The Sawyer family, led by patriarch Drayton, is well-named, since they've long been fascinated with chainsaws: "The saw is family" Drayton says. As a small businessman, Drayton feels oppressed by high taxes and cut-throat competition, so he and his sons, Choptop and Leatherface (affectionately known as "Bubba"), put their chainsaws to effective use procuring cheap, high-quality meat for their barbecue business: "The Rolling Grill." The Sawyers have strong family values -- Grandpa and Grandma are held in high esteem, the boys look after each-other, and Drayton works hard to provide for his brood (where the mother is, is unclear; it's a Single Father household). In spite of these good qualities, the Sawyers have failed to embody one simple rule: love of neighbor. Having failed in this, they have no qualms about procuring meat from unwilling victims of the human variety. This leads to many forms of debauchery, which must be seen to be believed. One such episode of debauchery is record... Read more

After helming two motion pictures ("Lifeforce" and "Invaders from Mars") for Cannon, Tobe Hooper was permitted to complete his three-movie contract by directing a sequel to his iconic horror film. Eager to defy expectations, dissatisfied with the general public's inability to perceive the pitch-black deadpan humor of the first movie and unwilling to churn out what might amount to an updated retread of the cannibalistic classic, Hooper opted to make "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" as a satire that spoofed its predecessor. "Paris, Texas" screenwriter L.M. Kit Carson wrote the script with Hooper, exchanging the first movie's friendly hippies for obnoxious yuppies as the most prominent members of the on-screen body count/menu. In addition to his function as associate producer of this movie, Carson also extensively rewrote the shooting script on-set, tweaking it on the fly as circumstances warranted and imaginations flared. At the conclusion of a backbreaking shoot during which scheduled ti... Read more

I FIRST SAW THIS MOVIE AS A KID. I WAS ABOUT 11 YEARS OLD, ME AND ONE OF MY FRIENDS RENTED AND WATCHED THIS MOVIE ALONE. I HAVE TO SAY THIS MOVIE SCARED THE SH** OUT OF ME FOR A VERY LONG TIME. IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST HORROR MOVIES I SAW TO HAVE THIS EFFECT ON ME I CAN REMEMBER. I RECENTLY SAW THIS MOVIE AGAIN (FOR THE HUNDRETH TIME) AS AN ADULT, NOW I CAN SEE THIS MOVIE FOR WHAT IT TRUELY IS, A VERY GOOD HORROR/COMEDY FILM. THIS MIGHT NOT BE EXACTLY WHAT TOBE HOOPER WANTED FROM THIS FILM BEFORE CANNON GOT AHOLD OF IT BUT IT IS STILL A GREAT FILM, ONE THAT WILL STAY WITH ME FOREVER!! SO TO ANYONE WHO GIVES THIS FILM A 3 STAR OR LOWER SHAME ON YOU, BECAUSE THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE LEAD THE WAY FOR MANY OTHER GREAT SLASHER FILMS TO FOLLOW.

This is actually one of my top 10 favourite horror movies of all time. My top 10 horror movies are movies or even movie sequels i have selected which i consider to be better then the original's, The texas chainsaw mssacre part 2 is one of them. Not only is it better then the original 1974 film, but it uses a bigger budget more technology and special effects.

First off let me say i never saw the original TCM.ive seen trailers for it and it never attracted me,the remake however i really like.Tom Savini's effects are really good but there are only a handfull of kills.chop top really is the high point of this movie but its still a pretty good movie to watch.i found it enjoyable and even funny at times.i know people who like the original dont like this one but honestly the original TCM looks boring,i LOVE horror and have never been interested in seeing it until the remake.i recomend you at least rent this one to see it as this is a "hate it or love it"type of movie.but the chainsaw duel is just great to see and that alone is worth owning this movie for along with all the scenes with chop top.
