a (extremely annoyed) "we just don't do that. You need to wait a few weeks until we turn it on for you." Their incompetence is exceeded only by their rudeness. Numerous times I was hung up on after asking to be transferred to a supervisor, or told that ... Read more

Time Warner is cheating all of it's subscribers from the coverage it promises when you sign up. They are screwing us during the height of the election season and shirking their fiduciary duties. And they don't care. Ca-ching, Ca-ching, gotcha focused capitalism. I wish I didn't have six T.V.s and internet to deal with because otherwise I would have signed off long ago. I have tried contacting them at least four times in the past three weeks but they don't respond because they don't care. Fool me once.....

I won't ever use Time Warner again. The day the installer was supposed to show up, I left early from work. He never showed up. I called to see where he was, was put on hold, then was told by the dispatcher that he tried to call twice. He didn't. The next day, I left early again from work. The installer, a subcontractor, was an hour late. Then he couldn't get my router to work. After almost two hours, he gave up and vowed to come back the next day. The next day he spent 2 hours trying to fix the problem to no avail. He left to go pick up some more routers and suggested I call to complain. I did and asked how I could guarantee that my service would be working after the next visit (this was after being on hold for 20 minutes). I was told that they couldn't control the subcontractors. When the guy showed up again, he worked for another hour before giving up. I told him to just take everything with him and I'd get a refund. I was tired of it and I'd just wasted my Saturday. Monday, ... Read more

I actually had a good customer service experience with Time Warner. DeeDee answered my call about getting a wireless router installed (since the technician hadn't done that). She was quite helpful AND saved me a bit of money - said to go to Best Buy or Circuit City and pick one up, hence a one time purchase fee as opposed to a recurring fee from Time Warner. Thanks DeeDee! Now to see how the cable and such pan out...
