One of the most overrated videos of all time. Adding horror movie effects to a video for a mediocre song is hardly "cutting edge". It is, however, proof that if you wrap a bad or so-so song up in interesting imagery there will be plenty of suckers out there to buy it. The videos to "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" were much better than this over the top dreck.

This video is the nexus to all modern music videos and today's Video choreography. Cutting edge is the word.

Greatest video ever made. I remember when I was a child me and my cousins would wake up on Halloween and call each other to see who found Thriller player on MTV first. Michael Jackson is probably the greatest musician to ever live. His music played a huge part in my life and his music changed everything. The world will be lost without him. Rest in peace my dear Michael. You will live on in my heart forever. I love you.

Michael Jackson remains one of the first pioneers of short-film music videos. Considering the issues tha continue to surround him, music remains an area that he can continue to excel in.  It is impossible to strip Michael Jackson of the contributions he made to MTV and the other music video outlets.  MTV continues to make money off of him even though in the beginning the were reluctant to play his videos, this changed when the realized the money potential.  MTV owes Michael Jackson BIG TIME!!!

It's hard for me to admit now-a-days but back in the '80s, like a lot of other people I also thought that Michael Jackson was really cool and to an extent I even (*gulp*) idolized him. Although he's become too eccentric of a person for my tastes...and dresses to effeminately as well, I've always listened to music just for the sake of music and still do (not because I like or dislike a musician based on their personality, lifestyle, or sexual preference). That being said, I still think that Thriller is one of the greatest albums of all time, whether it had ended up being a total commercial disaster or whether it went multi-platinum. It's easily whacko-Jacko's best album (significantly better than "Off The Wall"), there are very few mediocre songs (much less filler) and the entire album, even today, is very grooving and fresh. A great combination of funk, R&B;, and pop, Thriller is not dated and still a great album.

Overlooking all of MJ's problems, this is one of the best videos ever made and the song is also very good.

Michael Jackson's SECOND best album (Off the Wall is better). Best selling album of all time. Revolutionized music. 7 out of the 10 songs on the album were in the billboard top 10. And the videos were just as good. Personally, I think PYT, Beat It, and Billie Jean are the best songs on the album.

I might have at one time thought this video was the best ever done, and I try to separate the people from their art, I have a hard time accepting anything from this man.SORRY

Jackson's superb dancing maneuvers in concert with a gaggle of zombies was undeniably entertaining. Vincent Price certainly added some amusing commentary as well. My favorite part would be near the beginning when Michael tells his girlfriend I'm not like other guys.... Truer words were never spoken!

A great example of life imitating art. Jackson is quickly becoming one of the ghoulish zombies shown in this video. What body part will fall off next?

Good, but overrated. There are better music videos than this. I gave this a one to drop its rating.

Made in 1983, 22 years later it's still clearly the greatest video of all time. I remember when MTV used to do their Top 100 or Top 500 videos of all time countdowns and this was #1 almost every time until they made a few other videos #1, obviously only to make the countdown more interesting and less predictable. But in reality they knew Thriller was the best.

Although I am not a fan of Jackson or his music this video deserves credit for innovation and raising the mark. It was almost a mini movie and gave other video makers the green light to be innovative and use their imagination. This was Jackson at his best; The music was good, the video was excellent and Jackson still looked like a normal human being, not counting the makeup done for the video. It's a shame that some of todays videos have taken innovation and turned it into trash because while not every video can be what Thriller was, it was something that bands and video producers could look up to and shoot for. Somewhere along the way the music industry lost sight of what made the Thriller video great and along the way we also lost Michael Jackson.

This album was very good at the time it was released. The songs were basically written to showcase the videos. Think about it...everytime you have heard the song Thriller, you had to think about the video at the same time. Same for Billie Jean, same for Beat It. Nothing wrong with that. But I don't think the songs by themselves could have done as well without the videos. Now that should be true for everyone but actually it's not. How well did some of Stevie Wonder's classics (Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life-album of the year, which he actually won 5 grammys for-without videos, mind you, etc.) do without videos? Answer: excellently! On the pop charts as well as R & B charts. Michael is no Stevie but he an amazing performer to watch as well as listen to (well, back in the day that is). Thriller gets an OK-3 stars just because the songs are a tad forgettable without the videos to accompany them.

I Love Michael Joseph Jackson soooooo much. He is a living unlegend I couldn't image going a day without thinking about him or listening to his music and watching his videos. He is the most talented person, dancer, singer, song writer in the world. He created music videos, and Thriller was breathtaking, he is the most well known person all around the world and fans love him like crazy, like me! The dancing, outfits, plots of all the videos of his are amazing, and Thriller is so great and long!! I love Michael Jackson always and Forever!

This is my #1 favorite Album of alltime! Michael is still the king of pop in spite of what has been happening to him in court. This album will never be topped by anyone else, that is how great and how awsome this album is. Who could ever forget the great BEAT IT, how woudl Thriller be great without BILLIE JEAN. It was the right time and a great moment for Michael Jackson.

I personally think Michael Jackson is a weirdo, but you have to like Thriller, it's a good storyline and decent music. Think what you will about Michael's life, but man, this guy can dance!

Too long, too silly, just plain too "too". In other words, perfect for its time and its star. The fact that I don't like the song aside, the religious disclaimer at the beginning just annoyed a star off of it.

Set the standard for the cinematic/story-video. Problem is that the music video is no longer the novelty it was at the time; there will likely be little effort to duplicate such an over-the-top effort in the years to come. Still a fun nine minutes, and Vincent Price is the icing on the cake.

Who am I to argue with the 47 million people who bought this album and made it the best-selling album of all time? Some of the songs still hold up will today, from a nostalgic point of few. Some of them were annoying in the first place. But its a classic, plain and simple, so it gets four stars.

What short memories people have. I know his personal life is a whole different can or worms, but this album stands as the flagstone for eighties pop music. With Quincy Jones at the producing chair, Michael Jackson turns in one great performance after another. Beat It, Billie Jean, The Girl Is Mine, Human Nature, 7 top ten singles off an album that just had nine songs in the first place. That, at the time, was unheard of. This thing sold over 40 million worldwide and is the best selling album of all time.

Thriller defined a whole new era of video making. Back when music video's were consisted of watching bands play on an empty stage, Thriller gave us a creepy storyline mixed with great dancing. Whenever I have doubts to as to why I liked Michael Jackson I just refer back to his old stuff and it brings up some great memories. Had he died before the 90's hit people would have worshipped him like they do Elvis.
