Yeah, yeah, he invented the light-bulb, big whoop-de-doo. Possessing hardly a shred of deductive reasoning, his method of "discovery", as Nicola Telsa observed, was to "find a needle in a haystack by going through every straw, one by one, until he found the needle." Telsa worked for Edison for about a year, discovering that Edison's "genius" consisted of hiring people to work for him and either come up with new gadgets or improve on existing gadgets, which Edison would promptly patent in his own name (such as Englishman Sir Joseph Swan's light bulb idea). One of Edison's biggest beefs was with George Westinghouse, who was an advocate of Telsa's AC (alternating current). Edison, who pushed for DC (direct current), wanted to prove how much more worser AC was. He and Harold P. Brown built an electric chair at his Menlo laboratory, where he perfected his latest invention, the ELECTRIC CHAIR OF DEATH. This marvelous chair went on tour around the Northeast where Brown electrocuted animals t... Read more

thomas edison was an idiot. He failed thousands of times to create a successful lightbulb. then when he succeeded we have an extremely inefficient design that says..."i hate the environment". Thank you thomas edison: because of you tommy my kids wont know what polar bears are because you caused the ice caps to melt. oh yeah and thanks for the phonograph shit. have you ever heard anything on that...ive heard better sounds coming come from an elephants ass after an all you can eat buffet at the red lobster. Dear Thomas edison: I blame you for the following things: Celine Dion, the jonas brothers, miley cyrus, devo, joe buck, anyone who plays an accordion, justin beiber, the backstreet boys american bandstand, simon cowell, title IX, and the disney channel. I consider Thomas Edison to be my least favorite inventor of all time, Dr. Kevorkian was more of a contributor to a healthy functioning society than Edison. screw edison.

I love T.E. Solid inventions. But I really hit him with a three here. . . The light bulb and portable music would certainly have come our way eventually. . .He's a great American but I'll put him in the middle of the pack here. On any other list he's an easy five. (Phil Rizzuto on the all-time Yankee- list syndrome?)

Not just the lightbulb, but recorded music and film.

Let me replace my light-bulb be right back. I would think to say he was influential would be a huge understatement.
