Wed Dec 23 2009A ceasefire has been declared on the heels Operation Desert Storm, but a map is discovered and leads three American soldiers (Clooney, Wahlberg, and Ice Cube) on an unsanctioned quest for millions of dollars' worth of Kuwaiti gold bullion, stolen and held by Saddam's Republican Guard in a heavily protected bunker far from base camp. Somewhat predictably, what was intended to be a minor (but highly profitable) detour turns into a hair-raising and deadly expedition. In their quest for the gold, the soldiers witness some horrendous crimes against humanity and render the ceasefire all but meaningless. All in all, the movie manages to maintain a surprisingly light tone, despite touching on some very sober and thought-provoking topics: oil's impact on U.S. foreign policy; Saddam's tyrannical rule; the costs and rules of war; the media's role in shaping perceptions; etc. Highly recommended.

Wed Oct 24 2001Imaginativly shot, o.k.acting bit what it lacked most was the story and its ability to draw you in. I felt not one thing for any of the characters. What was memorable were the way too few comedic moments through out the picture. Large animals stepping on mines, Marky Mark calling his girl on a cell phone in the middle of battle, these touches are great. George Clooney once again proves to be an all right actor who is alot of fun to watch and adds alot of energy and wit to all his characters. One of my favorite directors, Spike Jonze, plays a role in this picture and does surprisingly well. All in all this is an o.k. movie. Worth watching once if you have nothing at all else to do.

Thu Mar 29 2001WHAT A MOVIE! Three great stars (Clooney, Wharlburg and Ice Cube). Anyway, regardless of the stars this movie was tops. It was emotional, had action, comedy and was full of intrege. The effects of showing the damage of a bullet wound was factual and intense. The story was brilliant showing the need for pride and so-called justice in the armed forces. Great performances by all actors, full of laughs and action. If you like stories full of action, stunts, humour, truth and a bit of a hollywood kick than this is the one for you!! Go C it 4 yourself!!

Mon Nov 13 2000Expected some fun here. Found a sh!tload of virtual emotions based on the political and other things. Brutal and pointless. See and forget. This movie can be seen for time wasting but you wouldn't want to see it after again. SHMACK!

Fri Oct 27 2000This was an excellent movie. I found it to be humorous and intrigueing (which is amazing since I can't stand George Clooney). The cut scenes showing the damage caused by various combat wounds was awesome. Hell of a good movie!

Mon Jul 31 2000I had heard good things about Three Kings and I was not disappointed. I thought that it was a quirky, interesting movie with a strong cast. Clooney, Ice Cube, and Marky Mark were all really good. I also found myself laughing pretty hard during several parts. Definitely worth a rental.

Thu Dec 02 1999This is the most disgusting movie I have ever seen! Talk about blood and guts! It's only slightly less boring than "Matrix". Come on, 4 guys go out to get some gold from the Iraqies...how can you possibly make a story out of this? No plot whatsoever!

Mon Nov 15 1999I know it got great reviews, but I just didn't get them. It was very funny in parts, and did did manage to be an action movie that takes violence seriously and had a real political point -- regarding the unconsionability of the U.S. abandoning freedom fighters in Iraq after the Gulf War. That said, the plot was pretty predictable and the points made in a very heavy-handed manner. A little subtlety sometimes goes a long way.
